Chapter 84: Chapter 84

“Annie, I told you we’re not enemies. Leaving the Arts Department is for your own good. Will you stop being stubborn?”

Annie stared at the man’s anxious expression. “Mr. Ju’an, your words just now contrast with what you said in the office. Since when did you become two-faced?”

Jason shoved both hands in his pockets. The man looked uneasy. Ditching Priscilla was easy, but the girl could leave the washroom soon and he wasn’t ready for another round of argument between the girls.

“If you have tolerated Priscilla, Annie. This wouldn’t have happened.”

“By tolerating her, you mean I should give in to her and let her do as she pleased?”

“That could have saved you this trouble.”

Annie let out a soft laugh. Seriously, she wasn’t sure if it was the same guy she knew standing in front of her. “You keep disappointing me, Mr. Ju’an. Now I’m beginning to anticipate the look on your wife’s face if she sees us alone in this elevator.”

“Annie, I don’t regret marrying Priscilla. All I want you to know is I’m also not pleased with what is going on. If you could give up soon, we won’t have to worry about future troubles.”

“We’re here.”

Jason was confused by her words and he frowned.

“Mr. Ju’an, you’re blocking the way,” Annie added. The elevator had come to a stop and the door opened automatically.

Jason stepped out of the way and watched the girl walk away without glancing back. He let out a heavy sigh and also stepped out of the elevator.

Thinking back to the things Mr. Wang had said to him last night when the man called him to his house, Jason had a feeling that the threats were not only directed towards him.

“If only you can stop being stubborn, Annie. I only did the right thing by marrying Priscilla. Any trouble that comes to you isn’t intentional.”

He could have married Priscilla willingly, but Jason never planned for this chaos. He wasn’t prepared for it.

If the only way to put an end to this was to leave the company, why wouldn’t she concede already?

Knowing what those people were capable of, even if Annie left the department, they could still trouble her.

“Honey!” Priscilla was astonished to see him already on the conference floor. “I only took some minutes in the washroom, why didn’t you wait for me?”

Jason looked away from the direction Annie took. He stared at Priscilla and said softly, “I saw Mr. Song a while ago. We had a lot of things to discuss.”

Luckily, Mr. Song was in the hallway, but his back was to them. To Priscilla, the man was walking away after he was done speaking with Jason.

“I don’t like that man, Honey. Remember he’s Dad’s enemy.”

“The conference is about to start soon. Let’s go and get you a seat.” Instead of listening to her complaining, Jason held her hand and led her towards the conference hall.

.

All the employees in MystiArt Productions were present. With the higher-ups and Managers sitting on the stage, the CEO’s seat was still vacant.

The enormous hall buzzed with noises. Each employee was engrossed in chatting with the person next to them.

Annie’s eyes caught Layla sitting in the front row. Layla was waving to her, gesturing her to hurry up.

“Damnit! Can you believe I almost ripped someone apart, Annie?” Layla was panting while she spoke.

Apparently, she had caught the two seats first but someone came and sat on the one she kept for Annie. If it wasn’t for the security patrolling, the two girls would have broken into a fight.

“Ms. Ju’an is just too troublesome. Even I have a friend but I didn’t catch any sit for her.” One girl said from beside Annie. She was also from the Arts Department.

“Hey, watch your mouth. When speaking about friendship, you don’t refer to the hypocritic types.” Layla shot back.

The girl only shook her head at Layla. She was one of Priscilla’s minions. “I am sure Ms. Lin doesn’t take your friendship seriously. Otherwise, why is she bent on destroying your brother’s marriage.”

“Some people are more concerned about what is going on in others’ lives. Will it hurt if you mind your business?” Annie said, tapping on her phone without glancing at the girl.

She brought out an earphone from her bag and plugged it in then said to Layla, “Could you let me know when the conference starts?”

“Let this busybody do that. I also want to listen to some music, Annie.”

Therefore, both of them shared the same earphone and Annie rested on the chair, closing her eyes.

The girl who was totally ignored seethed in rage. She was more angry when Layla called her a busybody.

Honestly, she envied their friendship. Somehow, she also found Annie’s behavior strange. If she had a loyal friend like Layla whose brother cheated on her, she wouldn’t think twice before taking her revenge on the sister.

Annie was even about to lose her job because of her past relationship with the Manager. Yet, she was still hanging out with the Manager’s sister.

Could someone tell her how this girl’s brain worked? Maybe she had a revenge plan in mind, or maybe she was simply emotionless.

As for her, she wouldn’t leave the girls alone after having been treated like trash by them. So when she saw Priscilla walking into the hall with the Manager, the girl waved her hand to grab her attention.

However, Priscilla only gave a single glance before rolling her eyes and looking away. She was clinging tight to her husband as if they were the only couple in the hall.

“Stop it, Mia. The feud between these people doesn’t concern you.” Another girl from the Arts Department was silently watching the girl and she shook her head.

“How could you say that? Mr. Wang’s daughter is stupid and Ms. Lin is stubborn. Haven’t you been entertained for the past few days?”

“It’s none of our concern.”

“Shut up, Sabrina. The CEO is coming.”
