Chapter 83: Chapter 83

The next morning at MystiArt Productions…

No one could tell why but every employee seemed to be minding their business. They didn’t even have time to gossip about the current happenings in the company.

Suddenly, the forum was like a graveyard. The last announcement that was posted had many likes and shares, however, no one dared to comment.

In the middle of the night, Someone posted the news about the CEO’s return. Accompanying that was also the news of the general conference.

Such a day would be termed the judgment day in the MystiArt Productions. At the general conference where even the shareholders would be present, a lot of things happened, both pleasant and unpleasant.

The Arts Department employees were the most apprehensive. In the whole company, they were the most important employees apart from the employees from the Innovation Department.

They were also skeptical today, because they looked forward to the final judgment regarding the fate of the Arts Department and the Innovation Department.

Even when Annie walked into the Department and found her cubicle empty, the employees didn’t look in her direction. They were all busy getting ready for the conference.

“Annie, these people are really out to get you,” Layla said tiredly. It seemed like even though Annie refused to leave the department, they were ready to force her.

“Who did this?” Annie looked at the empty space. Even her computer was missing.

“Who else do you think would do this apart from that old witch?” Layla glanced at the Manager’s office door. “She emptied your cubicle not long ago. If you had arrived early, you would have seen it with your own eyes.”

Annie rarely came late to work, so Layla found it puzzling. She stared at her friend who had on a calm look and sighed inside.

“Annie, that girl will stop at nothing until she makes sure you’re out of this company. Maybe you should just switch departments to avoid further trouble. If they keep pushing you, it might affect you mentally.”

Annie dropped her bag on the desk. Affect her? She laughed. Those people were hellbent on making her lose her job. If she let them affect her, their jobs would only become easier.

She suppressed a yawn and craned her neck to the side, patting it gently.

Her action did not miss Layla’s eyes and she became more worried. “Annie, are you alright? Didn’t you get any sleep last night?”

“I’m fine,” Annie gave her a simple reply before she turned around and entered the Manager’s office.

Layla was too late to stop the girl and the other employees couldn’t help but pity themselves. If only they could get to witness the drama. But they had to hurry to the general conference hall in order to secure a seat.

.

Jason and Priscilla were about to leave the office together when Annie walked on. The couple’s expressions instantly changed.

While Priscilla had on a dark look, Jason looked a bit helpless. “Annie-“

“It’s Ms. Lin.”

“What is it this time?” Jason looked from her to Priscilla. Of course, he had an inkling of what it could be about. What he didn’t expect was Annie barging into his office.

“Mr. Ju’an, I promised you I won’t give your wife any trouble. However, she clearly has a mission to pester me in this department.”

“What did I do?” Priscilla faked a shocked look. “Is it because I moved your things? Don’t I have the right to do that?”

“I didn’t know you now have authority over the employees, Mrs. Ju’an.”

“That is because I’m the new assistant.” Priscilla held Jason’s arm and looked up at him. “Tell her, Honey. What I did, was it wrong?”

Jason sighed and looked at Annie. “She’s right. You are only a receptionist now. It doesn’t matter if you accept it anymore or not. If Ms. Lin isn’t okay with the demotion, you can hand in your resignation.”

Priscilla’s eyes lit up when she heard him say that. Her happiness knew no bounds and she started laughing. “You heard him, right?” She looked at Annie. “I was only helping you by moving your things. The only thing you need to do now is to take your bag and leave this department.”

Priscilla wondered what her father actually said to the guy when he summoned him last night. Jason was now treating her like an egg and she couldn’t be any happier.

“Honey, we’re going to be late.” She tugged at his arm and started pulling him out of the office. “Let’s not waste our time on her. She is hopeless.”

“Mr. Ju’an, you keep surprising me every day.” Annie laughed softly. “And I thought you were an upright man.”

“Does it hurt, Annie?” Priscilla smiled. “Now that you know he’ll no longer look at you, just give up and quit already.”

“I didn’t apply to be an employee in MystiArt Productions because of Mr. Ju’an. Tell me why I should quit because of him.”

“You don’t have any choice, Annie. I’ll make sure-“

“Enough, Priscilla.” Jason who had been watching them silently finally spoke. “You said we’re going to be late, why waste our time?”

“You’re right, Honey. Let’s not waste our time on her.”

Priscilla was super happy today. They left Annie alone in the office and went out to the elevator.

Annie stood in the same spot for some minutes. Her eyes went to a corner where her things were now sitting and she let out a self-deprecating laugh.

MystiArts Production was corrupted before, but not to this extent. Was it even worth it to waste her time here?

When she left the office, she found the department empty. All the employees had already left for the conference, and she saw no reason why she should linger there.

Annie picked up her bag and entered the elevator. The doors were just closing when someone quickly stepped in, startling her.

Looking at the man, she folded her hands and raised a brow. “If you keep acting this way, I’ll really be convinced that you have ulterior motives.”
