Chapter 82: Chapter 82
“Where is that coming from?” Annie was puzzled by his words, she couldn’t even hold back her amusement.
“Tell me how many men you’re seeing behind my back.” Andrew caged her between the wall again. This time, he didn’t give her room to escape.
Annie tilted her head and laughed softly. “Mr. Lim, when did you become so insecure? You keep thinking I see other men. Even if I do, I don’t think it should affect you.”
Right. It shouldn’t affect him. But Andrew was still angry for some reason.
“Stopping office romance isn’t enough for you. You are even living in his building. Tell me, Annie, how much is he giving you?”
Annie stared at him without speaking. After understanding who he was referring to, she was quite surprised.
“Now Mr. Lim admits that he intentionally set up no romance rule. You believe Mr. Zhang and I are in a relationship?”
“So what if I did?” Andrew said.
“I can’t change your thoughts, but I must let you know that I stand by my words. Since I agreed to marry you, Mr. Lim can be rest assured that I won’t let any man in the way.”
“How should I believe you?” The man narrowed his eyes.
“It is up to you.” Annie shrugged, meaning she didn’t care if he believed her or not. It only made the man angrier.
“Now, if Mr. Lim can excuse me. I had a long day and need a proper sleep.” Annie waited for him to move away, but he didn’t. Instead, the man picked her up and walked into the bedroom.
“If you think I’ll leave this apartment, you might as well keep dreaming.”
“Mr. Lim, let me go.” Annie beat at his chest.
…
At Golden Fall Villa…
The dining room was lit with candles. Various cuisines were spread across the table, not one spot was unoccupied by a plate.
The atmosphere was quiet and serene, and a soft melody could be heard in the background.
Sitting across the wide table was a girl dressed elegantly in a red sparkling dress. Her hair was extra shiny tonight, and the minimal makeover on her face accentuated her soft features.
Gently, she tapped her fingers on the wine glass in front of her. Her eyes would stray to the door every few minutes, and she would glance at her wristwatch now and then.
“Young Miss.” The Chef appeared from the kitchen area. “The food is getting cold. Should I warm them up before the Young Master arrives?”
“Get out!” Rayne chased the woman away.
She looked at her wristwatch again and was beginning to become impatient. Seconds turned into minutes and minutes turned into hours. It was very dark outside and the food had lost its warmth.
“Young Miss.” Max walked into the area. “There’s no sign of the Young Master’s car. It has been hours now. Maybe he canceled the trip.”
Canceled the trip?
Rayne let out a laugh of self-mockery. His mother wouldn’t lie to her. The woman had told her that he was on his way to this city. It had been many hours now. Even someone who was on a trip to another country would have landed by now.
Picking up her phone, her fingers gripped the device and she dialed a number. After a few rings, someone answered the call.
“Hello, Dear, you’re still awake. Did he arrive safely? I gave him a call but no one answered. He must be sleeping already, right?”
The woman’s words just confirmed her thought that the man was already in the city. Rayne bit her lips, her eyes turning red.
“Yes, Aunty. He’s asleep,” Rayne replied. “I just called to let you know.”
“That’s good. Please make sure he’s well taken care of. Also take care of yourself, Dear. I’ll hang up now. Don’t stay awake for too long.”
By the time Rayne put down her phone, tears were already streaming down her face. Slowly, she stood up, looking lifeless.
“What is going on, Max?” Rayne whispered.
“Young Miss, please relax. The Young Master must be attending to an important business.”
“In the middle of the night?” Rayne said weakly. She chucked again and shook her head.
Max became more worried, seeing her state. “I will look for the Young Master for you. I can go now and start searching.”
“In this vast city?” Rayne found his words ridiculous. “Max, is something wrong with me?”
Max hung his head and sighed. “Young Miss-“
“Will he ever return to this Villa?”
“Of course. Don’t worry. I am sure the Young Master will return home soon. As I’ve said, it must be a business-“
“Shut up!” Rayne screamed. She flipped the table and not even one cuisine was spared from the damage.
The sound of shattering glasses overwhelmed the dining area and the floor was instantly stained red.
“How long has it been? What if he’s out there with another woman? What if it’s even that girl?”
Right now, the girl looked like a venomous snake. Despite her frail body, she managed to flip the table and Max feared for her health.
“Young Miss, please calm down.”
“Just get out! Leave me alone!” Rayne grabbed her hair and screamed. “Leave me alone, Max. You are useless, and what’s even more useless is those people you claimed you hired. Do they take their jobs seriously?”
She dropped on the floor, her shoulders shaking hard.
Max knelt in front of her and brought out a hankie. “I promise you they’ll get rid of her soon. I have been communicating with them. They haven’t found the right opportunity, Young Miss.”
“You-“ The guy said the words she dreaded the most and Rayne pointed a trembling finger at him.
She was so enraged that she couldn’t even speak. In the end, she passed out from anger.
The Chef appeared, looking flabbergasted. “What is wrong with her?” The woman asked.
Max didn’t reply. He only sighed and scooped the unconscious girl up.
