Chapter 78: Chapter 78
Well, Priscilla was simply speechless. And because of the heavy load of the documents added to the sudden impact, her hands trembled, unable to bear the weight.
The employees watched as the girl lost hold of the documents and they scattered on the floor.
“Annie, you… How dare you!” Priscilla screamed. “Is this how you should treat me?”
Annie folded her hands and raised a brow. “Tell me how I should treat you, Mrs. Ju’an. Have you forgotten the phrase; don’t expect to be treated differently from the way you treat others.”
Surely, this girl was bold. The employees were more than astonished. How could she still think of standing up to Priscilla despite what had happened to her? Honestly, she might really lose her job.
“You are not as good as me, Annie. You can’t even be compared to me when it comes to anything. Aren’t you afraid of what I can do to you?”
“If Mrs. Ju’an is speaking about status, you’re correct. Only a coward abuses their position to bully others. If you have a clear conscience, you wouldn’t use underhanded tricks.”
By status, the girl was indirectly referring to her connection with the higher-ups. She was especially speaking about no one but Priscilla’s father. By calling them cowards, she meant they could only use what they had to suppress others instead of having a confrontation and proving themselves right.
The employees all understood the meaning behind her words. A lot of them became more afraid for the girl, even Layla was a bit apprehensive.
“Annie, she’s crazy. Just leave her alone,” Layla said. “It’s not like she has anything to do. Instead of letting her disturb us, we should just act as if she’s invisible.”
“You’re right,” Annie agreed and cleared her desk. “She is not here for work. I have forgotten Mrs. Ju’an is only accompanying her husband.”
Priscilla was more enraged. The more Layla supported the girl, the more angry she became.
“Annie, stop thinking too highly of yourself. I can do anything to you and you won’t have the power to fight back.” With that said, she raised her hand in the air.
No one expected the girl to try slapping Annie. Her hand was still mid-air when Annie caught it. The girl wasn’t smiling before, however, the current smile on her face could have one cowering.
“Priscilla, don’t even think about it.” Annie pushed her hand away. “Do you know what happens to those that hit people mindlessly?”
“You are going too far, Priscilla. Are you a witch or what? Why won’t you just let us work in peace?”
Priscilla stared at her hand, marveling at the girl’s strength. When Annie pushed her hand away, she had almost lost her footing. Seeing that even physical abuse would be useless against this girl, her expression changed and she lost her footing.
Another shock hit the employees. Priscilla was now on the floor, screaming her lungs out.
“I always knew you were evil, Annie! If you don’t want to see me, why won’t you just accept your demotion and leave this department!?” Her voice echoed in the place. “You don’t even want to follow my orders, don’t I have the right to give you work?”
Annie stared down at her, her lips twitching. She was sure she hadn’t pushed her to the extent of making her fall on the floor.
“Priscilla, stop it already. Must I keep reminding you that you’re a very bad actress-“
Layla had not finished talking when the Manager’s office door opened. With a frantic look, Jason hurried out.
“What is going on here?” His question was thrown at Annie.
“Urgh! Why do I feel like I’ve seen this kind of scene from a movie?” Layla couldn’t help but roll her eyes.
However, Annie ignored him and sat down.
“Honey, can you believe this girl doesn’t want to do what I asked her? See what she did. She even pushed me down. What if- what if…” Tears welled up in her eyes and she trailed off, holding her stomach.
Jason was more apprehensive. Of course, he had seen everything from the surveillance in his office. When Priscilla walked in and took some documents, he thought she was going to work on them herself. He didn’t expect her to take them to Annie. He also didn’t expect Annie to push her.
Although he couldn’t hear what they were saying, he had seen when Priscilla fell down. The guy was more worried when Priscilla held her stomach.
“Ms. Lin, I expected more from you. Even if it was a big misunderstanding, you could resolve it without getting aggressive.”
“Really? Am I the aggressive one?” Annie laughed softly. “Mr. Ju’an, didn’t you see from the camera when your wife tried to hit me?”
Jason had on a complicated look. Without answering her question, he helped Priscilla up. “I told you to always calm down. What if someone hurts you?”
“But, Honey, am I not your assistant now? Why does everyone follow my orders and not her?” Priscilla whined.
Since when did she become his assistant?
Everyone was confused by Priscilla’s words. She wasn’t even qualified while they were competing for the position. Well, most of them weren’t shocked, yet, the news was a shock to them.
“Why do you all look surprised? Did you think the assistant position would be left vacant after this girl was demoted?” Priscilla looked at them.
“N-No, you’re always right, Mrs. Ju’an.”
“We already know this position is yours. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have said it before.”
Instantly, the employees hid their surprise.
“How could you make her your assistant!” Layla exclaimed. “Brother, is that even the right thing to do?”
Remembering her hard work and how she had competed endlessly with Annie, even if someone would take up the assistant position, wouldn’t that person be her? Besides, Annie didn’t accept the demotion.
“Layla, watch your tone.” Jason gave her a look. “Ms. Lin.” He turned to Annie. “I would like to have a word, in my office.”
Annie stood up and followed him into his office and Priscilla hurried after them even though she wasn’t invited.
The employees were a bit disappointed. They wanted everything to happen in front of them. Still, they didn’t fail to post something interesting on the company’s forum.
