Chapter 79: Chapter 79
“This looks like a movie I have watched recently. Ah, why am I not surprised?”
“The damsel is already going through a lot. Will being stubborn benefit her at this level?”
“It is always clever to know when to give up. It is obvious that she has already lost.”
“Wait, didn’t she quit already?”
While the gossip was going on in the forum, Inside the Manager’s office was a tense atmosphere.
Annie stood in front of Jason, waiting for him to speak, while Priscilla leaned against the wall with a haughty look on her face. She was so ready for Jason to humiliate the girl in front of her. Even better, she wanted her to be humiliated in front of the other employees.
Which was why after following them to the office, Priscilla intentionally left the door open for the employees to see what was going on inside.
“Annie-“
“It’s Ms. Lin,” Annie corrected him before he could speak further. The conflicted look was still on his face and he looked somehow helpless.
Jason looked at Priscilla and sighed inside. “I just need a favor from you.” He brought his eyes to Annie. “Could you stop bothering her?”
Hearing his words, Annie’s first reaction was to laugh. “Mr. Ju’an, how am I bothering her?” It was obvious that the guy saw everything that happened through the surveillance.
Jason didn’t answer her question and he went on, “Your presence in this department is causing us problems, Annie. To avoid further argument, Isn’t it better for you to accept the demotion?”
“Accepting the demotion is out of the question. I have been patient to attain this position, Mr. Ju’an. Instead of telling me this, why don’t you advise your wife instead to stop acting insecure?”
Priscilla looked from Jason to Annie. Both of them were calm as if speaking about some business collaboration. Jason looked as if he was even coaxing the girl.
“Honey!” Priscilla wouldn’t take it and she grabbed his attention. “This girl pushed me down. Aren’t you going to do anything about it?”
“How did I push you down? Stop pretending already, no one is buying your lie.”
Priscilla balled her fists. She looked at Jason but he didn’t say anything apart from, “Ms. Lin, please take note. Next time something happens between you and Priscilla, I won’t take it lightly.”
“Noted.” Annie turned around and left the office.
Priscilla looked as if she would spit out blood. “Honey!” Instantly, she started crying. “Weren’t you going to avenge me? She clearly pushed me and you saw that! Why did you just give her a warning and let her off?”
“Calm down, Priscilla.” Jason left his chair and walked to her. “The most important thing is you weren’t wounded.”
Priscilla bit her lips, her heart burning inside. If she wasn’t mistaken, was Jason just reluctant to scold Annie? Did he still have feelings for that girl?
She forced back her tears and nodded. “I’m just worried Annie will repeat what she did if you don’t scold her. Honey, you know my condition, right?”
“I won’t let anyone bother you.”
.
Priscilla’s rage did not calm down even after they closed from work. Because Annie didn’t close the door when she went out, the employees had seen the exchange between her and Jason.
Even though they didn’t show it, she could feel them laughing at her. If Jason continued acting this way instead of standing up for her when it came to that girl, how would she ever be happy?
That evening, Priscilla picked up her phone and sent a text to her father.
[Dad! Why do people keep wronging me? I thought you were going to make them fire that girl, why was she only demoted? If my marriage fails, I swear I’m going to hang myself, Dad! If you think I’m joking, I give you one week to send her out of MystiArt Productions.]
Mr. Wang was having dinner with his wife when her text came in. Reading the message, the man spat some of the food in his mouth and choked on the rest.
[Princess, please don’t. Since when did I disappoint you? I have a bad feeling about firing that girl- but, don’t worry. Please don’t harm yourself, Dad will do anything to make you happy. Princess, remember, you can’t do anything to harm yourself.]
Mr. Wang looked as if he was having a panic attack. After sending the reply with shaky hands, he dropped his phone and held his head.
His wife, who was overwhelmed by her husband’s strange behavior, quickly gave him water to drink. “Honey, what is wrong? Did you receive the news of someone’s death?”
“This is worse than someone’s death,” Mr. Wang sighed helplessly. “Tell me, Dear, did I make a mistake by letting that boy live? If I had gotten rid of him when Old Wu was still the CEO, he wouldn’t have become a thorn in our daughter’s perfect life, right?”
Mrs. Wang was confused. “Are you speaking about our son-in-law?”
“Who else would I be speaking about?” Mr. Wang patted his chest. “Since our daughter set her eyes on that boy, it is one problem after the other. I had to forego my aspiration, and now, there’s a chance I might still lose my daughter.”
Mrs. Wang finally understood what her husband meant. She knew her husband’s dislike for the boy while he was constantly after the merging of both departments in the past. Every day, Mr. Wang would express his displeasure and speak about it.
Now that his daughter was pushing him to get that girl fired, what kind of fate would await him? When Mr. Wang felt uncomfortable about something, he always knew not to try it.
“Honey, it’s just some lowly girl. Isn’t making our baby girl happy our only mission? Why do you hesitate?” Mrs. Wang said after the man showed him the text.
“By the way, you can approach this problem in more than one way. You have the option of getting that boy here and giving him a piece of your mind. After all, you have done a lot for him.”
“As for that girl.” Mrs. Wang went on. “She doesn’t have to know who is her enemy. Instead of making your actions obvious, how about you do it the other way round?”
