Chapter 77: Chapter 77

Priscilla laughed softly and played with her hair. “Oh, you flatter me too much, Girls. Of course, no one else deserves this position apart from me.”

“Mrs. Ju’an, you are right.”

“Also, I will treat you well, don’t worry. You can ask for whatever you want and I’ll be happy to grant your wish.”

“We always knew Mrs. Ju’an is an angel. Mr. Ju’an deserves someone like you. Do you know we are always praying for you and the Manager to be blessed with a baby soon?”

“Disgusting,” Layla scoffed and looked toward Annie. As always, Annie didn’t pay them attention. Even though she wasn’t wearing earphones now and was sorting through some documents, she completely ignored the girls.

Seriously, Layla wanted to smack Priscilla in the mouth. The girl was becoming more arrogant, getting on her nerves.

“Sister-in-law, you don’t look alright. Didn’t you hear what they just said? They’re praying for me and your brother to have a baby soon. Aren’t you happy?” In a coquettish tone, Priscilla said.

Layla ignored her and went on with her work.

“Come on, Layla, you know you can’t ignore me forever.” Priscilla came to her cubicle and stood in front of her. “You might have wanted your brother to marry Annie, but face the reality. Whether you like it or not, I am now your brother’s wife. As time goes by, you will have no choice but to concede and switch to my side. Why don’t you save yourself the hassle and do that now?”

Priscilla was speaking softly, and the other employees were curious about what the girls were discussing.

“Layla, Annie is dumb and stupid. She can’t even keep a man. Do you wish to hang out with such kind of person?”

Priscilla thought that as long as she could get Layla on her side, most of her worries would go away. It wasn’t like she was longing for the girl’s approval. However, with no one backing Annie up, she might as well stop dreaming of getting Jason back.

“Priscilla, I’ll close my eyes and when I open it, I don’t want to glimpse even your shadow,” Layla glared at her.

“You- stop proving difficult. If Annie really is your friend, will she go behind your brother and cheat on him?”

Annie looked up from her work. “It appears you have nothing important to do. Priscilla, why don’t you make posters of me and worship me all day?”

“You wish!” Priscilla rolled her eyes. “If you’re fed up with being pestered, pack your things and leave this company. You’re not my idol, Annie, I just dislike to see you.”

“Do you own the company?” Layla chipped in. “Watch how you speak, Priscilla. Your father might have connections with the higher-ups. That doesn’t give you the right to do as you please.”

“You still think I was the one that caused her demotion?” Priscilla faked a shocked look.

“Isn’t it obvious?” Layla replied. “You’re not even a good actress, Priscilla. Stop trying to be.”

“Mrs. Ju’an, please excuse us. Since you have nothing to do, how about you find someone else to pester?”

After Annie said that, Priscilla looked so angry that her eyes turned red. She felt cornered by the girls, especially Layla who refused to cooperate with her.

In Priscilla’s whole life, she hadn’t encountered such kind of stubborn people. Annie refused to yield to her and Layla was going to make people laugh at her.

Without saying another word, she turned around and barged into the Manager’s office.

The employees watched Priscilla’s retreating figure in amusement. They wondered what Annie had actually said to make her that angry. Annie on the other hand, looked calm, and Layla looked a bit irritated.

“Seriously, Annie, I wonder what she did to bewitch my brother. With her horrible temper, who would even look at her?”

The reason why her brother decided to marry Priscilla instead was still a mystery to Layla. And if her assumption about Mr. Wang having a hand in it was true, she was really disappointed in the guy.

Because of Priscilla, her brother even raised his voice on her. Something he never did before. And to think that her parents were still mad at her. That girl was nothing but a homewrecker.

Layla couldn’t help but imagine how the scenario would be if her brother had married Annie. Wouldn’t their home be peaceful the way it had always been?

She was still fuming when the door to the Manager’s office opened again and Priscilla stormed out, holding a huge stack of documents.

“Take this!” She dropped the documents on Annie’s desk with a bang. “Aren’t you just a receptionist now? How dare you speak to me anyhow? You will spend the whole day sorting through these documents, and by the way, you are going to work overtime.”

The employees’ jaws dropped and they started whispering.

“Ms. Lin must have said something to anger her again.”

“Right, she is only a receptionist now. If I was her, I’d stop being stubborn. It is clear that she has lost the game. Why would she still think about angering Mrs. Ju’an.”

“Isn’t working overtime forbidden? Ms. Lin might as well lose her job for real.”

Pushing the documents out of her way, Annie sighed and stood up. Whether Priscilla did it intentionally or not, Annie’s drawing tablet was now broken. When Priscilla dropped the documents, they happened to fall directly on the device.

“Mrs. Ju’an.” Her voice carried a hint of coldness despite looking calm. “You are hellbent on giving me trouble in this department. Since when did you start calling the shots?”

“Will you do it or not?” Priscilla asked.

“Do it yourself.” Annie picked up the documents and shoved them into her hands.

Priscilla looked shocked and the employees held their breath. Finally, this emotionless girl now looked irritated. Would their wish finally come true? Would they witness the show they had been anticipating?

They all looked at Priscilla, waiting for her reaction.
