Chapter 20: Chapter 20

Like any normal day, the employees in MystiArt Productions should be active. But today, they were hyperactive, especially in the Arts Department where every employee was working their butts off.

The competition between the Arts Department and the Innovation Department was becoming intense. So no one had time to gossip around or bring up old rumors. They were all into their work as if their lives depended on it.

And for once in many years, the Arts Department was like a meditation center. Apart from the rapid clicking of the keyboard keys, the sound of pen against paper, and the soft noises the electronics would make now and then, everywhere was pin-drop silence.

Well, not every employee was working. Because Priscilla right now was fuming mad that one could fear she would explode.

The news about Annie’s wedding with the Manager came to her as a shock. Since it was announced, she couldn’t stop thinking about it. She never expected it to be so soon.

And her glare was fixed on Annie as she sat in her cubicle.

“Girl, spill it out. How do you plan to surprise my brother after the wedding? The guy can be dumb sometimes, are you going the hard way or the easy way?”

While they both sketched characters on their desktops, Layla pestered Annie nonstop as she continued whispering.

“Annie, how about we go shopping later? I’ll also take you to the best designer in the City. Let’s rip my brother off by ordering the most expensive wedding dress for you.”

“Layla, focus.” Annie gave her a helpless look. “We can discuss after work.”

“Urgh!” Layla rolled her eyes. “You’re so boring, Annie. Every girl is supposed to be frantic and jumping around as their wedding approaches. Yet, you’re treating it like another animation project.”

Sometimes, Layla couldn’t help but reassess the girl to make sure her brother wasn’t dating a robot. Nothing seemed to interest her. Even the mention of her wedding didn’t seem to elicit any emotion from her. Was she even happy about it?

“Annie–“

“Urgh, Layla. Alright, we’ll go shopping later,” Annie said tiredly.

The girl was already distracting her. If she continued bombarding her with questions, she might not be able to finish working on the character today.

Layla quietened down after getting her consent and she giggled when the door to the Manager’s Office opened and her brother came out.

“Here comes the groom,” she whispered.

Annie looked up before standing with the other employees. Like always, Jason’s eyes were on her.

This time, he didn’t come out to survey the employees. In his hand was a stack of invitation cards and he started distributing them himself.

The employees finally took a break from their work and they offered words of congratulations.

“Annie, I think luck is by your side these days,” One of the employees said. “You just got a promotion and now you’re getting married too.”

“Mr. Ju’an is so considerate. Hmmm, if Annie hadn’t joined us, would any of us have been lucky to be in her shoes right now?”

No female employee in the Arts Department could deny having a crush on the Manager. But the man was already taken. They could only piece back their broken hearts.

“We are honored to be invited to your wedding. However, why is there no mention of a party in the invitation card?” One employee asked with a frown.

Jason only smiled and replied, “Because we want to keep it simple.”

“Hmph, boring,” Layla scoffed. “Annie, is it your idea? Why can’t we throw up a party at your wedding?”

“It is saving resources, Layla.” Annie smiled.

“Hmph, stingy,” Layla scoffed again.

As the employees chatted happily, a loud noise suddenly came from one of the cubicles, startling everyone.

Apparently, Priscilla was fed up with the pink bubbles floating around and she couldn’t keep it in any longer.

“Jason, people are allowed to disagree with the reunion during the exchange of vows, right?”

The employees gasped at her boldness. No one had ever dared to call the Manager by his name. Was this girl blinded by jealousy that she was turning crazy?

“That’s right, Ms. Wang.” Jason stared at her in confusion. If he was displeased by her blatant disrespect, he didn’t show it.

“Well, I will say my objection now. I don’t mean to be disrespectful, but you can’t marry her!” She pointed at Annie. “Only I can be your wife. Do you know how long I’ve been crushing on you, Jason!?”

Ah! Another scandal!

The Arts Department was in a frenzy after Priscilla’s open confession. And very soon, it was aired on the company’s forum.

“Is it true that Mr. Wang’s daughter has gone crazy?”

“Who knows? She made a fool of herself today. Everyone is saying she openly admitted her feelings for Mr. Ju’an.”

“These girls are so shameless nowadays! They can’t even maintain their pride.”

“Why can’t she wait until they start exchanging the vows?”

“How ridiculous. It was said that the Manager was so shocked that he couldn’t say a word.”

“She’s so shameless. I wonder how the other girl will be feeling right now that another girl is out there to snatch her man.”

In one night, Priscilla became a laughing stock in the whole company. Her action was funny and what was even more ridiculous was her shameless proposal to the Arts Department manager.

The man was getting married, after all.

But Mr. Wang found none of it funny. The man was fuming as he read the people’s comments on the company’s forum.

He gripped the tablet in his hand so hard, the screen cracked. And he ended up smashing the device on the wall!

“This is the biggest humiliation I’ve ever had in my life!” He sprang to his feet and thundered.

Who dared post such things about his daughter? Seemed like since the new CEO ascended, everyone had started underestimating him in the company.

Ah! They could even make jokes about his daughter and even ridicule her. Were they seeking death?
