Chapter 162: Chapter 162
“What!?” Priscilla felt as if she would faint in shock. Apologize to the girl?
She looked at Annie and her glare intensified. Throughout her life, Priscilla had never apologized to anyone.
How was she going to apologize to this girl that she hated the most? “Dad!”
Mr. Wang flinched at his daughter’s angry voice. He broke out of his shock and stared at the CEO, convinced that he hadn’t heard the man wrong.
How could he ask his princess to apologize to the girl? Even though that lowly girl might have a connection to the CEO, Mr. Wang found it demeaning.
That girl was supposed to apologize to his princess instead.
The employees held their breaths as the drama unfolded. Ah! The CEO and Annie… What was happening?
He even asked Priscilla to apologize to the girl. Were their speculations true?
“Will you or will you not?” The man stared at Priscilla. “The security are still here and they will be glad to escort you back to the police-“
“Ah, Mr. Lim, no!” Mr. Wang exclaimed. He swallowed his hurt and urged his daughter forward. “Dear, it is just an apology. Go to Ms. Lin and say you’re sorry.”
Priscilla pursed her lips. She didn’t like the idea.
Yet, under the CEO’s intimidating presence, she dared not refute the man’s orders. And she didn’t want to return to that filthy place.
Slowly, she moved forward and approached Annie’s cubicle. She looked like an offended child and threw daggers at the girl.
“Annie-“
“Do we know each other?” The girl raised a brow at her.
Priscilla bit her lips, trying to control her anger. She avoided Annie’s eyes and murmured, “Ms. Lin, please forgive me. I’m sorry for causing you trouble.”
Annie only laughed and returned to her work. That made Priscilla angrier and she clenched her fists.
“Ms. Lin.” She called out again. “Now that I have apologized, you’ll convince the CEO to give me back my job.”
“The decision is not in my hands.” Annie glanced at her. “Mrs. Ju’an, I didn’t say I have forgiven you yet.”
“You-“ Priscilla pointed at her.
“If Mrs. Ju’an will promise that she will stop being mean to others, I might consider accepting your apology. As for your job, I’m not sure my words will have any impact on the CEO.”
Some employees snickered secretly and some of them laughed openly. Seeing Priscilla’s bitter expression, they couldn’t get enough of it.
Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu also looked so enraged as if they were going to explode.
“Stop thinking too highly of yourself, Annie!” Priscilla couldn’t handle the shame anymore and she flared up. “Just because the CEO is protecting you doesn’t mean you can do as you please!”
The CEO’s area echoed with her cries and she covered her face then ran for the elevator. The security wanted to go after her but Mr. Wang quickly stopped them.
“Mr. Lim, my daughter has already apologized. Please let her go.”
Andrew’s eyes went to Annie who was back to working on the documents in front of her. “Train your daughter to be respectful towards others, Mr. Wang.”
“Sure. Sure. I’ll do that.” Mr. Wang nodded rapidly. “Mr. Lim, thank you for your kindness-“
“As for her job.” Mr. Wang hadn’t finished speaking and the man interrupted him. “MystiArt Productions doesn’t welcome people like your daughter. She will still leave this company.”
With that said, the man walked inside his office with the assistant following behind him.
Assistant Jiang couldn’t wipe off his smile. He was more impressed by how Mrs. Lim handled that girl. How dare they think that they could trifle with the couple?
Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu were taken aback as the CEO didn’t even give them the chance to plead further.
They both glanced at each other and Mr. Wang’s expression darkened.
What kind of humiliation was this? His daughter was going to lose her job for real, all because of that girl.
Mr. Wu stared at the girl who had on a peaceful look. Seemed like he had underestimated this girl again. No one could deny that the CEO was doing everything in her favor.
The men didn’t linger and they both left silently.
The employees on the other hand didn’t miss the last expression on Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu’s faces as they left the CEO’s area.
Their eyes went to Annie and they couldn’t help but feel fearful for the girl. She might have the CEO’s protection, but she just offended these cunning men again.
“Annie.” Layla went to the girl’s cubicle. She couldn’t hide her apprehension. “About you and the CEO… Annie, what’s going on? Don’t you know that offending those men…”
Layla was speaking in a low tone and the other employees wondered what the girls were talking about.
“Don’t worry about them.” Annie looked up and smiled. “If Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu want to harm me, the authorities will do their jobs.”
“Urgh! Come on.” Layla sat beside her. “Because of you, that witch lost her job. Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu can’t hold their pride anymore. I’m not afraid of trouble, Annie, but I can perceive danger ahead. Didn’t you notice how those men stared at you?”
“Stop fretting about it.” The girl looked all calm and collected. “I didn’t offend Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu. Priscilla started it. If they want to harm me, I might as well fight back.”
“Your courage scares me sometimes.” Layla sighed exasperatedly. “These girls are gossiping about you and the CEO. What is really happening?”
Annie cut her lower lips between her teeth and she chuckled. “Nothing.” She shook her head and looked down.
What was happening between her and the man?
She didn’t know and she didn’t want to.
The more he acted strangely, the more confused Annie got.
She just wanted them to keep being strangers. Why was he pushing her boundaries… Everything that happened three years ago was in the past. ‘Mr. Lim, what exactly is your goal?’
