Chapter 161: Chapter 161

The next day… At MystiArt Productions.

There was a foreboding silence in the secretaries’ area. Each of them pretended to do their work, however, they would look up now and then at the two men who had just arrived and were waiting for the CEO.

It wasn’t a surprise anymore that Annie’s cubicle was empty. The huge surprise to them was that they might be having misconceptions about that girl.

Didn’t the CEO protect her from Mr. Wang’s daughter? If it was one of the other secretaries that the same thing happened to, would the CEO have done the same?

The secretaries doubted so.

Since the girl arrived this morning, the CEO had summoned her into his office and she never came out. Thinking that he was punishing her was out of the question.

Honestly, they were confused. And they were more confused that Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu were personally here.

Well, they couldn’t wait to witness what brought the men. They weren’t so important in the company anymore, and most of the secretaries who were familiar with Mr. Wu disregarded him.

“Mr. Lim will come out in a few minutes. Please exercise more patience, Sir.” The secretary who had gone inside to get the CEO came out and reported to Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu.

The two men looked at each other before nodding to the girl. They didn’t bother to sit in the waiting area because they seemed to be in a hurry.

“Old Wu, do you think this is a good idea?” Mr. Wang whispered to his friend.

“We can’t lose hope yet, Old Wang. It might be true that MystiArt Productions is about to slip from our grasp, but we’re not so sure yet. If this plan doesn’t work, we might as well follow another one.”

Mr. Wang bit his tongue and sighed. Of all things, why did he need to apologize to the CEO?

His baby girl was still inside there and he couldn’t imagine what she was going through. He sighed again and listened to his friend.

If they took things slowly, it might turn out that their speculation was wrong. But Mr. Wang was truly convinced that the CEO was out to get them.

Moments later, footsteps came from the CEO’s office and they both looked up including the secretaries who had been pretending to be working.

Walking behind him was Annie. And surprisingly, the girl was holding stacks of documents.

Instead of stopping in front of Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu with the CEO, she simply walked past them and sat in her cubicle.

The secretaries looked between Annie and the CEO, their eyes burning with curiosity. What exactly was going on between the two?

Did the CEO give her more work?

They took their minds off the confusing people and focus their attention on Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu instead.

“Mr. Lim.” Mr. Wu cleared his throat. “We hope we didn’t interrupt your work. Actually, we are here regarding what happened yesterday.”

The man stared at them silently, with one hand in his pocket. One could tell he was a bit displeased at the sight of the two men.

“Erm, Mr. Lim…” Mr. Wang continued from where his friend stopped. “About my daughter. I truly apologize that she caused a scene here in your area. However, I implore Mr. Lim to go back on his punishment. My daughter is fragile, she can’t survive in that dirty place.”

“Is that what brought you here?” The man narrowed his eyes.

Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu glanced at each other. They were somehow intimidated by his angry look.

“Yes, that is what brought us.” Mr. Wu nodded. “After all, they are both your employees, Mr. Lim. It takes two people to fight. I am sad that the other employee is sitting here freely while Old Wang’s daughter had to be thrown into police custody.”

“So you think my punishment is unfair.”

“No. No. Absolutely not!” Mr. Wu waved his hand. “Mr. Lim, let bygones be bygones. Please forgive and release Old Wang’s daughter.”

The secretaries waited in anticipation to see what would happen next. Surely, Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu were gutsy. They even had the minds to question the CEO’s punishment.

To their shock, the CEO brought out his phone and dialed a number. After speaking to the other person, he looked at the middle-aged men.

“Apologizing to me is a waste of time. If I am convinced that Mr. Wang’s daughter won’t repeat the same thing, I’ll be happy to lift her punishment.”

Thirty minutes later, they all waited patiently. Yet, nothing happened.

Some of the secretaries were getting bored from waiting too long, and they decided to just focus on their work. That was why they were the most startled ones when Priscilla’s screams came from the elevator.

Mr. Wang jumped in excitement, seeing the security bringing out his daughter. He hurried up to them and took her from their hands.

“Dad!” Priscilla’s eyes were wet with tears. She was wearing the same clothes as yesterday. “Dad! I was wronged! You must seek justice for me!”

“Please calm down, Dear. Stop crying. The most important thing is you’re out of that filthy place.”

“Uncle Wu.” Priscilla pushed her father aside and hurried to Mr. Wu. “Didn’t you call the shots in this company? Why do people bully me? I thought the CEO listened to you.”

“It’s alright. Don’t speak too loud.” Mr. Wu gave her a warning look. “You must compose yourself, okay?”

Priscilla put on a gloomy look and slowly nodded.

How would she be able to compose herself, though? Just at the sight of Annie, she wanted to tear the girl apart.

While Annie worked silently in her cubicle, Priscilla glared hard at her as if she would tear her apart.

It didn’t take long before the CEO came out of his office again. This time, Assistant Jiang was following behind him.

Both the CEO’s and the assistant’s expression were the same when they saw the girl who bullied Mrs. Lim yesterday.

Even though she looked haggard as if she came straight out of a mental facility, Assistant Jiang wasn’t satisfied.

He thought there was a girl in this world who had the guts to lay hands on Mr. Lim’s wife.

Without giving her a second look, the CEO looked at Mr. Wu and said, “If she doesn’t want to be returned to that place, she should apologize to Ms. Lin.”

Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu were shocked including the secretaries.

Annie looked up from her work and her lips parted, staring at the man.
