Chapter 160: Chapter 160
…
At X City Central Police Department…
The hallway stretched far and wide, and the prisoners’ cells were far apart from each other. One had to make a very loud noise to be heard from the police counter.
And Mr. Wang’s heart twisted with pain as he heard his daughter’s continuous cries from one of the cells.
The man looked as if he had aged overnight. His expression was haggard and he looked so mad.
“That is my daughter in there. Officer, you must release her!” His shout filled up the area and the police officers looked annoyed.
Although this man looked formidable, he wasn’t as intimidating as the man who sent the girl here.
In the whole of X City, Mr. Lim had become a household name due to his good deeds and overflowing wealth.
In just a few months, the man gained the respect of every prominent figure in the city and the authorities didn’t dare defy his orders.
They would do anything to please that man, and in comparison to him, Mr. Wang was just like an ant.
“Old Man, you are disturbing the occupants. I advise you to be silent!” One policeman snapped. “What your daughter did is a criminal act. If you want to get her out of here, you might as well go and beg the victim on your knees. We have no say in this matter.”
Beg the victim?
Mr. Wang wanted to vomit blood on hearing that! He had to die first before begging that girl. It was no assumption anymore.
Since the CEO protected that girl from Old Wu in the meeting, Mr. Wang wasn’t a child to not fully believe that the two had a strong relationship.
What he didn’t expect was that the CEO would back that girl up to bully his daughter, apart from giving her the liberty to bring shame to him by investigating the case.
“Father-in-law…” Jason had been standing in a corner and he carefully approached the man. “Please calm down… I am sure-“
*PAK*
The guy hadn’t finished speaking and Mr. Wang slapped him hard. The policemen were astonished and Jason’s eyes flew wide.
“Is it not your fault, you ungrateful boy? If you hadn’t gone there to chase after that girl, would my daughter have landed in this trouble? I always knew you don’t love my daughter, but I didn’t expect you to set her up!”
To Mr. Wang, Jason did it on purpose. Judging from the boy’s reaction during the meeting, he wasn’t surprised that he would chase after that girl, forsaking his daughter.
Mr. Wang pitied his princess the most. How could she lose her job? He wanted to believe he was dreaming.
“Please calm down, Mr. Wang.” His assistant who had been begging the police supported the man to a chair. “This is not the time to be mad. Let’s think of a way to bail her out.”
“What other way? Do I have to beg that girl?”
It was almost midnight and Mr. Wang cringed at the idea that his precious princess was going to spend the night here in the cell. His wife had been calling him but he didn’t have the heart to answer her call.
“How about you give Mr. Wu a call?” His assistant suggested. “We can’t deny that someone is useless. Mr. Ju’an could speak to that girl, and he didn’t.”
Mr. Wang believed his assistant. Since his son-in-law and that girl were in love in the past, if he begged her, she would beg the CEO to let the police free his daughter.
He glared hard at Jason and his assistant also did the same. It was as if the assistant bore a deep grudge towards the guy.
Why not?
He was hoping to take Mr. Wang’s position after the man retired. He was even hoping to marry Mr. Wang’s princess to gain the man’s favor. However, the Arts Department’s Manager got in the way and he had to bid goodbye to his ambition.
All in all, both Mr. Wang and his assistant didn’t like the Arts Department’s Manager.
Following his assistant’s advice, Mr. Wang brought out his phone and instantly dialed his friend. “Old Wu, I’m in trouble.”
“What happened? You don’t sound alright, Old Wang.” Mr. Wu sounded as if he had just woken up from sleep.
Mr. Wang stood up and paced around. “The CEO himself fired my baby girl and sent her to the police custody. All because my stupid son-in-law couldn’t keep his hands to himself. As we’re speaking, my baby girl is living in that dirty place among the criminals.”
“Old Wang, I don’t understand…” Mr. Wu sounded confused. “Please explain further.”
Mr. Wang glared at the quiet Jason again and he forced himself to calm down. Then he narrated everything that happened from start to finish.
He had watched the leaked video on the company’s forum and saw everything that unfolded in the CEO’s area.
“That is abominable! How dare they?” Mr. Wu hollered. “Old Wang, are you sure you’re telling the truth?”
“Have I ever lied to you, Old Wu?” Mr. Wang sounded exasperated.
“Alright. Alright. Please calm down… Maybe we were too quick to release Mr. Yang’s scandal. Don’t you think the CEO was targeting us?”
“Are you blaming the CEO?”
“Old Wang, that man is smart. You know I’m cunning, so when I see someone acting like that, I easily detect it from their actions. All the things he said and did during that meeting were intentional. I have arrived at one conclusion… The CEO wants to bring us down…”
“How is it related to my princess’s case?”
“It is very well related, Old Wang…” Mr. Wu chuckled darkly. “You are right. MystiArt Productions is about to slip from our grasp. How can we let that happen, though?”
Mr. Wang sank into deep thought. Eh? So the CEO wanted to fish them out. He didn’t believe Mr. Yang was in the wrong.
Maybe they had leaked that video about Mr. Yang too early. But to teach his son-in-law a lesson, Mr. Wang did that intentionally.
Because the merging was supposed to happen yesterday, he thought leaking that video would distract everyone, especially the CEO.
It worked. Who knew it would backfire, by the way?
