Chapter 150: Chapter 150
“Ms. Lin, this case does not concern you. Don’t involve yourself in it.” For once, the man they least expected to speak finally opened up.
Everyone looked at the Arts Department’s Manager. He had been silent since the meeting began, so they were quite taken aback. Instantly, some Manager’s start whispering.
“Mr. Ju’an is evidently trying to protect Ms. Lin.”
“Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu looked serious with this case. If Ms. Lin involves herself in it, it will surely bring her trouble.”
“Ms. Lin just slipped out of their trap with luck. She won’t be foolish enough, right?”
Those were the Managers who weren’t backing Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu up. Some of them could remember Ms. Lin’s relationship with the Arts Department’s Manager so they understood that he was only trying to protect her.
Mr. Wang on the other hand looked so green that he balled his fist. He glared hard at the guy, however, Jason’s worried-looking eyes were on the girl.
So his baby girl had been telling the truth. The Boy still had feelings for Ms. Lin. Mr. Wang’s rage only increased and he wanted to flare up.
“Take it easy, Old Wang.” Mr. Wu patted his fist. “Let’s not make this situation worse than it is.”
Mr. Wang calmed down a bit before he spoke loudly. “Ms. Lin, this is a tough situation. If you admit that this girl is telling the truth, then it means you have something going on with Mr. Yang too. It looks as if you and this hopeless girl are pawns in Mr. Yang’s hands.”
“Mr. Wang.” Annie chuckled. “I’m flattered that you care so much about me.”
“Why not? I am only trying to protect you.”
Annie heard the man standing beside her scoff and she chuckled again.
“Ms. Lin.” Mr. Yang’s assistant put on a desperate look. “Aren’t you going to believe me? Are you going to listen to them?”
She single-handedly stood up for the Arts Department that day. The girl hoped that she would stand up for her too.
No one dared to challenge the CEO, but she did. Hoping that the CEO would listen to her if Ms. Lin spoke up for her, imagine the girl’s anxiety.
“Ms. Lin, please…”
“You don’t have to beg me.” Annie carefully extricated her hands from the girl’s grip. “Of course, I believe you.”
The girl sighed in relief.
“But you must know that without proving that the video is fake, my words won’t be enough to clear your name.”
Ah! Wasn’t she too brave?
Even Jason was flabbergasted. The worried look in his eyes increased as he stared at Annie. Expecting that she would exclude herself from the situation, he didn’t know she would dive right into it.
“How could you say you believed her, Ms. Lin? Is it true that you’re conspiring with them?”
“Ms. Lin, I think I’m beginning to believe Mr. Wang. You claimed you have no business with Mr. Yang and now you’re backing them up.”
“Ms. Lin should know her status. You can’t just say anything you want.”
“Gentlemen, this is only my opinion.” Annie looked away from the sobbing girl and stared at the men. “Saying I believe her doesn’t necessarily clear her name. Everyone is free to believe in whatever they want, right?”
Mr. Yang’s assistant wiped her tears and sniffed. Seeing that the situation was hopeless and even getting Ms. Lin to believe her couldn’t help much, she didn’t know what to do anymore.
Ms. Lin was right. Despite believing her, it didn’t mean the situation would turn out in their favor. After all, it was a hundred men against one man and two girls.
“Ms. Lin.” Mr. Wu looked irritated. “You must watch what you say. You can’t speak anyhow in front of us.”
Well, this girl was being too bold. Mr. Wu had only heard about her from Mr. Wang and now he was seeing how stubborn the girl could be with his own eyes.
If even the Managers were afraid to involve themselves, how dare she? To Mr. Wu, this girl was truly gutsy.
“Ms. Lin, you are conspiring with the enemies. I will have you fired immediately.”
Silence fell upon the room. Hearing Mr. Wu fire the girl on the spot was the last thing they ever expected.
But Mr. Wu was so enraged. He wondered why his friend didn’t ask him to have the girl fired in the first place.
If he had known she was this troublesome, he wouldn’t have asked the HR Department’s Manager to only demote her at that time.
“Ah! Mr. Wu.” Mr. Yang’s assistant was so shocked. She looked at Annie and gave her a guilty look. “Ms. Lin, I am very sorry. If I knew this would happen, I wouldn’t have dragged you into this.”
To their surprise, Annie didn’t look fazed. The girl folded her hands and only shook her head, gesturing to Mr. Yang’s assistant not to speak further.
“Mr. Lim.” Annie stared at the CEO who was watching everyone as if enjoying a movie. “It was great working with you. Unfortunately, I can’t enjoy the benefits of being an employee of MystiArt Productions anymore. I will excuse myself now and head to the HR Department.”
“Eh?” Everyone’s shock was replaced by confusion. This girl didn’t even beg and she readily wanted to go and process her sack.
Wasn’t she too strange?
“Where do you think you’re going?” As she walked past the man, he grabbed her hand. “Ms. Lin, aren’t you too hasty?”
“I don’t see why I should linger here, Mr. Lim. I just got fired by the all-mighty Mr. Wu.” Annie raised a brow at him, a subtle smile forming on her face.
No one could tell that she was just taunting the man in front of her. They all believed she was too brave to speak freely with the CEO.
“You don’t want this job anymore, huh?”
“Erm, that’s right.”
The man appeared angry at her words and he scoffed. Andrew had been enjoying the drama, but this girl managed to irk him. He wanted to see her frustrate Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu more.
Obviously, she was taunting him to speak up.
“Mr. Wu, I don’t believe you have a saying on who stays or who leaves MystiArt Productions. Aren’t you too bold by firing my secretary?”
“Huh?”
“Mr. Yang’s case will be on hold. His assistant claims it is an allegation, let’s see if she and Ms. Lin will be able to screen the criminals out.” He looked at Annie.
“Since Ms. Lin believes that Mr. Yang is not in the wrong, I give you the liberty to investigate this case together with his assistant.”
Annie narrowed her eyes at him, trying hard to hold back her laughter. ‘Mr. Lim, you really are clever, aren’t you?’
