Chapter 149: Chapter 149

The noise died down immediately after the man spoke. They all stared at the CEO, anticipating what he would say.

Mr. Yang’s situation was somewhat complicated at the moment. No one could conclude if the man was in the wrong or not.

“After all, Mr. Lim. The signs are evident. These girls will gain nothing from backstabbing Mr. Yang,” Mr. Wang backed him up.

“This is a situation that affects MystiArt Productions’ reputation. We must act fast before things get out of hand.”

Mr. Wu was the person that spoke last and the shareholders and Managers sitting with him all nodded in agreement.

Annie looked at the men’s faked worried looks and she sighed inside.

As if hearing her sigh, the man standing beside her glanced at her. “Ms. Lin, do you have anything to say?”

Before the security came inside with those girls, the man could recall her calling his name.

Everyone stared at Annie. Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu had on scrutinizing looks. Accessing the situation inside the room, she shook her head.

“I am a simple employee. Isn’t it above my status to contribute to this meeting?”

It was apparent that Mr. Wu and Mr. Wang weren’t fond of her. By speaking up, wouldn’t she be offending more than two people?

Especially after admitting that she was not acquainted with Mr. Yang. If only Mr. Yang had stood up for himself, then the reluctant people inside the room could back him up.

“Take the girls away.” The CEO instructed the security man who stayed behind. He nodded and came forward, then led the still-sobbing girls out.

Mr. Wu and Mr. Wang looked delighted. They didn’t even hide their smiles as they scoffed under their breaths.

Seeing how persistent Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu were in this case, the other Managers wondered what kind of offense Mr. Yang had committed against them.

Surely, they couldn’t underestimate these men. It seemed even the most upright Managers in MystiArt Productions wouldn’t be spared from their cunningness.

The Arts Department Manager’s case was a case study. And Mr. Yang’s case was an enough lesson to them.

“Mr. Lim, please say something. The well-being of our female employees is at risk. I am sure even Ms. Lin is only hesitating. If we don’t deal with Mr. Yang soon, I’m afraid we’ll regret it later.”

No one knew who just spoke among Mr. Wang’s followers. Because everyone’s attention was dragged to the door that was suddenly opened from the outside.

A female employee barged inside in tears. She didn’t go to the front but came directly to where the CEO was standing.

She all but fell on her knees and bawled loudly. “Mr. Lim, this is all a lie. It is an allegation against Mr. Yang. I swear that video is fake. None of those things they said are true.”

Mr. Yang’s assistant couldn’t keep hiding. Before Mr. Yang came here, he told her not to follow him, fearing that the people inside the meeting room would intimidate her.

If she had known that they would suppress the poor man to the point of passing out, she wouldn’t have listened to him. She would have followed him here and received the tribulation together.

“Mr. Lim.” She stared up at the tall figure of the man with teary eyes. “Everyone knows that Mr. Yang is an honest man. It’s not surprising that someone is out there to get him. Instead of passing judgment on Mr. Yang, I implore you to look over this matter.”

“Little girl, do you know what you’re saying?” Mr. Wang narrowed his eyes.

“Who gave you the right to enter here? Don’t you know that you can lose your job?”

“You don’t even fear the CEO. You’re shamelessly asking him to investigate the matter when the truth is evident.”

Mr. Yang’s assistant didn’t know that Mr. Wang and Mr. Wu must have something to do with the scandal. So she was intimidated by their words.

Yet, she couldn’t stop begging. If she didn’t seek justice for Mr. Yang, how could she live with the guilt?

Mr. Yang was extra caring towards her, but that was all. It wasn’t wrong for two people to develop affection for each other, right?

“That video is not true, Mr. Lim. I swear Mr. Yang and I are innocent!”

“Little girl, I advise you to shut your mouth!” Mr. Wu snapped at her. “Do you think we are fools or do you think we are blind? Aren’t you ashamed of showing your face here? Everyone knows it was you and Mr. Yang in that video.”

“Mr. Wu, please…”

“You are only an insignificant employee and you tried to tarnish this company’s reputation. You will not only be punished, your whole family will be implicated.”

It was as if Mr. Wu was the one in charge of the decision. He didn’t even give the girl any room to speak.

Why would Mr. Wu? This girl seemed to have a big mouth. Even Mr. Yang wasn’t able to defend himself. If this girl kept begging and crying, he was afraid she might touch the CEO’s heart.

“Ms. Lin, even if no one believes us, I hope you do.” The girl got up frantically and grabbed Annie’s hands.

Seeing that she was the only girl in the room apart from her, Mr. Yang’s assistant would do anything to have someone back her up.

“Ms. Lin, your position was at risk but Mr. Yang helped you out. You might not believe it too, but that’s the truth. Look into my eyes and tell everyone that I’m not lying. If the men don’t sympathize with me, at least, you would, Ms. Lin.”

Annie was once again dragged into the situation. She stared at the girl holding her hands tightly and begging fervently with her eyes.

How could she not believe the poor girl? Annie was smart enough to realize that Mr. Wang had something to do with Mr. Yang’s scandal.

If Mr. Wang also tried to make her unqualified for the secretary position, she wasn’t surprised.

“Little girl, aren’t you gutsy?”

“How can Ms. Lin possibly help you? Like you, she is also an insignificant employee.”

“Ms. Lin just bailed herself out of the situation. Won’t she be digging a hole for herself by getting involved in this?”
