Chapter Seven

Sonya

Sonya wake up and did her usual things. Kara and Sonya said goodbye and went different ways to their school. Sonya took bus and after a while she left bus. As she started walking towards her school she thought about what had happened in the past few days. She didn't know what to expect today. Finally she reached school. She was walking to her first history period when she heard murmurs. She entered and saw that the room was filled with new benches. Sonya suddenly stopped going to her seat and took a few steps backwards, out to the door. She saw that cameras were set and were blinking indicating they were working. She again walked into the room. She glanced at that group and all of them looked at her. She sat down. Professor Kristy entered the class and said "OK class. We are going to talk about Romeo and Juliet. Raise your hand if you ever studied this novel or know what the story is." Everyone in the class raised their hands. "Good, very good. It's good that you all know what this is about. I'm still going to teach you though. Who is going to give us a little backdrop?"

Shane raised his hand.

"Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare early in his career. It's a story about two young star-crossed lovers whose deaths ultimately reconcile their feuding families."

Prof. Kristy nodded appreciatively. "And why do you think it got famous for? What kept it alive even after all these years?"

Shane replied with a shrug "Maybe it's a story that speaks to everyone's heart. It has a sad ending which leaves many of us with a sour taste in mouth. It's special because in the end both of them dies."

"I don't think so." Sonya said. Now everyone's attention turned to Sonya. "This story has nothing 'special' in it. It got famous because people seems to like love story that has a tragic ending. People tend to hate all these sad endings, expect them to be a happy ending but always like sad endings and then asks why this ending has to be the way it was. You can see that not a single happy ending story gets famous but the sad one. People are stupid. Shakespeare added fuel to the fire and presented it with such drama that it ended up being famous. Otherwise according to me, this story has nothing special in it."

Everyone was looking Sonya incredulously. Sonya looked around and saw everyone looked at her like she was an alien.

Even prof. Kristy was frozen. Shane and his friends looked Sonya with disbelief. Sonya sank more into her seat. With this attitude, no one will be able to think that she was an introvert. Prof.

Kristy moved and said "OK everyone, I want you all to start reading about this. You have a very deep observation Sonya." She said to Sonya who seem to have irritated by everyone. 'Why did I even say it?' Sonya thought to herself.

"Ok, everyone I have an announcement to make. At the end of this week you all have to give a presentation and a test. There won't be a retest so make sure you all are present in your test. These marks will be going to add in your finals so you better be prepared."

Sonya hated giving presentation. She hated everyone's attention on her. She had to look in everyone's eyes and smile when she delivered her presentation. She tried a few times but always messes it up. She has to find a way to get out of this situation. Pro. Kristy continued delivering her lecture while Sonya sat cursing her fate.

When the bell rang Sonya went to her professor and stopped her. Sonya asked if it was possible to give another test instead of a presentation. After pursuing a little Prof. Kristy allowed Sonya to give another test.

She asked Sonya to message her for another test date. A relief passed over Sonya. Sonya nodded. She thanked her and went on her way.

Shane watched Sonya going to professor so he said his friends to go on that he'll meet them outside. He waited until Sonya left the room. He ran to professor Kristy and asked what Sonya told her.

She explained that Sonya wanted to give another test instead of presentation. Shane can't leave this opportunity to irritated her.

"Prof. Kristy that's totally unfair. We all should be giving another test then. You do know that presentation take so much effort than a test, it takes days and days efforts to collect the data, making a presentation and also practice speaking and you're going to give her marks equal to us when we all be working much more than her."

Prof. Kristy scoffed "You don't understand she has a stage fear." Shane knows exactly how to pursue her. "Many of us have the same problem but we do not ask for a retest. Do we? Many of us handle it on our own. If I'll tell other students their opinion will going to be the same." Hit the point.

"Okay fine, I'll talk to Sonya. She'll be giving a presentation just like you all are. Otherwise she won't get marks." Prof. Kristy replied.

There. Task completed. Let's see how you're gonna perform Sonya Allison. Shane thought to himself and smiled an arrogant smile.

Sonya

Sonya went to supermarket. She was picking some groceries when suddenly a slap came on her butt. It wasn't hard but it left a shock on her face.

She looked to a side and saw a boy probably not much older than her turn back with a smile and said "Sorry, I thought I knew you."

Sonya didn't say anything but went straight for the same guy who was now standing last in line for payment.

Sonya went straight to him pulled her hand back and then brought back with as much as strength she can and slapped that guy's butt.

The sound was sharp. It probably hurt him as he bent backwards with that stingy slap. Everyone was shocked but she didn't pay attention to them.

Sonya looked at the guy and said "Sorry, I thought I knew you." Sonya then looked at the shocked and horrified face of that guy and turned into different row of groceries.

She had thanked god when nothing happened in school today and she also got a chance to give test instead of a presentation. Then suddenly this happened.

She gritted her teeth. She still, felt a little relief. "Dogs! If she gets a chance to slit their throat off, she will." Sonya thought to herself.

Later when Sonya sat on her bed for homework she texted her professor about test. Her professor told Sonya that she has to give a presentation instead of a test. Sonya face goes pale.

She asked for the reason asking why she was denying now when she agreed before. Prof. explained that Shane convinced her saying it would be unfair to everyone else.

Sonya felt like she would throw her phone at the floor but she controlled herself. She didn't lose her composure. Instead she told her Professor okay. She will give a presentation.

Sonya thought to herself "So you wanna see me crumble?" Sonya for the first time in her life wanted to ace this task because of a moron. He thought she doesn't have the guts to do it. She will go out of her comfort zone to prove him wrong. He's in for a surprise.
