Chapter Twenty-Two

Sonya

It was saturday night. Meaning the day when Sonya and Alex had planned to invite all our friends for a movie night, the day when Alex would finally confess to Kara his feelings. That was the plan for the day.

The day when Sonya had called Alex, Sonya told him about what Kara had told me as an answer to his question. Sonya told him that Sonya brought up the topic and asked her the question. Kara told me that she would get into a relationship if she liked the guy. Sonya basically, repeated the whole thing as it was to Alex.

He listened to Sonya's answer carefully and then thought for a second. Finally, in the end he asked, if he should just go ahead and give it a try. Sonya was not expecting him to say it but then she suddenly thought that, of course all of this was coming to this. If it had not then he would not asked her in the first place. So, Sonya agreed.

Both of them came up with a plan that involved having friends over for a movie and Sonya finding up an excuse to get Alex and Kara alone for Alex to ask Kara out. There was probably no other way to do this. They had to do it this way. But they had to be careful, so that nobody else would find out about this.Otherwise the whole plan would fail.

Bearing all of this in mind, Sonya prepared for the movie night. She was nervous, thinking about all of the thngs. How would everything might turn out and if they were going to out right? What if something went wrong? What if everything would turn out to be a disaster?

Kara was helping Sonya prepare for the snacks and set up couch for a movie night. The pressure of having to deal with this new situation was getting to Sonya. Maybe, Kara noticed it because she asked Sonya.

"What happened to you?"

Sonya was taking out packets of chips from the cabinet when she got startled by Kara's question. "What do you mean?"

"You seem very distracted today?" Kara asked Sonya. Sonya did not realise that she was being distracted today. She was just thinking about everything.

"I'm not distracted. I just never had been in a movie night before." Sonya replied. Tried to cover up for herself. She needed to get a hold of herself othewise Kara will get a whiff that something was wrong.

"What really?" Kara asked, looking genuinly shocked. Well, it was not the truth but it was the only thing that Sonya could come up with.

"Yeah-" Sonya was stopped by the bell ringing. If Kara was not standing there at the moment, she would have sighed with relief, being saved by the bell and all.

Kara and Sonya both looked at each other before Kara moved to open the door and greet the guests. Sonya's heart began beating a little. All of this was like a secret mission for her, one that had to executed perfectly and it all was making Sonya nervous.

Kara opened the door and in came the hollar-voice of all guys.

"Aye ..."

"Yo ..."

"What's up ..."

And then all of them filed inside our house. Shane, Michael, Noah, Liam and Alex all walked in. Alex and Sonya made eye contact and a look passed between them. After greeting Kara all the guys greeted Sonya, Michael even hugged her. Sonya greeted them all in return.

Everyone headed towards the living room where they were supposed to watch movie. All the snacks and drinks were placed on the table in front. In no time, everyone secured one seat on the sofa or the floor, for themselves. Kara picked the remote and pressed the play button. The movie was already decided so there was not any hassale what movie to watch. Noah turned the lights of the living room and the movie started.

However, before Noah turned off the lights, Sonya felt as if somebody was staring at her. The moment Noah turned off the lights, Sonya turned to where she thought the stare was coming and for a very short glimpse, saw Shane staring at her. All of it was gone in blink of a second.

When Sonya looked after the lights turned off, she found Shane staring ahead and for a second thought if she had imagined it all. Was Shane really staring at her? Was it all her imagination? Sonya forced herself to look away. Shaking the thought of Shane staring at her, she settled down in the sofa. What would it change if he was staring at her or not?

All of them watched the movie. Someone speaking in middle to give their prediction on what was going to happen next, some giving their commentary and someone telling them to shut up. It was mostly guys but Kara chimed in the conversation with guys and every now and then. Sonya kept quiet the entire time.

Half way through the movie, Michael whined. "All snacks are gone. We need more snacks." He said, crumling a packet of popcorn in his hand.

"Then go get some. And bring for all of us too." Liam said to Michael, throwing last bunch of popcorns in his hands to Micheal. Instead of standing up, Micheal picked a popcorn that Liam threw at him and got stuck on his beanie, and ate it.

"Nah, man. I ain't standing up. The movie's about to get good." Michael replied.

"Dumbshit." Noah muttered to Michael. Michael raised his brow and pointed at Noah. "If you want it that bad then you go." Michael said.

"I did not ask for more snacks. I just called you dumbshit." Noah replied.

"I'll go and get some snacks." Sonya interuptted their bickering and everyone looked at her.

Liam looked at Michael. "You see, you're making her get us snacks, Michael. If you would have done it, she would not be offering." Liam told Michael.

"I'm not-" Michael started but Sonya interuptted him.

"No worries. It won't take long." Sonya said.

As soon as Sonya stood up to get some snacks, Alex stood up too. "I'll help you. There would be too much snacks for you to carry." He said, looking at Sonya. Sonya got the hint from his look and nodded her head in agreement. Noah threw a pillow at Michael.

"You're lazy." Noah muttered and Michael grunted.

Sonya and Alex walked out of the living room alone.
