Chapter 317: Chapter 317

This was Carl’s first time venturing far from the market, and he had done so with almost no preparation.

Standing on the back of the Stone Statue Ghost, he looked down at the dense jungle canopy stretching endlessly below him.

Giant trees created shade, hiding the mountains, hills, and even rivers. Countless strange and variously shaped trees were in abundance.

From time to time, one could spot Exotic Beasts and Magic Creatures shuttling and leaping about, with Wizard Apprentices and Knights involved in hunts.

Such a scene couldn’t help but bring a look of wonder to his face.

It was a truly wondrous creation of nature; the primitive forests of his previous life’s memory couldn’t compare to the scene before him.

"It is said that the Magic Forest was the final battlefield of the War of the Gods, and the unique terrain was formed when the Gods fell," Millie said, seeing the curiosity in his eyes. "Especially the goddess who governed life and plants. When her divine body scattered across the land, it made vegetation flourish even more."

Carl instinctively looked toward Wizard Marian.

No wonder she had come to the Magic Forest. Having studied under the Grey Robed Wizard Adison, she followed the path of life and plants, and training here must have offered her many benefits.

"The great war among the Gods has had an irreversible impact on this region. Mutated Magic Creatures, irregular tidal flows of Star Realms, and calamities from other dimensions cause periodic beast tides."

Millie sighed, "However, compared to the beast tides, sometimes humans are the most dangerous beings."

Whatever she was thinking about suddenly made her fall silent, and her expression darkened.

About three hundred miles away from the market, Wizard Blaze narrowed his eyes and gestured lightly with his hand. "We’re here!" he announced.

The Stone Statue Ghost beneath their feet folded its wings and plummeted toward the ground. As it neared the earth, it spread its wings to land smoothly.

The elegance and agility of the movement was astonishing.

The group dismounted from the Stone Statue Ghost’s back one by one, and Blaze said to Marian, "A few days ago, someone spotted a Nightmare Horse nearby. If it is here, the Dream Eater Moths will be too. Now it’s up to you to find its location."

The favorite host of the Dream Eater Moths was the Nightmare Horse, capable of controlling dreams. Each horse hosted at least four or five moths. This was common knowledge. ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ 𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹✶𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲✶𝗻𝗲𝘁

Marian nodded. Holding her Magic Wand, she walked over to a clearing, squinting as she slowly crouched and touched the grass with her wand.

One-Circle Witchcraft—Whisper of Life!

This was a witchcraft that allowed communication with plants. Due to its complexity, even Official Wizards rarely mastered it.

Not only had she mastered it, but she was also proficient.

Invisible mental waves, channeled by the Magic Model through the wand in her hand, expanded quietly in all directions.

Numerous points of light appeared in her perception, and mysterious whispers echoed in her ears, conveying various messages.

Suddenly, Marian’s eyes snapped open. Pointing ahead, she exclaimed, "I’ve found it! Over there!"

Blaze was delighted. "Good!" he exclaimed. He had indeed found the right person this time; Marian’s efficiency was higher than he had imagined! "Let’s go."

The group arrived near a stream.

An Invisibility Witchcraft formed a large cover, enveloping everyone and concealing their presence.

Millie’s eyes showed fear as she murmured, "Is that the Nightmare Horse?"

"Yes!" Blaze nodded. "A First Order superior creature, an offshoot of the legendary Unicorn, said to originate from a layer of hell."

Not far away, a black horse was lowering its head to drink from the stream. Its mane and tail were like flaming red fire. It was larger than a normal horse, and despite its physical presence, it somehow felt illusory.

And what Carl found most familiar was its innate aura that instilled fear. Fear Aura! It also possessed a Fear Aura! Though weaker than that of the Abyss Giant Squid’s, it could only deter weaker creatures. Nightmare Horse! A Legendary Creature, said to control lightning and traverse dreams, immune to most psychic and physical attacks.

"Let’s go!" Blaze motioned. "Back away slowly. Don’t alarm it."

A First Order superior creature meant that even if he and Marian joined forces, they were most likely no match for it. Moreover, even a Second Circle Wizard would have a hard time capturing it, given that the Nightmare Horse could escape at any time by traversing dreams.

Luckily, such creatures were not belligerent, and their attacks mainly consisted of psychic assaults. With proper preparation, there was no need for fear.

The main concern was scaring away the Nightmare Horse, which would prevent them from getting to the Dream Eater Moths.

After retreating a certain distance to ensure they wouldn’t startle the Nightmare Horse, Blaze took a wooden box from his person.

The wooden box was very small, only the size of a child’s palm, with intricate patterns and symbols carved upon it.

He opened the box, revealing a black pill inside.

"Fire!" Blaze commanded firmly.

A wisp of flame appeared and sank into the pill. The pill glimmered slightly and then began to emit smoke.

"This is Dream Incense. It can generate a variety of dreams and is perfect to attract the Dream Eater Moths," Millie explained. "But the Dream Incense’s effect doesn’t cover a large area, so it needs to be used near the Dream Eater Moths.

"That’s also why we needed Wizard Marian’s help."

She had taken a certain liking to Carl, who was skillful in business. During the journey, the two of them had whispered to each other, becoming gradually acquainted.

Carl understood. The Wizard World was filled with strange and myriad things, many of which he had never seen or known about.
