Chapter 34: Chapter 34
"Yup."
Getting to the outside, the warm air flows into my nostrils as I inhale sharply, before going to the parking lot to find my car with Shade besides me, since her car is also parked within the space.
My car being found, I enter with an high-spirited body that's completely the opposite of the morning's and start the engine, and drive home, Shade driving not to far behind me.
It doesn't take so long before I get home and park the car inside the garage. Just in time, I get out and stroll to the front gate, Shade is just entering her house. I wait for her to alight, getting down, she waves at me and I did the same, before I enter.
There was not much for me to do at home except route in the routine of watching movies on Netflix, playing few games, and eating of ice creams. When it's six-thirty, I change my attire to an oversized white shirt, who's neck is approximately thrice to my very own, and I slide it down my left shoulder, so that it looked it was an one-sided shoulder-less shirt. Coupled with it, I put on a charcoal joggers and black sandal.
Once I'm done, I make my way over to the door and lock it behind me once I'm out, knowing that Mom and Dad won't be back from their outing, which they had informed me about in a small note, taped onto the fridge. I cross the street to Shade's house to find her ready when she opens the door for me.
She's wearing a simple undershirt, with black jacket that mars her golden skin due to the befalling darkness from the sky, black pants and walking boots. Her outfit is sharp and curt.
The drive to the Cinema doesn't take long, perhaps ten minutes, which can be assume to take at least seventeen minutes with legs.
Shade and I step out of her car, after she's parked it by the street and we approach the building. She opens the door before me as she takes her phone out and glance at it.
"Mia should be here, but she hasn't sent me a message."
Just while she complains, I stare ahead to find Mia, wandering her eyes about to find us, I assume.
"Calm shade, there she is." I say, pointing my fingers to pinpoint where the lost-looking Mia is standing, next to the booth where the popcorn is located.
"Oh..." She trails off and walks ahead, beckoning me to trail after her. When we get near Mia, shade hollers in her direction.
"Look who's here. Arrived early, uh?"
"I would not want to miss out on anything."
"I see." Shade says, smiling, and glancing over to the popcorn booth.
"Are we going to stand here or what?" I chime in, causing both of them to realize that time is waiting for us.
"Oh, yeah. You guys go ahead, I'll meet up with you after I've gotten the popcorns, and... icecreams?"
"Yup. I want the corny type—chocolate on top, with thr strawberry down." Mia is quick to say in response to Shade's statement.
Shade only smirks at her, before she turns her eyes on me, an silent attempt to tell me what I'd like.
"Just any will do." I tell her, and she nods. When it comes to icecreams, I don't really choose, because Mom's always bought me all type of icecreams, so I guess that's made me adapt to every kind there is.
"Okay, coming right away." Shade says, and Mia nudges my arms to tell me to follow her. "You guys help me leave a seat, while I go get our things."
"Sure." Mia says as we leave. I shift my behind so that I can look at Shade when we are almost entering and she's at the booth, talking to the curly-haired lady with broad smile.
"Are you sure you can carry everything?"
"Yeah, go." Shade says and turn back to the lady.
Mia squeals beside me as we enter. I can feel her aura of delight in the air, hovering around me. I just shake my head, and prepare for the movie.
It was fun. Real fun. So much fun. Exhilarating. Mia is one explanatory word for drama queen, the way she soaks up, with tears brimming her eyes when the scenes turns to sadden romance — especially where the male character leaves the female because of their rifts. It's an amazing movie though about a roller coaster life of a guy and girl, named Hayden and Tessa. I wouldn't really admit it that much, but I'll surely try my best to watch the book one of the After series.
The movie has finished and we are walking out of the Cinema, having talks about the film's ending where Tessa met her Dad.
"As soon as the third series is out, I'm in instantly." Shade says, and Mia could only nod in agreement to her words. I, on the other hand is thinking about watching the first series though.
The cool air of the moonless night seeps into my pores, reminding me that it's late at night; 8:20 PM.
I turn to my friends when the thought of seeing Martha, the librarian about the mystic book— since I somehow couldn't find it after the other night when Lydia threatens me, and met with fretful message on the wall of my bedroom as well— if it's with her.
"Guys, I want to visit the library on the way." I tell them as we enter the car.
"But it's late." Shade says. She's taking the driver's seat, Mia at the back, and myself on the passenger seat.
"I know, I need to see Martha, she's the librarian." I tell them, and Shade says nothing, but hum, nodding in suit, and turn on the engine...and we are on the way.
"Here we are." Shade says, stopping the engine. Mia groans, lying face-up on the back seat. When I turn back to look at her, I'm surprised that the length almost engulfs hers.
"I will soon be back, just want to ask something." I say as I get down. I look at the silent street in front of me, and past it to the library's building. The darkness from the sky, doesn't favour me at all as the views were obscured.
"You sure you don't want me to come with you?" Shade ask, concern etches her tone. I smile and gaze back to Mia.
"If you do come, who's going to save Mia if she's attacked." I say, and Shade laughs.
"I'm only sleepy, not drunk." She argues.
I wave a gesture of dismissal at Shade, and gait to the library. I turn at the next corner, by a bungalow building, clearly able to see the library from my position.
I drop my eyes to the ground, and raise it again to find two people, walking opposite, towards me, on either sides of the street. An hint of horrific imagination lurks in, but I manage to chase it away as soon as it came. I'm not going to be kidnapped. Stop being silly. I'm almost at my destination.
As I get closer, I notice they are both guys, wearing hoods such that their faces were covered. Passing by one of them, I watch him from the corners of my eyes, my heart, suddenly start beating frantically when I see that there's a light glow in his eyes, and before I can pass by, his hand find mine, and pulls me back, erupting a yelp from me.
