Chapter 6: Chapter 6
Beauty is the lake, catching my sight that I can't look away from the settled water, the small light from the sky, as if being photocopied into the images pronounced by the lake. It's like an inverse diagram of it, but when the water start to move up, its surface tension becoming being extended, creating some kind of elasticity in the water. As it moves up from the middle to form an average tank-size ball, I shift my gaze to the grand figure of Nicklaus.
He looks so heavenly, so god-like. His skin seems to glow under the lights, his shirtless pale chest, setting out to whip me more than it already has. It's like watching those stars men models in magazines.
I manage all my might to focus on what he's doing. His hands, bending the water is so perfectly in sync with one another, performing an unclear rhythm that moves the water upwards and forming more of the image he has in mind — a ball of water. I watch as he bends the lake up to the stage that the whole water takes to his order, lowering in its height just to heed to his command. Then, unexpectedly, he floats in the air, and swirls his body fastly that the water reels around his swirling frame, and when he stops, the water continues its master's command...but surprisingly, the water falls abruptly back into its space, soaring harshly as it makes tides that disturb it and causes it to make crashes.
Returning my eyes to Nicklaus, I see that he's looking at me. His hand jams down at his side, and that one action causes the lake to calm, and like that, it's like nothing never displace it.
He gazes from me to the water, and back from the water to me. "One must complete the sequence or else there will be a permanent displacement, which will definitely affect what you have been working on, destroying it. Until I do the right thing, the water will never calm, and won't listen to me if I'm to force it." He explains to me, but I understand none.
I laugh because that is all I can do. "I don't understand anything."
"You sleep well?" He changes the topic. I am a bit offended.
"Not too well." I say, and instinctively gulp as he takes steps towards me, revealing his fine body to me, giving no other choice than to stare at them again, and again, and all over again. The way those muscles and relax against his skin is so hypnotizing and staring at his glowing blue eyes with streaks of red tint is as intoxicating. I can't help it when he's this close.
"You look beautiful." He tells me, adding fuel to the heat waves that anytime from now can explode to a raging fire.
"Thanks." I am flushing.
"I suppose you have questions that needs answers." He didn't ask since he's sure. I nod my head and he takes a seat on the floor across from the lake and pats the ground for me to sit. I take a seat beside him, and cross my legs under me so that I am sitting on it. I feel his coldness seeping into my body, but it doesn't affect me at all. I only feel it. While he puts his hands on his knees, and locks them, I rest my head on his broad shoulder, feeling the physique bears against my skin, sending a needing feeling down my core. I fail to shake the feeling away.
Packing my hair to a side so it doesn't disturb his skin, I begin. "How do we do it?"
"You ask me questions and I answer? Those I can." He puts condition.
I laugh slightly. "I don't even have much to ask, so don't panic." When he says nothing, but stare ahead, I take that as an invitation to begin my questions. "Can you explain more to me about Vampires and Vampire hybrids?"
Nicklaus exhale heavily. "Vampires are creatures of the cold, known as The Cold Ones. They have their own abilities as well as us, who are their hybrids. The only difference is that we are created from their ancestors cross-breeding, which leads to a prophecy said to destroy our very world get destroyed, and that's when we were forced to come to earth. So, this is why we, the hybrids are forbidden. Vampires are the real creatures who should be the Originals, well, that's if there was to be one. But now that we're more powerful, even though nature is not giving us the chance to be accepted by it, we are still the one blessed to mate with one, who will take the ring from within the cave. A mate, who will fight the grand protector, the first."
"What do you mean by fight the grand protector?" I ask, seriously confused.
"The grand protector, who is my grandfather and the beast of Gevadaun is one whom a mate of each of us — the Originals, the Wildlings, and the Ryders will compete to win in order to take the ring and once that's done, whoever wins between us will be the grand ruler, that is, one to control the remaining two party in any way they want. Not only this do we believe, or agree in, but that one who has the ring has the power of all the ancestors of the witches and therefore should be blessed by nature to be redeemed and be accepted." He says.
I check my thinking box all over again. If I understand him, this means that there's really nothing much to this hatred shared by them all, except because they are fighting for one ring that will proclaim one of them as the main ruler.
"So, this is all like a competition? That's why you guys hate Wildlings, and Wildlings hate you, and do goes for Ryders to you...this is why you all hate one another?"
"Exactly. But there's more to the story that makes us never to be able to merge. We can never share a company."
"Okay, I think it's time we change the topic."
"As you wish." He state rather nonchalantly, but I find it seductive, which I want to slap myself for.
"Why would you as a dead creature have blood?" I blink up at him, but he gives a half smile, half frown, not looking at me still.
"As I have said, nature despised us for what we're destined to have done. For this, when we were being sent to the mortal world, it makes sure that we share blood as you humans so that we can feel some humanity. It's some kind of punishment to make us learn, but there still are some of us that never feels. I was once one. We all was once are. And by we, I mean all Vampire hybrids. Normal Vampire, who still have no blood as for theirs are even less dangerous than us naturally. The blood that runs in our veins is to make us weaker, feel pain, become less untamed, and I guess, being able to help Vampires in some ways. We, having blood has proven to be more advantageous than we expected. I mean, it aids in making us know more about our preys, and also it aids...in... erection." He finishes.
Raising my head hastily, I catch the flush on his face which makes him look bit human. But then, it's gone, leaving only pale cheeks. I pop my eyes wider at the last word, having some funny issues with it. Who knows foul mouth doesn't really fit Mr. Damn handsome Nicklaus Originals?
"So, your having blood is like a lesson to change you guys. I don't think nature hates any of hybrids then. I mean, why will all punishment turns out to be helpful. Nature isn't gullible, right?" I don't know why I add that last part.
"It isn't." He laughs. "Reading your mind is fun. It's like an open book, whose inside is full of funny events." I raise my head and scowl at him, resulting in more laughs from him.
"Thanks for describing my mind for me. If no problem at all, I'll like us to continue what we started." I fume, but meant nothing.
"Yes, ma'am." Nicklaus raises his arms, and put them back in place when I want to rest on his shoulder again.
"I want to know about my parents." My voice changes.
"They are perfectly okay. I swear. Aaron is checking on your mother at the hospital, while your Dad is at home, instead of missing you or something related, he's busy with his at-home business work." Nicklaus says, his voice so serious. I believe him.
"What about Lydia?" I ask the question, that's been dreading the back of my mind all day.
"She's at least tamed for now. I think she's still crowding up armies for now, or something. I'm not so sure, but I know she will still find an army of hers since she never can rely on Ryders to take care of everything for her. I'm sure the position of her mate is the only thing that makes her worthy in their eyes. For now though, she hasn't made any threatening move." His arm takes me by my side, pulling me closer to his cold figure, which is not affecting me and kisses my hair. I shudder from the surges that vibrates down my head to my center. God...!
I snuggle into his bare chest and ask. "So, are you guys the king of this territory?"
"What?" He laughs. "Well, yeah, but..."
"What?" I'm bit annoyed. Why does he find my seriousness a play?
"I'm sorry. It's just that I never consider myself or Adeline, neither father or mother as what you meant." He tells me, and for a reason, I know it's true.
"You've gotten another question?" He ask and I shake my head in a firm "no."
He keeps silent as me and closes the aloof space between us, and presses his lips against mine, sending utter vibration through me, pleasure embedding my thinking. I put my hands at the sides of his face and kiss him deeply. Nicklaus breaths heavily into my mouth and I allow him. He pushes himself away from me and closes his eyes. I look at him, concerned but know not what to do. When he opens them again, there's more reddishness on his lens.
