Chapter 4: Chapter 4

About an hour later, I'm ready to go to my house when Nicklaus has collected the information from his father that my Mom and Dad are on their way home. So, before we'd get there, they would have been home and he'll be able to do his weirdo stuff. Still at the back of my mind, I don't feel comfortable with this — hell, I can never be — but what choice do I have?

The drive was spent in total silence; my heart accelerating frantically and felt as though choking me at my throat. Yeah, it's gotten that much far. Thank goodness, due to Nicklaus' wild way of driving — which I would have called maniac on another circumstances, but couldn't do — we arrive at my house sooner. I am thankful that he says nothing, but give me a little time to calm myself when he's turned off the engine.

"Do you not want to go?" He ask lowly, almost whisperingly. I close my eyes, a practice to reel in the enjoyable sound of his delicate voice, hoping it'll calm me. This wasn't easy after all.

"No, I...want to. I should." I stammer.

"How about we do it this way, go inside, have small talks with them, and I'll come in when you're ready and make them not to worry that you'll be leaving them for a while." All while he says this, his hand is on mine next to the automatic gear.

I nod, hesitantly open the car door, and walk pass the side of the street to the inside. I watch the flowery compound, the fountain, and many others I might not have notice on my first day here, and finally enter.

From the dining area, I hear the chattering cheers of Mom's, talking with Dad, who's chuckling as well. Before I get near, I already know the mood I'll meet them. Mom's changed her dressing to a black pant, and blue shirt, whose sleeves are rolled up, while Dad's sprinkling the water in his damp hair at her playfully, wearing a V-neck ashy shirt, and likewise black jeans. They stop to acknowledge me, and Mom gives me a sheepish smile, then, wink.

"So, how was your night?" She ask me, still having those will-forever-frustrate-me smirk.

"What?" I seriously have no idea of what she's saying.

"Oh, come on, Nicklaus told us. You were tired and slept off in his car on your back. So, since he doesn't know our place, he took you to his instead." She says, surely. I almost can't believe my ears.

"Oh, no, darling. We're totally fine by it. We trust you. You aren't that type of girl." She tells me, smiling wider. She doesn't know what type of girl I am. Not myself knows at the moment.

I take a seat. "How's your health, Dad?"

"Great, darling." His brown hazel eyes bore into my silver grey ones, seeming more brighter than a day ago.

"I see." I say, and go into silence. I breath, and force the words out. "Mom, Dad, I need to go away for a while, to you it's a camp vacation, a private one. You shouldn't come to see me at school or miss me for this stated while of which I'll be leaving. It's for our own sake. I don't want you getting hurt because of me. Just stay happy as you have before I came in, and please maintain it without me. I love you both."

Once I'm done, with a prick of tears in my eyes, I look at the both of them from my fallen gaze, but to my surprise, they look lost. I shoot up rather abruptly, but seeing Nicklaus behind me, I have an idea he's started his supernatural, hybrid thing.

His blue eyes, mixed with an hint of creamy yellow shines down at me, and he nods before he says. "It is done."

I look back at my parents to find them sleeping. "Why are they sleeping?"

"No reason. I just made them." He tells me. "Let's go." He adds, and with one last look at them, I shift my eyes to Nicklaus and walk out with him.

In silence again, we get to the car and he starts it before he pulls off, yet again driving wildly.

"You know, somebody in this car hasn't gotten numerous lives like you, so therefore, please do drive calmly, okay?" I say, nonchalantly, or so I hoped.

"I haven't gotten numerous lives." He counter. "I die like you, I have blood like you. I feel pain like you. We, as a Vampire or Vampire hybrid, are almost humans." He shrugs, and glances sharply at me.

"I don't agree. As a typical human, one don't drive like this." I counter back, rather bit harshly. Earlier's even is still affecting my brain, making me irrationality irritated.

"Really? Maybe I should show you some of the humans driving ten times wildly as mine on YouTube." He laughs, while I huff. He does watch YouTube. Hell, this isn't what I expected from a Vampire hybrid. Hell, this fucking isn't anything close to it.

I blank my mind. "I'm calling Shade." I take out my phone from the dashboard of the car, and dial her number. First call miss. I try again, and on the second ring, she picks up.

"Rayne? What the...I heard about your father's." She says into the phone, mumbling as if chewing on something.

"Yeah, but he's fine now."

"Oh, thank God, then. Where you at? At home, I can come and see you?" Her voice is a bit clearer.

"No, don't. Um, I'm going away for a while. Well, not like going away whatever you might be thinking. It's a camp vacation, a private one. So, I won't be coming to school that frequently. I just wanted you to know." I say to her, raising my voice as the swooshing sound of air intensify.

"Oh, that's...and I suppose you're on your way." Shade's tone is not so okay.

"Yeah." My voice is as low as a whisper that I wonder if she even hears.

"Okay. Well, I'm just a phone call away."

"We'll talk later." I force a smile as though she could see me and hang up the call.

A short silence.

"You don't look so happy." Nicklaus says to me. I look at him, and sigh. Damn, he's so handsome.

"I don't know..." I trail off into nothing but drawling. "What was about that 'main territory' stuff you wouldn't tell me yesterday?"

He glances at me again, makes no remark and begin. "I should have told you this, but now's right too though. The main territory is where we are going to now. The cabin is just a temporary place for us to stay for the meantime. Now that Lydia has threatened, I have no other choice than to take you there, where you'll be more safer and you know, learn more things about us." He explains.

I frown. "Wait...is that place like a territory? I mean, territory. Vampire territories like in the movies?" I can't believe this. There is so much adventure to this journey. It would have been more interesting if only that Lydia or anyone else doesn't want to kill me.

"Like in the movies." He confirms.

Wow!

"Is it still more farther?" I can't help but to ask. This is like being in a movie to me, and scenes like this in movies are amazing. Real life can't be different too, right? Sure! I can already begin to imagine the beauty I'll see and such.

"Not too far. Mother, Father and Adeline are there already, waiting for us. And I'll advise you not to get your hopes too high. It's not anything like in the movies. As I have said, we are like humans." He says. What ever that is suppose to mean, I'll not let it destroy my new found enliven mood.

I learnt that the main territory is farther than how Nicklaus had mentioned it earlier. It was outside of Murrysville, meaning that we're now out of town. I don't know this new location because he wouldn't told me. He mentioned something about it being my safety. I don't understand how he doesn't tell me lla location keeps me safe.

The raucous driving of his comes to a slow motion when we enter a new community. It's like an estate when we enter, and I check the place as we pass by. I watch the list of people on the way, seeing something that caught my eyes in them. They all look so alluring, and not of this world. Something like a Greek god in human flesh, and then my brain wheels over to Nicklaus' face. He's like a Greek god as well. Oh, fuck! Am I...

"Exactly." He tells me to my disadvantages, because I find myself leaning into him, not caring that he's driving. "Calm down, nobody here will hurt you." He laughs hysterically.

"They are real?" I ask, disbelieving my own tone.

"Of course, what do you think?"

You can read my mind. I wanted to comment, but decide against it. "I thought, er, I was..." I trail off. I don't know why even after anticipating that this is what is to happen, I still can't help but act unexpectancy.

"You have nothing to worry since you'll be staying at my place." He smirks his oh-so-misceivous smirk.
