Chapter 93: Chapter 93

It felt like deja vu. How I now ogle the structure as I stand in front of our workplace. The heartbeat I had experienced in the past was still present. The amazement as well as anxiety.

I breathed in and out. I took one look at myself before deciding to walk. I can't deny that my nervousness doubled when I entered the company. When I was at home, I had already prepared for the employees' scrutinizing looks, that's why I was surprised when all I saw in their reactions was pure shock. Some of the employees are still familiar to me. There are some that I don't know, maybe they came in when I was gone.

I tried to plaster a small smile on my lips. "Good morning," I greeted formally.

The employees quickly returned to their respective ways and greeted back. Some of the staff who is wondering about my presence also did the same, maybe they felt that I was one of the higher ups. After that, a woman came right up to me and introduced herself as Daddy's secretary.

"I will take you to your office, Madame," she said politely.

I only gave a modest nod and then walked with her. I can't help but feel other people around me as I distance myself from them. I was expecting them to gossip about what happened years ago, but that didn't come. All I heard was some people asking who I was and then my return.

In less than five minutes, I was already inside Daddy's office, which would also be my space. I looked around for a moment and smiled at the simple design of the place. A combination of white and gray. Before I left home, Daddy told me to change the office to the design I want, but as far as I can see, it's not necessary. It's okay with me. I like it.

I walked towards the swivel chair and let myself sit with ease. Daddy's secretary immediately went to the front of my table and bowed slightly.

"Which do you prefer to have, Madame? Coffee? Tea? Juice?" she asked.

I smiled before gently shaking my head. "No need. I already had breakfast. Just tell me my schedule for today," I replied.

She nodded politely and looked at her notes. "You have two meetings for today, Madame. 8 o'clock in the morning with Mr. Revelar and 3 o'clock in the afternoon with Mr. Sanchez."

I unconsciously bit my lower lip after hearing his name. Yes, I am aware that we will meet today, but I never thought it would be this early.

Eight o'clock? Seriously?

I simply looked at my wristwatch and felt my senses when I saw the time. It's already 7:26 AM. I wanted to curse badly at my sudden uneasiness.

I cleared my throat and dismissed my father's secretary. I leaned my back on the swivel chair for a moment and slowly closed my eyes. I don't know but I suddenly fell into a deep thought.

Yes, it was a few years ago. In those past times I learned to forgive and forget. I was naive and impulsive back then. Besides that, I don't have the slightest confidence in myself. That's why when the person I thought was real appreciated me, I was so grateful for that opportunity. I was once in love with him, but now, I don't have that anymore.

Maybe I was too uneasy because I don't know how to interact with him this time. I plan to be casual but I can't rule out the chance that he won't treat me well. If that ever happens, it's impossible that our conversation today will have any purpose.

I shook my head in disbelief due to my advance thinking and let out a deep breath. Just then my cellphone rang so I took it out of my bag. I couldn't help but smile when I saw Mama's name on the screen.

They are now awake.

"Good morning," I said softly when I answered the phone.

"Why did you leave so early, Mom?" Gia's voice sounded confused.

Guilt and sadness crept inside my chest. I didn't want to leave them right away earlier but I had to leave home early because the company was far away. I secretly took a deep breath and played with the ballpoint pen on my desk.

"I'm sorry, baby. My work place is a bit far this time," I explained.

My daughter did not immediately speak on the line. I know she's torn between being okay with my explanation and being sad because of it. When we were still in America, I somehow managed to take care of them in the morning so I can't blame him for suddenly looking now.

"I'll be back later, okay? I will cook our dinner," I comforted.

I bit my lower lip after that. Hoping that she'll accept my offer. I know it's a small thing compared to what my children are going through but I still want to make it up to them somehow.

"Okay, Mommy. Get home soon. I'll be waiting for you."

I smiled a little at her response. "I love you," I said sincerely.

"I love you too, Mom. And of course, Kuya Gio loves you too," she replied.

"Thank you for understanding, baby. Where is he, by the way?"

"He's helping Grandma prepare our breakfast."

I unconsciously chuckled at my daughter's call sign for my mom. Since they have two grandmothers, they chose to call Mama grandma while Mommy Francheska is grandmammy. They call Daddy Grandpa. I found it cute and lovely.

"Alright, baby. I'm at work now. I need to hang up the call," I said goodbye.

"Okay, Mommy. See you soon. Take care always. I love you!"

I smiled again. "I love you t—" My words were cut off when I saw a familiar man in front of me.

Agustine was standing two meters away from my seat. Staring at me with his cold hazel brown eyes. I did drop the ballpoint pen I was playing with in shock.

"You seem distracted to not notice my arrival, Ms. Dagsinal," he said along with an aura of intense danger.
