Chapter 90: Chapter 90
"Where did you go?" Mommy Francheska asked when I came home.
She had a glass of wine in her hand as she sat on the couch. The epiphany suddenly came back to mind. I can't help but get annoyed and feel awful.
I made my way up to her slowly. When I reached her front, I turned and gave her a hard stare. She met my cold gaze head-on.
"Why?" I whispered.
She raised an eyebrow. She didn't speak and just waited for me to add to what I said. My eyes clouded with tears.
"Why did you send me to him, knowing that he's a dangerous person?" I continued.
Her face lost all emotion. She slowly distanced her back from the chair and then placed the glass she was holding on the center table. After that she crossed her arms while looking at me.
"Are you going to blame me?" she asked again instead of answering my question.
I laughed so hard and my tears started to fall. "Did you even think of me as your child?"
"You wouldn't be in this household if I didn't accept you as a child." She averted her gaze.
The firm clenching of her hands did not escape me.
"Yeah. You accepted me in this house but not in your family," I blurted.
Her eyes quickly returned to mine. "Do you hear what you are saying, Khrystal? What do you expect me to do? Kiss you? Pamper you? Do you forget that you are my husband's illegitimate child?"
I let out a broken laugh again. After that, I gave two feeble nods and then wiped the tears from my cheeks.
"I get it. You chose me because you didn't love me. You don't care about me. But I hope at least a little! I hope you give consideration to my feelings!" I could no longer avoid raising my voice because of the resentment I felt.
She rose up from her seat and pointed at me angrily with her fingers. "Don't blame me for why you're hurting right now. I did not tell you to fall in love with him! I did not ask you to fall for his traps! And for Pete's sake, I don't even know his plans. I had a hunch that he had other plans but I still thought that the reason why he was here was business. I even warned you!" she shouted back.
"How can I not blame you if all this happened because of you! Because of what you did to Agustine's family, he took revenge! That's why I'm hurting right now!"
She stopped in her place and looked at me with wide eyes. There was a lot of shock on her face. She blinked a few more times as if processing what I said.
I saw Manang came out of the kitchen and worriedly watched us. She wanted to ask but she stopped herself, maybe she knew we were talking about something important.
"You had an affair with his father." I stared at Mommy Francheska.
There she completely lost her composure. Even Manang got shocked with what she heard.
"So tell me, how can I not blame you? First of all, you had an idea that he was a danger to our family, but you still sent me. In addition, you had an idea that he approached us with a motive, but what did you do? Nothing! You even put me as a bait to save your own daughter!"
A strong slap landed on my cheek. I could clearly see Mommy's eyes turning red with anger. She pointed at me; trembling. Manang quickly came to my side and gently grabbed me from the side to calm me down.
"Yes. I had an affair with his father. But that doesn't mean that I know everything about him!" she shouted. "Like I said, I also thought that the reason he came here to Vista Querencia was just business. And don't blame me for saving my daughter, when you already have a child you will understand me too! And I didn't ask you to! I trusted you! Yes, you heard it right. I fvcking trusted you, Khrystal!"
I was the one who didn't answer immediately after that. I just stared at her and slowly shook my head with disbelief.
"I didn't lie when I said we needed him in the company. I sent you instead of Mary France because I was afraid for my daughter. I was afraid that the Revelars would think my daughter was their relative and take revenge. I put you there because I thought you can handle everything! I chose you because I knew you would focus on business just to get out of here!" she added.
I burst out laughing. "No, you sent me in the company because you are guilty. You don't want to see him because it reminds you of your betrayal of Dad!" I said because I couldn't accept her explanations.
A slap again landed to my cheek.
"Francheska!" Manang exclaimed and hugged me, then pulled me away from Mommy.
Her eyes almost sparkled with tears as she stared at me. "Do you know why I can't look at you for too long? Do you know why I can't be with you for so long?" she said. "Because your face reminds me of the betrayal you are talking about! I slept with another man because I am not mentally stable because of the affair between your mother and father!"
A lone tear fell on her cheek. "Every night I think about where I went wrong to be fooled like that. Why do I have to be fooled! Why do you have to be born! While I was hurting, while I was confused, that's when Revelar's father entered my life. He's an investor before. He was the one who comforted me, yes, it's not a valid reason. But I made a mistake because of my emotions. While your mother and father lied to me behind my back! They did it on purpose. They made me look like a fool!"
"Do you even know how hurt I am at that time? I tried hard to make our marriage work even if it was just an arrangement. I tried to be a good wife. But what? What did I gain? Your father cheated on me with his first love. I don't have a problem if they love each other, eh. It's just wrong, I hope he didn't marry me. I hope he wouldn't agree to marry me if he wasn't ready to let go of his girl!" Tears were streaming silently on my mother's cheek.
Suddenly, I felt guilty. There's a part of me that gradually understands everything but maybe because I'm looking for someone to blame for the pain I'm feeling, I can't accept it. Her situation is not far from the situation I entered.
"Until now, Khrystal. Until now I have endured the pain. You don't know how hard it is for me to see your mother every day!"
I felt like my heart stopped beating when I heard that. I slowly raised my eyes to her. She's just staring at me, coldly.
"Why don't you ask your mother everything? Why don't you talk to her about what happened? Why don't you ask her so you can understand all the decisions I made?" she spat.
I laughed sarcastically as pain crept inside my chest. "How? I don't even know her," I murmured.
"Francheska, calm down. We can discuss this properly," Manang interrupted from my side.
My mom's eyes darted at her. A smile flashed through her lips. I can also clearly see the pain in her eyes.
"Tell her. Tell your daughter everything, Luisa."
I felt like my hearing stopped at that moment. Mommy's words lingered in my ears repeatedly. I felt Manang's grip on me tighten. I turned to her weakly.
Her eyes were clouded with tears. Only then did I realize the truth. I burst out laughing and escaped from her grip. Instantly, her tears fell down.
I stared at her for a moment. Her face, eyes, nose, everything. I laughed again on the other side as my voice rasped and I shook my head gently.
That explained why all our maids are always given a day off by Mommy whenever Daddy comes home.
"I accepted you in our house, even your mother. Tell me, Khrystal. Isn't that enough that I accepted you despite everything?"
