Chapter 16: Chapter 16
"Jazzie," our supervisor called.
I quickly put down the towel I was holding and approached her.
"Yes, ma'am?" I spoke politely while bowing a little.
"The guest has already checked out at suite six. Go there and clean the room for the coming guest," she commanded calmly and handed me the keycard for the room she was referring to.
"Alright," I replied sparingly and hurried away with the tools I would need for cleaning.
"Jazzie, let me help you," Ken offered as he greeted me in the hallway.
Ken is one of my co-workers, I am currently a housekeeper at a five star hotel. This has been my job for almost five years.
I smiled sparingly and let him support me with the cleaning tools. "Thank you," I said.
"No, it’s fine! It's just a simple thing," he said.
I just smiled and walked along with him. A few minutes later, we finally reached the front door of the suite.
"Thank you again, Ken," I sincerely whispered.
He hesitated to hold her nape and smiled. “Maybe...I can invite you to eat with me later," he uttered.
I chuckled and tapped his shoulder. "Stacey will get mad at me again because of that," I replied.
His face turned sour automatically.
"Don’t mind her. She neglected me before and now she's acting like as if it was my mistake," he complained.
I just shook my head and then tapped him on the shoulder again. "I know you still like her. So go ahead, date her. So she won’t bother me at work anymore." I winced when I remembered her steady command to me earlier.
Yes, Stacey was our supervisor. Ken used to court her but she rejected him. Whatever the reason might be, I do not know and I also have no intention of finding out more.
"I'm sorry about her," Ken said.
"It's okay. I'm used to these kinds of hardship." I laughed softly and shook my head as I remembered my past.
"Alright, I'm going in. If the next guest caught me here later, Ma'am Stacey will go crazy," I said and then used the key card on the door.
"Okay. I’ll go back to the staff's room and maybe, I have something to do later.”
We nodded at each other and then walked in our own directions, he left as I was entering the suite.
My lips twisted when I saw the living room. From its look, I already knew that a family was occupying this room. The toys were scattered as well as the leftover junk foods. I heaved a deep sighed and decided to start cleaning.
Sweep here, vacuum there, disinfect here, wipe there. I did every cleaning method all over again in every corner of the suite all the way inside the bedroom. I also replaced the bed cover, towels and other stocks. As well as the bathroom and windows, I assured they are really clean then I rechecked around the entire area to make sure I didn’t miss anything.
When I already made everything surely clean, I went out with the garbage and the bedsheets I just removed in the suite. I was pushing the housekeeping trolley cart when I heard my phone rang. I stopped for a moment and took my phone out of my pocket.
I let out a small smile when I saw Azy's name on the screen.
"Hello," I said as I answered that and continued walking while pushing the cart I was carrying.
"Girl! I miss you!" he greeted dramatically.
I rolled my eyes and shook my head. "What now, Azy? I'm busy. I'm still at work," I said.
"Why don't you just come back as my model? Then, maybe you can manage your own time now," he pointed out.
"Azy, I'm done with that. I want a quiet life."
Azy scoffed on the line. "Not to me, Jazzie. You can’t fool me. I knew how much you love modelling," he mumbled.
I was speechless and just let him speak.
"It's been six years, Jazzie. I let you leave the first year because your reason is valid but now, what's up, girl? Is there really no hope?"
I sighed and stopped walking. I propped my elbow on the cart and played with my fingers.
"I am sorry, Azy. It's just...I decided to live a simple life. You do know that if I return back to the world of modelling, everyone will question my life," I explained calmly.
He remained quiet for a second then sighed afterwards. "Is it because of Val—"
"Like I said, I just really want a quiet and simple life. Sorry, Azy. I knew, you really want me back. But there are still many ladies out there who are more beautiful and sexier than me. Maybe you can ask or take them, "I interjected as he spoke.
"Okay, okay. If I can't really force you, fine. But girl, just call me if you’re changing your mind, your fairy godmanager will accept you wholeheartedly," he said.
I could not help but grin. "That is final. So start training your little fairies. My return to modelling is just an illuminati fiction."
"You are not still good at bonding, Jazzie."
I chuckled and stood up straight when I saw my supervisor walking towards my way. "All right, it looks like a dragon is going to spew out this little moth," I said then dropped the call, not waiting for Azy's answer.
"Who told you that you can use the phone during work hours?" Ma'am Stacey's eyebrows rose as she stopped in front of me.
I bent down slightly and bit my lower lip.
No one told me it was forbidden.
"I am sorry, Ma'am. I just got a call from home," I lied.
"Stop with your excuses and clean suites 66 and 69 next!” She placed two keycards on the top of the cart and then walked away.
I breathed deeply and took it. I just shrove when I looked at the time on my wristwatch.
Looks like I will be going home late again.
IT was past 7 p.m. when I reached my condo unit. Instead of going inside, I went to the third unit next to mine and buzzed.
A few seconds later, a man appeared in front of me.
"Chaos," I uttered and gave a small smile.
His forehead furrowed and he looked at his wristwatch. "You are late again," he stated.
"Yeah, obviously." I rolled my eyes at him and then passed him by
"He is in the kitchen," he said as he followed my walk.
I did not answered him and just went towards the kitchen.
"Erom," I called when I saw him eating in the kitchen.
Slowly, he glanced at me. Just like his normal reaction when I came home from work, his eyes widened slightly and he quickly descended from his seat.
"MOMMY!"
