Chapter 108: Chapter 108

My body seemed to be moving on its own. I don't know how to think properly. Even though my knees were shaking, I still managed to run.

Lord, please, not my son.

"M-Miss, Giovani Dagsinal, please," I asked at the nurse assigned in the emergency ward.

"H-He was taken to the operating room," a familiar voice interrupted.

I unconsciously made a turn in her direction. Her eyes swelled up. Her daughter was seated at her side, sobbing quietly while her elbow was bandaged. Both of them were seated on a hospital bed.

"Lhea, why are you here? And what happened to Dianne?" Agustine was curious.

Her throat was hardly moving. She gave me a sympathetic glance. She started to say something, but then she quickly stopped.

Ultimately, I decided to disregard her. I don't give a damn about her. My son is who I need to see. Agustine was following me, but I did not pay attention to him as I swiftly ran away.

"K-Khrystal," Mom said when she saw me.

I ignored her. I immediately went to Gia who was sitting in the waiting chair outside the OR. She was sobbing silently.

"G-Gia," I stuttered and examined her all over. "W-where's your twin brother?" I added.

There she started sobbing loudly, she buried his head in my chest and hugged me tightly. "K-Kuya was hit by a car, Mommy," she uttered. (big brother)

My body trembled more and more with nervousness. What kind of scene came to my mind. I felt Mom approached me while holding my shoulder. I slowly raised my clouded eyes to her.

"W-What happened, Mom?" I am confused.

A lone tear fell on her cheek. "I am sorry, Khrystal. I didn't watch them properly. They were playing in the park earlier and then . . ." She swallowed hard, not knowing how to continue explaining.

"H-He saved my daughter," someone continued.

I tilted my head to look at her. She was standing behind Agustine. Like me, he also looked at Lhea.

"H-He pushed my daughter. My daughter should have been the one who got hurt b-but . . . your son saved her," she explained.

"Oh my God," I just blurted out and silently cried.

"K-Kuya saved Daddy's baby, Mommy," Gia mumbled lowly between her hugs. "He saw the car coming . . . h-he ran towards her." (big brother)

I closed my eyes tightly. I hugged my daughter even more for her to get strength. I don't know how to feel at this moment. Will I be angry, sorry, I don't know.

We were in that situation when a doctor came out of the OR. I immediately separated from Gia and faced it. At least Agustine also came a little closer to the doctor.

"How is he, Doc? W-what is his situation now?" I have a series of questions.

"As of now, he is under observation. We have stitched up his head wound. Although his vital signs are steady, we cannot relax because the patient is still unconscious. His x-ray results were also being processed at the time. Right now , the problem is we need a blood donor."

I was immediately consumed by intense nervousness. "I-I can donate."

"We need to test you first, Ma'am. Unfortunately, the patient has a rare blood type which is AB negative. It will be a bit difficult for us to find compatible blood for him."

I felt like I was going to fall off my feet when I heard that. Fortunately, Mom helped me quickly.

"I am AB negative, I'll take the test," Agustine uttered.

I turned to him. His eyes were unreadable the moment they met mine. I knew he had an idea of what was going on, but I could not confirm everything.

I feel my tears falling down my cheeks. Right now, I am thankful because I have him. Gio, our son, needs him.

"Thank you," was all I said.

He did not answer. I saw him peeking at Gia's place. My heart seemed to twist when I saw that my daughter was also looking at him.

"Please, save my twin," she begged. "Daddy," Gia whispered the last line along with her tears streaming down her cheeks.

Agustine took a breath and quickly approached my daughter. He wiped her tears gently. I could see his hands trembling as he did that.

"Everything will be okay," he assured our daughter.

Gia swallowed hard and nodded slowly. "I-I . . . trust you."

Agustine smiled sparingly. He raised his hands slightly and looked like he was going to hug Gia but didn't immediately continue. In the end, he built up the courage to hug her. He whispered something to Gia, our little girl just nodded her head as she hugged his father back.

Oh, Lord. Forgive me for everything.

They stayed like that for a while until Agustine slowly let go. He said goodbye to Gia and talked to the doctor about what to do. In the end we were left outside the OR waiting for the rest to happen.

I don't know how many minutes had passed. I did not even realize that Gio had been moved to the room that Agustine took. My son is still unconscious. There are serums attached to him as well as oxygen. His head has a thick bandage. There is also a machine by his side that checks his heartbeat. I just stood there dumbfounded, afraid that the lines would stop flowing.

"Khrystal, drink first," Mom got my attention.

I just shook my head and did not accept the water she offered. I feel that at these times I have no right to be complacent or at least rest.

I heard the door open. I turned around and saw Agustine enter. His jaw immediately tightened when our eyes met. For a moment, his eyes shifted to Gio who was still lying unconscious on the bed. Next, he looked at our daughter, Gia, who had fallen asleep on the sofa from crying.

His hand immediately moved to fold the sleeves of his polo shirt and then approached our daughter's seat. He eyed the girl carefully and wrapped a blanket around her before turning his attention to me.

"Drink it," he commanded.

I was like a robot who followed his orders. Shaking, I took the glass that Mama offered me. I even heard him sigh deeply. The next thing happened, he was now right in front of me. He grabs the glass from me and helps me drink properly.

"Drink more," he ordered again in a cold tone when I gave up after one sip.

Without talking, I did what he wanted. I had three more drinks before giving up completely.

Silence enveloped the entire room after that. We feel the same way. I could feel Agustine staring at me but I could not lift my eyes from him.

I know, he needs an explanation. But I don't know where to start the story.

"You robbed me, Khrystal. Five fucking years," he stated in a low pitch voice after a long silence.
