Chapter 92: Chapter 92
I choke with my own food and I quickly drink a glass of water. “That’s a good idea, what do you think?” Ben asks me. “That’s unnecessary mom, we have so much time” I respond. “You’re in your first thirties! There’s no more time” She says. “Oh, Gosh” I groan. “I’m gonna make a phone call” My mom leaves. “Fiuhh…” My grandma sighs “She’s so fussy!” She says. “Well, you didn’t see more grandma, I live with her for over 30 years” I laugh softly.
“Rosa called me last night, she really worried about you” Grandma says. “Well, I’m sorry if I made everyone worried last night, I didn’t expect it will end like this” I respond as I chew my food. “Mmm… My mind says you planned this” My grandma whispering to my ear and give me a smirk with a raised brow. My grandma and I close to each other since I was a kid, she knows me better than my mom.
“You know what kid… you may fool everyone but you can’t fool me” She winks at me and gives me a look. I sigh and tell nothing, she knows me better than myself. “Our client reaches here next evening, I expect you to come tomorrow for a meeting” My dad says. “For sure, dad” I respond. My mom suddenly comes and she slides to the dining seat next to my dad “All done, the event organizer says they will settle everything” She states.
“Sounds good” My dad responds. I tell nothing but keeps eating my food, I don’t know what to do anymore. Ben looks thrilled, either my parents. “Rosa told me that she will back to New York next month after she has done her job in Ohio, she takes Alison with her too” My mom states. “Wow that’s good, I miss that little devil” I chuckle. My parents stared at me with a slight of uncomfortable within their faces.
“What?” I ask with a raised eyebrow. “Oh, I forgot that I live with a family who doesn’t have a sense of humor” I mumble. “Oh, Jesus!” My mom sighs. “You have to watch your language, Maia. We’re in the middle of a family diner” My mom shook her head. I heavily sigh and chew my last plate. We finish the diner in 20 minutes, and my family leaves my house 10 minutes after the diner is over.
“Bye grandma… bye mom, dad” I say in a high voice, waving my hand to them in the driveway before they pull away. “Bye!” My mom responds, they pull away and leave my house after. “Well, now just two of us here” Ben says, he’s pulling me closer to him and grabs my arms. “I know right” I respond. “So, what should we do now?” He asks. “Mmm, drunk?” I state with a slight of annoyance in my voice. “But I’m too tired for that, I need rest” I groan.
“Okay, babe… as you wish” Ben sighs. “I’ll call you tomorrow, okay?” He coaxes. “Okay” I respond. “Right, I gotta go” He kisses my forehead. “Take care, Ben” I say, cupping his cheek. “I will, I love you…” He replies, and he kisses my lips after. “I love you too” I respond in whispers and smile. Ben leaves and walks towards the driveway, he waves his hand before he gets into the car. “Take care!” I yell from my house. “I will!” He mounts and chuckles.
He leaves my house and I finally alone, I shut the door and walk towards the kitchen. If I want to, I can ask Ben to stay with me and accompanying me tonight, but I didn’t. I love being alone and clear my mind after a long day I’ve been through. I love Ben, I do. But my love for him is not as much as I love Lena. She may be not my first love, but I still love her. “Ugh” I groan, grabbing a bottle of champagne on the dining table.
I make my way to the living room and reach over my bag, scanning my phone inside the bag, my other hand is holding the champagne. “Ugh, shit” I mumble, I cannot find my phone. I put the champagne on the table and I took out everything in my bag after. “Ah, here you are!” I sigh when I see my phone is just fall out of the bag. I heavily sigh and lean my back on the couch, drinking the champagne little by little as my mind keeps thinking of Lena.
I felt bored and it’s almost 12 AM. I grab my phone and a bottle of champagne with me, I off my ass from the couch after and I make my way upstairs. I’m so tired and bored, but I’m not drunk. “Ugh…” I groan as I sit on my bedroom floor and lean my back on the bedside. I unlock my phone and stare at the phone screen for minutes before I decide to call Lena. I’m not here to say sorry or get back to her, I just want to know how she’s doing.
“Oh, God! Should I call her?” I groan and I began to doubt. “Fuck it!” I mumble. I type her name on my phone and about to call her. I exhale heavily as I get up from the floor, making my way to my bedroom balcony. There’s not a single person passing by, or a car going past my house remembering it was the middle of the night. I sit on the balcony’s floor and placing the champagne next to me.
The starlight shining, they were so bright and fill the empty sky. Dwell on the beauty of life, watch the stars and see yourself running with them, my grandma always says those words every time I’m having a bad day. I think that we are like stars. Something happens to our life and we think we are dying and about to explode, but we’re actually turning into a supernova. And then when we look at ourselves again, we see that we’re suddenly brighter than we ever were before.
I drink the champagne before I call Lena, making myself a little bit drunk, but I still can control myself. I sigh and find a good position for me to lean, I lean on the balcony's handle as I keep sitting on the balcony’s floor. I type Lena’s name on my phone and whooshing my breath softly, I click her name on my contacts and I call her. The line is ringing and it’s connecting. I drink the champagne fresh from the bottle as I’m waiting for her to pick up the phone.
“Hey, it’s Lena. Leave a message” Line beeps.
My call is redirected to voicemail, I bet she didn’t want to talk to me, or she may be busy with her job or maybe her new girlfriend, who knows. I leave her a voicemail, and I get back to my room, throwing myself on my cozy bed. I have not slept well in these past two days because I was kidnapped. I’m about to fall asleep but I got disturbed by someone who rings my house bell. “Ugh, Jesus, Fuck!” I groan and I off myself from the bed, making my way downstairs.
“Miss LaLuna?”
I’m drunk and half asleep. I thought I was dreaming or something. There are two cops in my house in the middle of the night, that's impossible if I’m not dreaming right now.
“Yeah?” I respond with a raised brow.
“We’re here to give you an arrest warrant” The officer explains.
“W-what? There must be some mistakes” I respond in dismay.
“You have to surrender in less than five months” The officer says.
“You can read the paper when you’re fully aware tomorrow” The officer ends.
“Do I seem unconscious?” I scoff with a raised brow.
“Good night Miss LaLuna” The officer states, they leave my house after.
“Oh, fuck it. This is a joke!” I scoff and I shut the door.
I make my way to the living room and I place the paper on the table. I’m staring at the phone screen and it’s already 1 AM. “Ughh” I groan, and I’m throwing myself to the couch, scanning a good position for me to sleep. I start to feel dizzy, the champagne beats me up. I place my phone on the table next to me and grab the champagne to get more drinks. I drink the champagne in my lay position, making the water dripping down to my chin and neck before I fall asleep.
