Chapter 64: Chapter 64

Dmitri’s picking us up from the hospital since Lena’s motorcycle is still at the restaurant and my car is at home. One of Lena’s guys picks up the motorcycle so it doesn’t get stolen and I didn’t want to go back home and grab my car because I didn’t want to leave Lena alone in the hospital. Before I wheel Lena out from the hospital, the doctor walks up to me and explains all of the painkillers and meds she needs to take during the recovery process.

We went to the pharmacy inside the hospital and grab Lena’s medications, stuffing them in a bag that the hospital gave us. I thank the doctors for saving my Lena’s life as I get a call from Dmitri. “Hey, I’m in the car outside waiting for both of you” He says through the phone. I tell him that we’re coming and hang up the phone, kissing Lena’s forehead and wheel her out the doors. It’s been 3 weeks since the incident.

She could have gone home 3 days after she had her surgery but the doctors wanted to monitor her just in case she had any head damage or other complications. Lena’s stitches are healing up well and she has a concussion but other than that, the broken ribs and the healing surgery scars are getting better, she’s so excited to go back to work. “Thanks, babe…” Lena says, looking up at me. “Thanks for what?” I ask.

Lena reaches and grabs my hand which on the back of her wheelchair “Thanks for staying with me in these whole damn weeks” She says. I squeeze Lena’s hand lightly as we make our way to the car “You’re my girlfriend, My Lena… I would never leave your side” I say before knocking on Dmitri’s car windshield. “Lena, Maia! You guys are okay?” Dmitri says inside the car before he gets out of the car.

He out from the car and help Lena in “Alright, all done!” Dmitri says. I pull Dmitri and drag him gently to the back of the car side “Do you catch her? Sasha?” I say in a low voice. Dmitri heavily sighs as he points his gaze at me “Nope… it’s pretty hard to beat her up” He says. I put my hand on my head and sigh “How if she’s back and hurt Lena or me” I say worriedly. Dmitri gets closer to me and whispers “No, she can’t… hopefully” He says.

“My guys will stand guard around the house, don’t worry!” Dmitri says. “Are you sure we’re gonna be okay?” I say. “Yes, fucking sure!” He says. I inhale deeply and get into the car, sliding into the seat next to Lena. “Is everything alright?” Lena says. “Yes baby, all good. Don’t worry” I say as I close the car’s door. Dmitri gets into the driver's seat and starts the car “Alright let’s go home” He says as we pull out of the hospital curb.

We on our way home, Lena’s head lightly rested on my shoulder as she sleeps peacefully, my arm around her. “Wow… she sleeps fast” Dmitri says in a low voice not to wake her up, looking at us from the mirror. I nod my head and run my fingers through Lena’s hair gently “Yeah, the painkillers and meds knocked her out” I whisper, kisses Lena’s forehead before looking at Dmitri. “I feel so bad you know…” I say.

“She doesn’t deserve all the pain that she’s going through” I sigh. “She’s the nicest one here, no one deserves any of this Maia, but you know… this is our world, we’ve been like this for a long time ago” Dmitri says. “Mmm… I didn’t know you as Lena know you, but why don’t you guys find another thing to do, like a normal job. I’m not judging… but this job is so fucking dangerous, for both of you or people around you” I say.

Dmitri laughs softly “Haha… I’ve been like this since I was 19, and that’s a good opportunity for me. I made easy money and help my family with that” He says. “How about Lena, how long she’s been in this damn shit?” I say. “That’s been 5 years ago, I guess when she was 23” Dmitri says. “I’m not blaming her to be like this, but man… her life was fucked up and I’m so glad that I met her. We’re old good friend…” Dmitri says.

I smile as I caressing Lena’s hair, I didn’t know that Dmitri and Lena were a good friend for a long time ago. “She’s a good person… you’re lucky to have her in your life” Dmitri says. I smile “Yeah, I’m so glad that I have her in my life… I couldn’t ask more” I say in a low voice, caressing her hair gently. “How about you? It's your first time here?” Dmitri says. “Yeah, I never date a woman before or a drug importer, dealer, or something like that…” I chuckle.

“Lena is my first… and I didn’t want to leave her on her own. It’s not like I don’t trust her with you but still… I like being there for her” I say, caressing Lena’s cheek gently “And I’m scared… for everything… or maybe shit happen to us oneday… who knows” I say. Dmitri keeps listening as he smoking a cigarette. “But the scariest part is… not able to see her wake up in the morning, not able to see the smile she had for me” I say, held my tears.

“Or we’re probably having our own way oneday… and we’re not able to be together anymore...” I say, weld up “I can’t imagine that day…” I laugh softly, rubbing my knuckles over Lena’s thumbs softly. Dmitri shook his head as he exhales the cigarette's smoke “No one knows the future… but I hope we’ll find our last happiness oneday and I hope Lena is yours…” Dmitri says. I smile and point my gaze to Dmitri “Thanks… I hope so” I say.

“If I were a tree, I would have no reason to love a human. But shit I’m a human…” I chuckle. Dmitri laughs softly “Haha… you’re right! We're humans” He says as he pulls into our house driveway. I slowly wake Lena up, her head lifting off my shoulder as she sits up a bit. There’s a few seconds of silence before Lena groans softly and stares at me “Babe, when is my next round of painkillers?” She asks weakly, holding her side.

“You’re not due until another hour babe...” I say, sighing as I see Lena in so much pain. “Ugh… I just wanna snuggle with you in our bed” Lena whimpers, curling up a bit. “Jeez Lena, be careful… I don’t want you to rip a stitch” I say, helping her out of the car and rest her into the wheelchair. Grabbing my bag, I swing it over my shoulder and thank Dmitri for driving us home. “My guys are here, call me if you need anything” Dmitri says, before driving off.

“Alright, I will…” I say. I wheel Lena to the front door and unlock the door, pushing it open with my foot. As we walk or more like I walk Lena gets wheeled in, we see our dining room table is full of flowers, chocolates, and gifts. “What’s that?” I say, make our way close to it. I reach over the flowers and looking for the note “Who’s send this?” I say. Lena grabs the other flowers and scanning for the sender’s note.

“Fuck…” She mumbles as she sees the sender’s note. “It’s Sasha!” Lena says. “What?” I quickly take the flower from Lena “Sorry babe… that was an accident” I read the note. “Jeez fucking psycho motherfucker” I laugh triggered as I tore the note. “How could she do this? She almost killed you!” I say, my blood boiled. “Baby… Relax!” Lena says, stroking my shoulder. I inhale deeply and call the guy guard to throw the flowers, the gifts and take the chocolates with them.

“We can deal with her later, right now you need to get me changed into some loose clothing and get us to bed” Lena says. I call the guy guard once again and ask them to help me with Lena and wheel her upstairs, we get into our room and I’m putting her wheelchair next to our bed as I pick out a big comfy sweater and sweatpants. I walk over to Lena and stand in front of her “Arms up baby” I say and she frowns, wincing as she tries to undo her shirt.

“Let me help you” I say, pulling off her shirt slowly. “Here we go…” I take her sweater on. I help Lena get changed into the sweater and sweatpants before helping her get onto the bed, tucking her under to covers. “Do you wanna be left alone babe or do you want me to stay?” I ask, she looks at me weakly. “Stay please…” Lena whispers. I nod my head and smile, sliding into the covers next to her. Gently pulling her into my chest as the comfort of the bed surrounds us.

We’ve been in the hospital for over 3 weeks and I haven’t slept in a proper bed for weeks. “I miss our bed…” I say, caressing Lena’s hair. She chuckles “Me too babe…” Lena whispers softly. I kiss the palm of her hand and comfort her, stroking her back gently. “It’s been 3 weeks since I didn’t work…” Lena says. I point my gaze to her “Are you fucking kidding me” I raise an eyebrow. “You’ve almost died and now you still thinking about your fucking job… jeez Lena” I scoff.

Lena heavily sighs as she snuggles into my chest “I’ll back to work as soon as possible” She says. “No! Lena… Jeez, No! You’re still sick” I raise my voice. “Ugh… fine! Relax princess” She groans. I heavily sigh as I’m stroking Lena’s back gently, we both let out a soft groan as Lena closes her eyes, nuzzling into my chest. I close my eyes and kiss Lena’s forehead, feeling happy that my Lena is safe in my arms before sleep overcomes my body.
