Chapter 43: Chapter 43
Chapter 43 Grandma’s welcome back party
Brian got a call from his parents about the conviction of Mr. Fanny over drugs peddling, and his being sentenced to twenty years imprisonment and Brian was much bitter ; he was inflamed because the person involved was Kate’s father, a man he had come to respect and love so much. He, Brain still felt something for Kate- for he had asked his father with eyes full of anguish if Kate was sent to jail when his father briefed him about Kate’s trial too. Although his heart still paused for Kate he would not be returning to California soon; he wished he could return and rewrite the love he had for Kate, but he was out-and-out to create the vacuum of absence to checkmate if what they had was true love or fantasy.
Grandma was discharged from the hospital and a welcome party was organized for her by Brian and Ella. With atmosphere heated with happy guests who came to pay grandma the honor of keeping strong, she had least expected the turn-up- ranging from like billionaires, to artisans on the street, from media personality to up-and-coming contemporary artists and celebrity from all walks of life. It was a boom party with red carpet display of the fashion trend amongst celebrities. Grandma was happy Brian could pull up such tactical well organized party of such standard- what thrilled her most was the ground-breaking performance of Miami’s best musicians.
In grandma’s speech to the guest she had said, “This oxygen we breathe is underrated. It is worth more than life itself. Some hours ago I had no knowledge of my net worth, my essence, my expensive fast cars, my local and international investments. I lay in the hospital bed as a ply wood waiting for the use of the furniture maker, being forsaken by nature and embraced by artificial. I stand today breathing because I have been taught to appreciate breath but much more God. If we all will be allowed to be taught in like manner we will realize that there is nothing in this life as the breath we use each seconds and if we were to purchase it, even the richest of us may not afford it because of its scarcity. Today I appreciate everyone here breathing to life and from life. I love you all,” she had concluded and left the stage.
“Nice speech,” said Brian to Ella, who was nursing her baby.
“She is such a good orator,” replied Ella, picking up her phone as it buzzed. She read the message and stared around, “Yes grandma is not just as old as a hill but she is as good as a talented speaker,“ Brian remarked , looking at Ella and noticing she was restless.
“I need your favor,” Ella demanded, shooting her watery pitiful eyes at Brian.
“What could that be, if it is kissing your ass I am sorry to disappoint you I don’t kiss ass,” he said.
And they burst into a heavy laughter.
“I know you don’t kiss ass but some day you are going to kiss my ass,” she replied. “I just need you to help me with baby Khally. I need to go check up something, I will be back soon.”
Brian stared closely at her and struggled to understand the looks on her face – it was a sweet-bitter kind of looks, “I hope you are safe,” he said still staring into her eyes and sensing this burning desire in her.
“I am very much safe, Brian. I just need to check up something. I will be right back.”
Without much distrust Brian took the baby from her and watched her jostle through the crowd of dancers and cheerful guests.
“Hello baby papa,” that was grandma, holding a flute of Spanish cocktail and looking dazzling in her party gown.
“Oh grandma,” said Brian, patting the baby on the back as he seemed to start a sob. “Shih, don’t cry, daddy is here,” he looked at grandma, “You made a nice speech,” he commended.
“Thank you son, but I want to understand what you really are now. Are you still my baby-boo or you are some adopted father to a hot pant Ella ,” she said, her face holding fire and brimstone, “I don’t understand why you should be looking after a baby even in a party while the mother goes about as free living. Where is the mother?” she asked.
“Come on granny, there is a no big deal if I help look after the baby. I delivered this baby so I should be proud to look after a baby that experienced my gifted hand.”
“You have told me that a million times, small boy gynecologist and I have come to realize how much you value yourself. You want to spend your youthful life catering for another man’s baby as though you killed the man to take his place.”
“What the hell!” Brian exclaimed and fought her with eyes full of rage.
“Oh yes whipping boy, listen to the gospel of grandma according to truth. Ella is a user. You are going to spend your entire life around her only to realize you have achieved one great thing; and that is babysitting. Think about your life son, and stop looking down on yourself. You are granny’s boy not nanny’s boy.”
Brian ignored her not wanting to go blue because of onlookers and that she just survived death.
A lavishly dressed aged woman who happened to be granny’s associate breezed in and said, “oh such a lovely baby.” She poked the baby in the cheek. ”You never told me you had a great grandchild,” the woman said beaming a smile at grandma.
“Or I should have told you my grandson is gifted in looking after another man’s child.”
“Really,” the woman said, wanting to poke the baby for the second time and Brian walked away looking all sad.
The party was winding up and Ella was yet to return for her baby, worst still Brain was disturbed that she was in trouble and trapped in danger somewhere. Without much hesitation, he started scouting for her from closets to closets, lobby to lobby and finally to her flat but she was nowhere to be found. About making out of her flat, he overheard a short ear-splitting moan, and he traced it to the horse pen; Ella and the muscular tattooed man were stark naked , as the man gripped her big breasts, bent her over and pounded into her vagina from behind, his groin slapping her bigger buttocks furiously and with a steady speed that vibrated and rocked Ella back and forth with their bodies sweating profusely. Brian fed his eyes and walked away in inflamed.
Trouble ahead…
