Chapter 42: Chapter 42

Chapter 42 Mr. Fanny goes to jail

In few minutes they were back from recess as everyone converged for the judgment. Kate stared around and noticed Tony was nowhere around. She combed around the court but to no avail. She wondered what could have made him to disappear so soon.

Everyone stood as the judge walked and had his seat. He peered at the audience through his glasses and before casting a stern look at Mr. Fanny who was restless and sweating profusely on his face an d glaring at his family. The whole place suddenly became quiet as the judge set to declare the judgment

“The suite number 203 which has the plaintiff in possession of 56 kg of cocaine is one that should sound as an eye-opener first to the plaintiff and second to everyone under the sound of my voice. Having listened to his plea of not being guilty despite his history of drugs peddling which could be cited in suite 876 of the New York criminal court where the plaintiff pled not guilty and freed on the basis of his ill health, I hereby give my verdict

At that time Mrs. Fanny held her face and shivered greatly. Mrs. Coleman held her closely and whispered into her ears, “We will win; there is no cause for alarm. Whatever happens tonight just know that it will be in our favor.”

Kate bowed her head and wept bitterly. She couldn’t fathom why the tears but she felt something was going to go wrong. Mr. Coleman stared at the judge and ken was busy stroking his hair and looking at Mr. fanny as though it was going to be for the last time. Suddenly he felt the tears building in his eyes.. and he wondered if he had ever cried in court before.

“This is my verdict,” the judge said and peered at the audience before he continued. “With a record of drug peddling and not providing enough evidence to back up his plea, he is herby sentenced to twenty years imprisonment. The court may arise,” he said and stood up to leave

Ken stood up immediately and covered his mouth with his hands. Mrs. Fanny stood and made for her husband but she was held back by Mrs. Coleman and Kate was being sympathized by Mr. Coleman. Kate squatted to the ground, and wept like a baby.

At once Mr. Fanny was led away by the jailer, as onlookers murmured and watched the Fannys weep and being consoled by the Coleman.

The four hoodlums made it to grandma’s hospital to take her life . Upon entering the hospital, police siren blared outside the premises and a party of police officers alighted and went into the hospital. In a matter of time the four hoodlums were rounded up they were surprised how their mission got leaked ;all this while Meyer had been in the car; she was the one that invited the police. When the hoodlums were at the tunnel planning on their mission to murder grandma, she lurked around that corner and overheard them, and agreed within herself to invite the police. She needed to prove a point to Brian that she was really sorry for what happened.

Brian was in the middle of helping Ella with the chores when his phone buzzed and it was a message from hospital which said that grandma had just gained consciousness. His joy knew no bounds as he didn’t know when he lifted Ella. Speedily Brian made to the hospital. Before he got to the hospital he branched to a grocery store and bought enough cards and flowers. He was happy to meet grandma beaming with smile and sitting up in the hospital bed.

“That is my baby boy,” grandma said upon seeing Brian.

At once they hugged and he kissed her on the forehead and held her face. “I am happy to see you alive grandma.” Brain said.

“I am very much happy and well pleased to breathe the fresh air that God made. It is an honor to sit here breathing fresh air and not artificial air. They really came for my life,” said grandma.

“Who could that be?” asked Brian anxiously.

“Some hoodlums came to the hospital to take away my life but I don’t know who invited the police and they were rounded up at once.”

Immediately Meyer entered the hospital, “I did,” she said, walking into the hospital.

“What are you doing here?” asked Brian, and pulling up a face at her.

“That is the humblest way i can apologize for the pain I caused grandma. I was fortunate to be around the corner when they planned to attack the hospital and murder you, so I invited the police ahead of time to arrest them.”

“Who are the four hoodlums and what do they want?” grandma asked.

Meyer smiled as Brian winked at her; she knew brain wouldn’t want her to let grandma know about the hoodlums. “Grandma you don’t need to bother. They are just haters that don’t like you. But i am happy you are much alive and hearty,”

“Come on girl you don’t get credit for putting off a fire you created. Don’t want to recall what you said to me,” said grandma, frowning her face.

“Heh you have to leave right away,” said Brian, “Your presence irritates her.

Meyer went on her knees, shedding tears, “I am sorry grandma. I never meant to hurt you. i was thrown off guard that very day that I didn’t know what to say at the time.”

Grandma had already started shedding tears and Brian was forced to dial 911. ”I am calling the cops to come over and bundle you away.”

In a matter of minutes there was a cry of police siren outside. Meyer didn’t make a move she kept pleading until the police entered.

“Yes a call came from this ward,” one of the police said.

“I did,” replied Brian, “She is a threat to my grandma, so I decided to invite you over. I want her out of this ward.”

At once police approached Meyer and pointed her to the door. Although she was eager to beg grandma the more yet she had to go because of the police.

Brian wondered about the four hoodlums and inwardly appreciated Meyer for what she did.

Evil days ahead…
