Chapter 308: Chapter 308
Chapter 308
~Murder on wedding day~
Kate was still having the A-38 pistol when the police car zoomed into the scene, and a party of hostile armed police men alighted hastily pointing their rifles at her and advanced to her with full force. A few of the police men hung at the cars and strategic points in anticipation of more attacks coming soon or Kate opening fire.
“Your hands on the head,” a resounding voice among the police men said to Kate
Kate’s face spelt danger. She knew she was in deep shit with the gun in her hands. She wondered what explanation she would give for having a gun and a bloodied corpse lying on the ground. She argued if they would believe it was a set up; that whosoever that did it was out to set her up and send her to jail “What the hell oh my God!” she exclaimed calmly and obeyed them quickly. “I am innocent. I didn’t do this. This must be a set up,” she said as the police man that came to her, surged closer with hand cuffs and a rifle pointing at her…
“You have the right to remain silent otherwise anything you say will be used against you in the court of law,” the police said as he grabbed her arms to the back and hand cuffed before another police whose hand was masked with gloves collected the A-38 pistol from her and made her to move to the car..
“Move it!” they commanded Kate who was fidgeted greatly that she felt shattered and dejected at once.
She was as dumbfounded as she was scared. Kate’s gaze was still outside when they started cruising out of the compound. She was yet to get off the shock of seeing Doctor Frank being pushed out of the car like a duck after two gunshots struck into his chest. Right now she wondered what would become of Mary, if she should get to know what befell her fiancée. Would she believe that she was responsible for the death of her fiancée if the police should tell her they found her armed with a gun at the scene of the crime. She could still recall the last moment of Doctor Frank and how he was about mention Mary when he breathed his last.
The police car zoomed into the horizon as the siren wailed on…

“Oh my goose!” Mary exclaimed paced up and down the room and dialed the number again, furiously she snapped and stamped her feet on the ground, “It is still not reachable,” she wailed, stroked her hair confusedly and took off the veil of her wedding gown , and then the moment she heard the puttering noise of a car outside she sprang to the window to check if it was Frank. She had done that for the hundredth time and she was exhausted to continue because her heartthrob Doctor Frank was nowhere to be found.
Doctor Frank ‘s mother who was almost all tears, intoned “But he was with us a few minutes ago. He only left to get a gift from a friend that called him on phone. Son wherever you are please come home,” she said and used her handkerchief to dab her eyes.
His father, who had been writhing in pain, couldn’t stop gnashing his teeth, each time he dialed Doctor Frank only to be disappointedly by his number which still remained unreachable.
He cast a haughty stare on the watch that wound round his wrist and saw that time was fast spent , “Oh my God! What has happened to my son? Very soon the priest would come on board and you two would be required to walk into the cathedral.”
“But he could be somewhere with his pals forgetting that today is his wedding,” a female voice, who was among the woman consoling Doctor Frank’s mother, said. And she was rebuked by Frank’s mother who told her she raised Frank to be a respectful and highly coordinated kid.
“You can’t speak that of my son,” she nagged, dabbing the tears that surged in her eyes, “Frank has always looked out for this day and would never do such to the woman he loves,” she said.
And Mary replied her in a wailing, sorrowful voice, “isn’t it obvious that he has disappeared into thin air without letting me know…”
She was yet to speak further when her phone was buzzed with a caller, a stranger number she barely could relate with. But a closer look at the number made her to flinch for one bit. The caller was Tony. He declined the call and he called yet again and she did same again.
Inwardly she was relating the call with the absence of Doctor Frank. Tony might have harmed him; wasn’t he the one that threatened that heads would roll…
While she was still lost in her thought another call came on her phone and this time it was:
911 calling…
Quickly she picked up , and fearfully brought the phone to her ears.
“Hello am I unto Mrs. Mary?” the detectives voice said from the other end…
“Yes, you are,” she replied nervously as she noticed everyone in the room had quietened and focused their gaze on her. ..
“It is sad to inform you that your fiancée Doctor Frank was shot dead some minutes ago…”
She couldn’t continue listening to the bad news as she fainted on the floor just then..
“Oh my goose!! What happened! Oh geese!” a maddening pandemonium ensued immediately as guest and onlookers ran helter-skelter in their bid to fetch water and pour on Mary.
Doctor Frank’s father quickly reached to her phone , scrolled to the received call and saw it was from the Department of Police. He dialed the number and no one answered after the second dial the detective picked up and related the same message to him and he hung up , stared in the space, gaping with his entire body, shaking.
The phone left his hand and dashed on the floor…
