Chapter 307

~Kate was in trouble~

Mary had passed the night at Frank’s house so she could prepare for the wedding the next day. At dawn she phoned Eva to check up on her and to know if Tony came over to harass her. Although Eva had answered in the negative , yet she told her to do anything possible to vacate that house.

“That house is no longer safe for either of us. I feel that Tony is coming to cause mayhem. Please you must vacate as soon as possible. I repeat vacate as soon as possible. If you can’t make it to the wedding ground, fine. But you must be out of eyes reach, at least where Tony can’t see you , Ok ,” she said over the phone.

In a shivering voice Eva said, “Oh, mom, you are scaring the living day light out of me now. What has Tony threatened to do this time around?” she asked, looking out and studying her environment.

Before the call came, she had hounded her window, and stared outside time on end only to be welcomed by the sudden calmness that hung around the neighborhood. She had never experienced such calmness on a Saturday. Ordinarily Saturday, kids disturbed the neighborhood with their skating boards, as they rode in their numbers and residents showed up at interval to have a work out on the pedestrian or on major narrow streets.

But today was a different cup of ice.

Eva snorted, pondered over her mother’s advice and started putting stuffs together to vacate their home. But she had warned not to visit the wedding arena if she wanted.

“What could be the reason? What has that mocker bad boy told my mom this time? Mom has never been a pessimist and for such to be coming from her at a time she is supposed to be happy means something evil is about to happen. I hope Doctor Frank is safe wherever he is. I wish I could kill that bad boy with my bare hands like a kitten.” Eva said within herself as she packed up few o her cloths into a sizeable bag.

“But why would my mom be marrying the man of her dream and I won’t honor it just because one godforsaken bad boy threatened to cause tension,” she said further within herself and had a fallen countenance, “I just hope mom has told Doctor Frank everything and not keep any secret from him.” She dragged out her bag, dug into the side pocket and pulled a wad of dollars, “This could foot the bill of a night in the hotel. Oh fuck!” she snapped, and shut her eyes exhaustibly, “What am I going to be doing in a hotel all alone,” she said and caught sight of the box of sex toys she bought a few days ago.

Thus far she had been surviving and thriving without Kate and she had never thought it wise to end the fight with her. She had said their differences would remain eternal and it was final. There was no compromise about it. Kate was a betrayal and no friend. Enough of her! To hell with her now! The sex toys would fix her!

With her box of sex toys handy and her sizeable bag dragging right behind her, she made outside , hopped into a taxi and drove away.

After Kate had glared at the photo of Eva on her phone, she was all tears after reminiscing on their past life and how they had got each other’s back, not forgetting the odd nights they had loved up and made maddening love. She had never believed it would ever work out for them and she never wanted to date same sex. But the presence of Eva in her life broke the odds and put her in a web of passion and sweetness. She kissed the photo of Eva , put it to her chest and sniffed gently.

“I am going to apologize one more time. I believe she still feels a thing for me as much as do. She will forgive me. I can’t love any other person right now. Brian is gone and gone forever. He could be married right now with children. Eva is the only heart throb I have…” she paused, sprang to her feet, had a light shower, squeezed into a leather and then with her face smiling into a mirror she wore a mild make-over, sprayed her heavy perfume; all was targeted at charming Eva back to her heart

As soon as she was done, she hopped into a taxi and headed to Eva’s house.

Upon her arrival, she was flashed with the tranquility of the entire streets, and regrettably there was no one at home. She only pressed the door bell when she realized the door was locked. She sighed and dropped to the ground in pan and penury. She shouldn’t have come after all. She knew it would amount to this, even all the forces on earth were against her union with Eva. There may never be another Eva-Kate again. Never!

While she was lost in the web of her thought a s strange arch back sports car screeched into the premises, opened the door, shot Doctor Frank twice in the chest, pushed him outside and tossed the A-38 pistol at Kate before the sports car screeched away, disturbing the peace of the neighborhood.

“Ah!” that was the only scream Doctor Frank could let as he writhed in pain, blood gushing through his heart and his hand holding out to Kate, “he …I “ he wanted to say help me but couldn’t.

Kate was lost and confused madly. She had flinched away but later got hold of the gun on the floor, lurked at the wall for safety as she watched for further attack from the murderers.

Doctor Frank couldn’t say his next word. But his lips were curved to pronounce MARY before he gave up and went cold on the ground.

Just then a loud siren could be heard at a distance; police were coming.
