Chapter 292

~A set of Twins for Teddy~

As they got downstairs Ken aided her into the back seat and hopped into the car like a mouse from a burning hole.

“You are going to be fine Ok. Our baby is on the way,” he said joyfully, turned on the engine and sped away, with tyres screeching through.

Teddy had been staring at them from his car all this while. He became all smiles, shook his head and clapped gently as he sensed his baby was on the way. He had never been so excited in his life than seeing a woman pregnant for him going thorough labor and about to put to bed of his child…

He twitched the ignition and the engine came on before he sped away, the tyres of his Lamborghini screeching through also. Gently he trailed them through the traffic, out of the traffic, through the corners and junction they took until they arrived at the hospital and he halted at a spot not too far but hidden from them to see him. He was churned with excitement once he beheld Ken rushing out to call on the nurses who later rushed out with a stretcher.

Gently they aided Mrs. Fanny out of the car and onto the stretcher before they rode her into the hospital hastily Ken couldn’t let go as he walked along with them , locking his hand to hers, staring into her drawn, pale face and encouraging her with words of strength and her pet names.

“Darling you are going to be fine Ok, I promise you as soon as you put to bed, I will give you the whole world and put it under your feet, this our breakthrough . Our first child is almost on the way and I can’t wait to welcome him. Oh my God I can’t believe this,” he said and when Mrs. Fanny forced a smile at him, he smiled back, peered at her , stamped a kiss on the back of her palms and forehead. They were at the door right now and the nurses waited for Ken to be through with his wife, before they would ride in finally.

“I wish you safe delivery baby,” I will be standing in the gap for you at the reception. Go in there and put to bed our gorgeous handsome baby boy,” he said, stamped another powerful kiss on her brow and thick lips. He didn’t want to let go. But he had to let go this time. Already the midwives were beaming with smile in the theatre waiting for Mrs. Fanny to get in.

Cold tears trickled down her eyes as he watched Mrs. Fanny being ridden by the party of nurses. The door to the theatre slammed and he shut his eyes and gradually paced up and down the corridor hastily expecting the low-pitched rhythmic repetitive cry of a baby sounding soon.

Teddy didn’t want to go into the hospital, he was managing to keep check of his emotion, about the arrival of his first child. This was a dream come true for him; he wished he could set his eyes on his ex wife and show her his child; a baby of his loins; just to make her understand he wasn’t infertile after all; he wished he could show his associates and friends that gossiped him and gave upon him just because he was declared infertile by some doctor who wasn’t God. Today a beautiful woman was in the labor room to put to birth of his child.

He raised a brow once he could catch sight of a cocktail restaurant a few poles from the hospital and a thought came in his mind to alight from the car and walk into it, but on a second thought he wouldn’t want to be seen by onlookers or Ken, who could possibly recall his looks after what he displayed on their wedding day at the cathedral; he decided to cruise down to the restaurant.

Once he got to the restaurant he alighted , walked into it and smiled hugely at the bar tender for the wine section. He would have to perch at the bar and drink while he waited for the arrival of his baby into this world. Nothing had felt better. This had never happened in his life before.

A flute of champagne please,” Teddy placed his orders as soon as he sat down pretty damn quick, his face still lit with happiness.

“Oh so sorry sir, we don’t give that in flutes but in bottles,” the bartender said with all courtesy.

Teddy was still at his smile, “As though I can’t afford it. You see,” he said, peered his face to the bartender, “Today is a special day in my life, so I can afford anything under the sun right now,” he groaned and pulled back his face from him.

“Oh I see, so what could that be ?” the bartender asked while he went about fetching his orders.

Teddy blushed to say it. After staring at the bartender thoughtfully, he said calmly and in the most modest manner, “My wife is in the labor room as we speak and guess what, it is in my first child after ten years of marriage…” he said, even when he knew Mrs. Fanny wasn’t his wife

He was yet speaking when the bartender interrupted him with his exclamation, “oh my oh my! This is more than good news!” the bartender said and placed the orders before him. “This calls for more than celebration,” he said.

Teddy burst into a noisy chuckle, “This is my reason for pulling down to this place. This I just the beginning of celebration . As soon as she put to bed, I am going to host a party that would even shake anybody that would hear of it.

Happily he placed his orders, shook and popped the champagne in excitement as they drank happily.

“You see my wife put to bed last month,” the bartender said, shooting a smiling face at Teddy. “I know how excited it is to have a child. I am happy for you…” the bartender was yet speaking and Teddy was about sipping at his champagne when a nurse hastily ran into the restaurant, ordering for a bottle of champagne too.

Teddy puzzled, stared at the nurse and wondered why she was so excited and bewildered and what could she be doing with such alcohol at duty time.

“Apologies sir,” the nurse said, “The woman that just got into the theatre has put to bed a set of beautiful twins and the husband demanded I help him buy a bottle of champagne for celebration.

Teddy sprang to his feet, “A woman?” he asked the nurse, staring agape almost screaming at the top of his voice in joy…..
