Chapter 196: Chapter 196

Chapter 196

~Brian regrets all~

Once Brian got into the toilet he went straight to the sink, stared in the mirror for a few seconds, dragged his face in sorrow and broke down in tears. For the second time in his life he was falling out of love. And when he thought he was done with Kate in California he never knew a more gruesome fate awaited him in Miami. What other fate could be more gruesome than murdering a blood line; a cousin just because of what he felt for Ella; he had never regretted an action in his life and with what Ella did the other day, he doubted if he would ever finish strong; he wondered what fate awaited him in the end, and no matter how he pretended someday his sin would catch up with him. Ella had shown him her real color and he regretted all he had been through just because of her. He never expected the tides to blow hot at him this time. Countless times he had had recurring picture of the sin in his mind; how he smashed the head of his cousin with a log, thinking he was fighting for love not knowing he was fooling himself and keeping it down for a girl who was self centered and greedy. Yes he had suddenly learnt that all Ella wanted was her sexual satisfaction and nothing else. She did not care whether the police were after them for the murder they committed neither did she bother about onlookers, grandma or his father seeing them together as love birds. He had come to realize Ella’s uncontrollable urge for sex which could be the reason her husband behaved the same way.

“I am so ashamed of myself now,” he said through sniffing as he turned on the tap to wash his dried face. But before he could do that his cheeks were already bathed with effortless tears that trickled down and dropped into the sink, “I am sorry, I am so…” he breathed uneasily, recalling and having flashes of his cousin being smashed by him at the time. “I never intended to kill you. Trust me,” he said, raised his gaze to the mirror and beheld his agonized face which seemed blown and tortured. “I only wanted to weaken you. Beside it was self defense. And I never knew you were my father’s cousin. Why would I kill a cousin? Why would I raise my hands to take the life of my cousin just because of a foolish bitch who doesn’t deserve anything good? I never intended to clubber your head to a mesh. Please forgive me wherever you are. I beg of you. The guilt is too much for me to bear. And with time if I can’t bear it any more I would have to report to the police, so that I and Ella can bear the consequences. I am tired of this life now. In my next world I would never fall in love neither would I kill a bloodline just because of love that doesn’t exist. Look at me now. The blood of a bloodline is hanging on my neck…” Brian paused once he overheard a shuffling walker, he sniffed deeply to dry his nostrils, wiped his tears before washing his face in the runny water. He found a towel on the hanger and dried it hastily.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door. “Brian! Brian! Are you there? That was his father’s voice. He came to check up on Brian since it was taking him all the whole day to pee.

The door opened and Brian’s brightened face popped out, “Oh dad. Is anything the matter?” he asked, staring and forcing up a false look that sent a message of happiness.

His father stared at him from head to toes and noticed he was naked from his waist downwards, and so he believed he wasn’t done using the toilet. Before Brian made to the door, he unbuckled his belt and removed his trousers and panty so that his father would believe he had switched from peeing to stooling.

“Sorry dad, I have a runny stomach,” said Brian, dragging up a frown across his face to let his father believe he was passing through pains and he wasn’t bluffing either.

“Oh, oh, so sorry my son. Why don’t I get you some pills to quell it?” Mr. Coleman suggested and about to make a move when Brian interrupted.

“Hell no dad, you don’t have to worry,” he said and Mr. Coleman paused and turned back to him. “I will be fine perhaps the milkshake is not nice to my stomach this time,” he said, and snorted, “Is anything the problem? I can see you are looking all dashing and dressed up. What are you up to?” he asked.

“Well,” he shrugged, stretching the hem of his sleeves, “I thought you could accompany me to meet with Ella, my cousin’s wife,” he intoned.

“Ella!” Brian snapped, dragged a furrowed brow and clenched his jaw in hatred, “What do you want to visit her for?” he asked hastily, shooting his frown at him, and impatiently waiting for his reply.

“Do I still need to tell you my reason for wanting to visit?”

Brian cut in, “I know dad, because of the death of her husband,” Brian said.

And Mr. Coleman rebuked him, “God forbid!” he frowned and said yet further, “My cousin is not dead…”

Brian interrupted to correct himself and vowed within himself to be careful with his words onwards, so as not to reveal his sin, “Oh please pardon me, dad. I wanted to say, missing.” he shut his eyes briefly as itches of guilt possessed his entire body. He saw the anger that crossed the face of his father, “Apologies, dad.”

“It is OK, son, I understand. Beside paying her a condolence visit for the disappearance of her husband I need to meet her in person because I wasn’t at their wedding and I really need to know her since I will be working with her during the course of investigation with the police,” he said at a breath, brightened up, and said, “But since you are having a runny stomach, I can go alone now and allow you to fix yourself.”

Brian let a breath of relief. Finally, he wouldn’t be joining him to visit his enemy. “Thank you so much dad,” he said and recalled, “Do you have the address?”

“Why not,” he said, “I accompanied my cousin the day he paid for that mansion four years ago. That is like my second home now,” he said, looked at the ceiling and said yet further, “Oh Fred, wherever you are, you need to return home. I just pray you are still alive,” he said, dragged a pitiable look across his face.

And while he spoke Brian bowed his face , as guilt took over him. Suddenly he started sweating on his forehead, and since he couldn’t stand and hear his mention his sin, he said, “Um dad,” he said and his father looked at him, can I return to the toilet now. I think I am pressed again,” he added, placing his hand on his stomach and grinning pretentiously…
