Chapter 147: Chapter 147

Chapter 147

~Are you for real?~

“I am done,” she said, swirling around in the front of the mirror to behold her dazzling looks.

He wanted to applaud her beauty but he kept mute. “I can drop you off.”

“In the same Austin Martin boneshaker? Well, no need for that. My husband won’t find it funny seeing us,” she said inwardly, reminding herself that Ken was yet to marry her so she still remained a mistress. “I didn’t spend the night in his house, so I am getting ready for a fight. She looked into her phone and saw no missed calls, messages or voice notes from Ken and she expected nothing less from a man that wanted her not to only disappear from his life but from earth.

“I got to go,” she said, hooked her handbag. “Once again thank you for the dress and the previous night.” She said coldly and his face seemed lonely at once.

He shook his head, losing interest in words but not in her.

“I got to go,” she said yet again, making him feel he held her legs from walking and that there was something of hers that he still had- regrettably her heart.

He held out a rolled wad of dollars. “For your taxi since you won’t let me drop you.”

“You have done more than enough for me…” she meant to call his name but couldn’t recall anymore.

But he was quick to comprehend her troubles recalling his name, so he added, “Rodriguez.”

“…Yes, Rodriguez,” she sighed, “You helped me last night when I was tipsy, got me this dress, most importantly you didn’t take advantage of my being tipsy to fuck the hell out of my pussy. Such a Mr. Nice Guy. Are you for real? Anyways if you aren’t for real, you have pretended well,” she intoned.

Rodriguez wanted to smile but he fought it back and kept a bright face instead. He watched as Jacy started walking away to the door. He wanted to ask her lots of questions and wished she could stay back with him. He kept swallowing hard and thought asking her questions could be embarrassing.

“I hope we will see again? He groaned, knowing that they had known each other within a short period of time which was full of troubles; and it seemed they didn’t know each other at all. The only thing he knew about her was her name and he could swear that she didn’t know his.

“I don’t think so,” she said once she opened the door, gave him a lasting stare, as their eyes locked in one moment of total disappearance.

Rodriguez kept winking and swallowing hard, pulling up the looks of a kid that was warned never to play again in his entire life.

Suddenly the door slammed and he made after her but paused at the door, with his head resting on it and his palm slapping onto the wall angrily. He kept a huge grin and shook his head in disappointment. Before he dropped on the floor and stared at the ceiling thoughtfully, he got himself a cigar and started smoking with disinterest.

They will never meet again; he thought as he stared at the cigar burn away.

To say but the least was Jacy being restless and uncomfortable within herself while driving home in the taxi. She should have taken things easy with Rodriguez earlier. And since she had collected the dress from him, she saw no reason for rejecting the money.

No. she shouldn’t have gone too extreme. It could be likened to rejecting his heart. Heart? She had discovered earlier at the beach that her heart wasn’t hers anymore, and this alpha cute man had locked her in his heart. All along she had been playing strong to make him realize that her heart still belonged to Ken, even when the latter never appreciated and cherished her.

Was I too extreme? She thought. She wasn’t. She was just giving Ken the honor that was due him, and the opportunity to love what another man was dying for. It was like second chance to live. She wished Ken would cherish her like Rodriguez. Comparison wasn’t her thing, but she had to state the obvious. Rodriguez was a darling with no fault, and if it was pretense he pretended well. Or wasn’t Ken like that when he first met her? Now look at the beast he had grown into. Until the end of time she would know the heart to be locked in and the one whose door she would break and escape for her life.

The taxi drove into the horizon.

The stillness of the neighborhood wasn’t as the one at home when the taxi halted before her compound. Once she alighted, she gazed upon the double-detached duplex she called a home and started considering the war that was about to happen between her and ken. She wondered if she would be able to keep still should Ken begin to rant and yell at her. If she would keep still then she would have to walk away when the bickering became heated. Yes she was at fault. But the fault came as a result of his madness. She wasn’t going to tell him all that. She would try not to; but Ken shouldn’t push her.

The whole house was far more than tranquility. It was like a ghost house. Any little sound that came through left an echo and ear ringing silence that made her flinch an inch.

“Who is home? Blueeyes! Blueeyes! She called, her eyes combing around for anybody. “I am home, baby! Blue…!

There was no answer. Hastily, she made upstairs into Blueeyes’ room and he wasn’t in neither was it unkempt to make her believe he was anywhere around.

“Blueeyes!” she called at the top of her voice, “About running out to visit her bedroom, a written note caught her attention, and she made to it, unfolded it and read:

Son is safe with me. By the time you are back we will be on our way to California.

Good bye! Ken

No…no…no my son!” she screamed at the top her voice…

The battle line was just drawn…
