Roshni's P.O.V.

As I kept staring at the smiling face of Titly of the picture, all the incidents happened to me started coming to my mind.

At some point I sat on the floor with a thud keeping my watery eyes glued to the picture. I didn’t know how long I was like that until I felt someone shaking me.

I looked at the person blankly and it took me sometime to recognise the person who was no other than Ruhaan.

She shook me again and I came back to earth. When he asked me, “What’s wrong with you? Why are you being like this?”, all I could point at the picture of the wall and uttered a word, “Titly!” but got shocked when Ruhaan also uttered the word at the same time with me.

Ruhaan also gave me a surprising look and then again we uttered a same question at the same time to each other get shocked again, “How did you know Titly?”

Glancing at me, Ruhaan turned to the picture as he spoke up being  anguished, “Titly is my little sister but she is no more.”

While shaking my head, I spoke up then, “Noo. She is alive.”

He turned to me and spoke up with confusion, “What did you just say?”

I uttered looking at the picture, “Titly is alive. She is alive.” and then turned to Ruhaan only to find him giving me a disbelieving look.

He then uttered in watery eyes, “She died Roshni. She died in an accident three years ago.”

I turned to him and spoke up with watery eyes, “It’s me, Ruhaan who lost her sister three years ago in an accident and the girl who you thought of as my sister is not actually my sister Tithy but your sister Titly.”

He just uttered a word, “What?”

And I started telling him about the incidents happened back then. I told him how for the first time I met Titly in a watch shop and about that time also when I happened to find her with burnt face.

3 Years Back

That day I was going to office after visiting Ammi at the hospital. There was no improvement in her condition for the last 1 month.

She got an heart attack as soon as she heard the news of Tithy’s accident over phone call and went to comma.

Tithy died on the spot on that accident. I was trying to get myself together to save Ammi. As I became all alone after Tithy left us then.

I took loan from Bank using my house as the security for her treatment.

That day when I was walking towards office while thinking all this then all of a sudden I heard someone calling me, “Roshni Api”

Turning back, I found Titly who was sitting in a car. As soon as I stopped, she got down from the car and got near me.

We talked for a little while until I got a call from my office. Taking leave from her, I stepped forward a little and got in a taxi. As soon as the taxi started, I heard a sound of crashing.

I got down from the taxi immediately remembering Tithy’s accident time and found there were lying many bodies lifeless.

I ran there only to find Titly was lying also but her face was all burnt. By the face, I could barely recognise her but then I saw the watch in her hand which she showed me few times back to ask me how’s it looking on her wrist as I was the one who bought her the watch.

I got near her and started calling her name with teary eyes. Ambulances started coming and without thinking too much, I got inside the ambulance with her only to find it going to the same hospital where Ammi was admitted.

Her initial treatment was started and I kept waiting outside the ICU when my phone rang off. It was Heer who told me to rush to Ammi as she was gaining conscious time to time.

I rushed to Ammi only to find her uttering one name ‘Tithy’ whenever she got conscious. Doctor told me to call Tithy immediately as she needed to be with Ammi then.

I kept staring at Ammi through the glass and tears started falling from my eyes.

I kept standing there for a while then was about to run to the place where Tithy was put to sleep forever but stopped when a nurse called me.

As I turned to her, she spoke up, “Aren’t you the girl who brought the burnt patient? Doctor is calling you. Please come immediately. It’s urgent.”

Heer also reached there following me. She gave me a questioning look hearing nurse but without answering her, I went towards doctor.

As soon as the doctor saw me, he spoke up, “Where were you? You are the guardian of the patient, right?”

I kept silent at that and he continued, “She has been given the primary treatment. And there is some more to be given. Her face is totally burnt. She needs to go for plastic surgery later. Deposit the money so that we can start with the initial treatment before plastic surgery to know her condition better.”

Then the doctor left the cabin and Heer asked me, “Api, what’s all this? Who is the girl the doctor is talking about?”

All I could utter, “Titly.”

She again asked me being confused, “Titly! Who is Titly?”

Without answering to her question, I spoke up holding her, “Heer, sweetie you stay with Ammi. I will be right back.”

Before she could say anything, I left from there and rushed to the place where the accident was happened. When I reached there, there were police and people questioning all around.

I tried to look for someone who might be looking for Titly. Then someone came to me and asked, “Who are you looking for here, Roshni?”

Getting startled, I looked at him only to  find the person who was no other than Tamim who had always tried to talk to me from college days.

When I didn’t utter anything, he spoke up again, “Roshni? Why are you here now?”

While hesitating, I told him everything and he came with me to the hospital immediately.

Heer was calling me. So I rushed to Ammi after talking to the doctor of burnt Unit whereas Tamim called someone.

When I got back to Titly after talking to the doctor regarding Ammi, the initial treatment of Titly was already started.

And Tamim was waiting outside the operation theatre. I went to him and asked about it and he spoke up with a concerned tone, “I paid for the initial treatment.”

Finding nothing to say, I also kept waiting for the doctor to come out after operation.

The doctor came out after a long time and we rushed to him. Seeing us, he spoke up, “The condition of the patient is not good. We have tried our best and now all we have to wait until the wound get dried so that we can perform the plastic surgery. And she is also got injured to brain. So nothing can be said until she gains conscious.”Saying this, the doctor left.

Tamim left after saying, “I will look for her family.”

I kept visiting Titly whenever I visited Ammi in the hospital.

After 20 days

The condition of Ammi was still the same as she again went to comma.Then that day she again started gaining conscious from time to time while uttering the same name, “Tithy!”

I met the doctor of Ammi and he again said, “It would be the best if Tithy gets near Mrs. Ayesha. Otherwise I am afraid, she might got in comma again. And if she goes back to comma this time again, she might not survive.”

The doctor left and I kept staring at Ammi through the glass door and my eyes got all watery again. Then I felt someone standing beside me.

I turned to the person who was Tamim as he spoke up, “Roshni, I heard whatever the doctor said. If you want your mother to be well, you should bring your sister, Tithy back to her.”

I turned forward to look at Ammi again and spoke up as tears kept falling from my eyes, “I wish I could do that but Tithy is no more now.”

“But you have a girl with burnt face. I think this girl may be of the same age as your sister, Tithy.” hearing him, I got shocked.

Glaring at him, I spoke up, “Tamim, aren’t you a police Officer?  Isn’t it your duty to help that girl return to her family? Like I am worried for my mother, the girl’s family must be getting worried for her too. I told you, her name is Titly. Search for her family.”

“Without any surname but only by the name 'Titly', how can I search her family? I have been trying my best but just couldn't. It’s been 20 days already and I didn’t get a missing report or something till now. And we don’t have the time to keep searching. Today the doctor said to me to give the picture of her face for plastic surgery as soon as possible. As the wound has been dried. If it’s get late for the operation, it will be worse for her.” Tamim went on saying but I kept silent while thinking what to do about it.

“Okay then. If you think it’s not right then give the doctor the picture of that girl and by the time I will keep searching for the girl, Ti..Titly” Tamim got stuttering uttering Titly’s name but without bothering that, I asked him, “Yeah. It’s not right to do such a thing but where will I get her picture now?”

“Then take a decision Roshni about what do you want to do? Do you want to save your mother and as well as the girl or leave them to..”

Interrupting him, I just uttered glaring at him, “No.” and I looked back as I felt a hand on my shoulder....
