Chapter 9: Chapter 9

After 3 more episodes, Lorelai did not notice that it is already 2 am. Kelly fell asleep at the sofa, so Lukas decided that he will bring her home since she have to work tomorrow. It was almost 3 at midnight when they arrived. Lorelai bid Lukas goodbye.

She opened the door, and she got greeted by Maxwell coldly looking at her. It looks like he did not sleep even a blink. Maxwell has been waiting for her to go home.

“Where have you been, my wife?” he said in a very stern tone, giving Lorelai goosebumps.

I blinked when I hear the last word he said. Wife? He must be insane, we are not married yet. Despite that I could still feel the flush in my cheeks, I feel like I am red as a tomato. Thankfully, it was so dark he won’t notice.

“Huh? I thought we are not supposed to meddle in each other’s affair. Does this concern you, Maxwell?” I asked, trying to be calm as possible.

“Of course, it does. You should be sleeping early, it's bad for the baby.” he insisted. I sigh so loud that he could hear. I am getting tired, I want this to be over.

“Yeah, bad for the baby,” I exclaimed. “So can you stop interrogating me and let me sleep? For God’s sake, I am so tired today. Everything about this day is shit, so just let me go.” I tried to walk past him but he keeps on blocking it.

I tried to push him but I feel so weak. He leans closer to my ears, he is so close I could smell his breath it smelled like coffee and mint.

“Next time…never make me want to kill someone because I am worried about you, Lory,” he whispered to me, I can’t help but breathe for air because I feel like every air inside me is gone.

Just like that, he turned his back to me, and I felt like my knees are getting weak. I hold my chest, as I feel like my heart is going to break through my ribcage.

‘Is he worried about me? or the baby?” I know very well that of course, the answer is the latter.

After my heartbeat calmed down I decided to do a quick half bath. After that I let myself doze off.

When Lorelai woke up, she still feels sleepy, but she panicked as she see the time. She quickly goes to shower and brushes her teeth as quickly as possible. She do not have time for breakfast anymore so she grabbed some biscuits on her way out.

She called a taxi, which arrives a little late.

“Where would you go Miss?” the driver asked looking at her in the rear mirror:

“To M&M Clinton Company.” Lorelai answered. Lorelai noticed that the speed of the taxi is slow.

“Uh Sir, could you go a little faster? I’m late.” Lorelai said politely.

The taxi driver nods and drives faster. Lorelai keeps on looking at her watch; she is almost half an hour late. The taxi is moving so fast, that the driver did not notice the car quickly approaching them at the intersection.

In split seconds the car crashed, the impact is so powerful. The car drifts away to the road, Lorelai tried to protect her head, but it's too late. She bumped her head so hard that blood flows out of it, she tries to remain awake but she failed.

On the other hand, Lorelai’s colleagues are all gathered for a company meeting. Kelly looks around but did now see Lorelai. She is beginning to worry since she has never been that late. When everyone is seated, Maxwell arrived.

He sees that Lorelai’s spot is empty and her best friend Kelly looks anxious. He begins to feel something is wrong. Kelly is typing something on her phone, she is frantic. Then her phone vibrated, she is receiving a call.

“Excuse me, Sir. Just an important call.” Maxwell just nods to her. Maxwell continues to talk in front when suddenly the door opened. Kelly gathered all her stuff she is shaking.

“Sir, it's Lorelai. She-” Kelly begins to get nervous, she is sweating, her hands cold like ice.

“What happened to Lorelai?” he asked, shaking Kelly. He is beginning to breathe roughly.

“She’s at the hospital! Car accident sir, they said she is still unconscious but stable. I’m sorry, sir… I’ll excuse mys–”

“I’ll drive you there. Go to work everyone, let’s continue tomorrow. Let’s go” he said, he walked out of the meeting room almost running.

“I need my car, park it outside this instance!” he screamed, he look so frantic, his heart is beating so fast.

He drive so fast than he ever did his entire life, when they arrive at the hospital he is panting.

“Where the hell is the room of Lorelai Harris! Bring me to her now.” he said as he grab the collar of the nurse at the desk. He is clenching his jaw, he is anxiously shaking.

“Sir, calm down!” Kelly screamed as he stopped Maxwell from punching the nurse.

“Can you calm down?” Lukas suddenly appeared, grabbing Maxwell. He looked at Lukas furiously.

“Where is she?” Maxwell said pushing Lukas.

“Who are you?”

Maxwell can’t contain his anger anymore, he is worried about Lorelai but this guy keeps on running around the bush. Without thinking twice, he punched him so hard that Lukas’ mouth bleed.

Lukas smirked at him, he wiped off the blood from his mouth. Maxwell is about to punch him again when Kelly put herself in the middle, stopping both of them.

“Stop it, she’s in room 221.” Kelly said, Maxwell ran and bumped into Lukas but he don’t care anymore.

Kelly and Lukas followed Maxwell as he run through Lorelai’s room, both of them is confused.

When finally Maxwell arrived at her room, the doctor is checking her vital signs. Lorelai is still unconscious. Maxwell holds the doctor's shoulder.

“How is she? How is our baby?” he said, shaking the doctor.
