Chapter 89: Chapter 89
Louis saw five missed calls, all from Pamela. He immediately called her back. "Pamela" he called as soon as she answered her phone.
"I've called you earlier," Pamela stated. He saw the towel around Louis' neck and water droplets still left on his face. He was bathing then, she guessed.
"I was taking a bath," Louis replied. Was she worried about him and called to check on him?
"Do you stay so long when taking a bath?" Pamela asked. "Yeah, sometimes when I need to take care of something. But is there a problem?" He asked and Pamela said nothing.
She expected Louis to say something else but he didn't. They both stared at each other over the video. "I'm sorry for today" she apologized.
"You haven't done anything to be sorry about. I was wrong to think the extreme, right? You said it's extreme" Louis mimicked in her words.
Pamela was speechless. Louis Hayden was upset with her. He feels hurt by her refusal and perhaps it wasn't easy for him.
"You said you were not upset with me before, but you really are?" Pamela asked, having this remorse in herself.
"Put yourself in my shoes, Pamela and answer that question. I don't feel like talking too much. You were my wife before and we never had it. After six years now, if you think I was going to the extreme to want to have it with you, then decide if it's normal to go horny with someone I love" Louis declared.
He told Pamela goodnight and hung up. Pamela was remorseful. She did the same thing with Lucas back then until he got solace in Emma's thighs.
Now Louis. She's pushing him away like Lucas rightly said. What is she going to do now? When she married him the first time, the union was never consummated.
The urge and bottled desire was in Louis. He wanted her, it doesn't matter if he had it with her in his beachside village tent or on his bed in his mansion.
She tried calling him but he wasn't answering his phone again. She sent him a message saying "I'm ready anytime for you henceforth. But he didn't respond to her text as well.
Freddie's condition became severe again and he was rushed to the hospital. Before dawn the next day, Freddie Grayson was no more.
The news of his death came to Pamela the next morning. She called Louis but he wasn't answering. She sent a message to her assistant that her foster father was dead.
She went to the morgue to see him. She sobbed. Her bitterness against him and the entire members of the Grayson's family suddenly vanished.
"Dad.. I missed you…"Pamela sobbed. She went to hug his cold body. Lucas had arrived. Greg had informed his boss Ellis and Leah Hayden that he lost his brother-in-law.
They in turn called Louis, the latter promised to stop by the morgue on his way to work. He had silenced his phone after talking with Pamela and slept off.
He saw her missed calls and tried calling her back but she wasn't answering as well. He decided to stop by the morgue and see her.
When he arrived, he saw Greg and Freya sobbing and he asked about Pamela. Greg pointed into the morgue and he went in.
"Dad... I'm sorry I didn't get to tell you that I have forgiven you...I love you so much dad…" She was sobbing and Lucas held her close to himself when Louis stepped in.
Why is Lucas always getting every opportunity to be in contact with Pamela? He said she doesn't deserve him and hence didn't tell her how he felt but was always having this closeness with her.
He came over and pulled her to himself out of Lucas' grip and hugged her. Pamela perceived his fragrance and knew he was the one. She sobbed on his shoulders bitterly.
Louis wondered if Pamela cared so much about her foster family that she was sobbing so hard. He led her out of the morgue and came to Greg and Freya.
"My condolences" he said and walked Pamela back to her car. "My condolences Pamela" Louis declared and held her close.
Greg came over and said "Pamela, Freddie was your father. We need your opinion on what to do next"
Freddie has two daughters. Pamela is the eldest and Emma is the youngest. The younger is in prison and Pamela alone will handle the funeral rites.
"Where is Emma?" Pamela asked, looking around to find Lucas and Freya. They both came closer, Louis supporting her, his hand on her waist.
"Emma is in jail" Greg answered and Lucas stood, unconcerned and looking like he was lost how Emma ended in jail.
"Jail, how did she end up there?" Pamela asked, glancing at Lucas. He shrugged and didn't answer Pamela.
"Say something, Lucas" Pamela urged and he said "I don't know why you are asking me the question, Pamela"
There was quietness for a few seconds. Louis didn't say a word. He just came over to be a shoulder for Pamela to lean on.
"I am asking you because you were the closest person to her" Pamela asked and Lucas was furious with her "what is wrong with you, Pamela. Didn't I tell you we are divorced?
You should be asking her mother and uncle, why me? I am here because of you but if you know you don't need me here, I will just leave and not come back"
"Why are you being furious, Lucas? She used to be your wife and you might know why she was jailed" Pamela snapped at him.
Louis glanced at Lucas and saw how furious he was with his girlfriend. He coughed slightly "you both are best friends. Just stop the quarrel and talk about the funeral arrangements"
"Can we talk about your father's funeral and leave Emma out of this?" Freya commented, her eyes Puffy and red. Her complexion was reddish and she was glad that Pamela was there.
They are heavily in debt already for Freddie's hospital bills. Now, he's dead, how can they afford a funeral home for a proper wake- keep?
"I want to give a proper burial, that's the least I can do for him, right now. Uncle Greg, hire the best funeral home and let the wake keep follow" Pamela requested.
She gently placed her head on Louis' chest and sniffled. The latter caresses her hair affectionately and everyone around saw how loving the duo are.
Freya glanced at Louis' face and their eyes locked. She looked away. She never knew a day like this would come when Louis would be alive and dots on Pamela.
She had forced Pamela into getting married to him in exchange for wealth. She thought he would never get out of the coma, that he would die and Pamela would get his money and properties.
But who knew life would give him a second chance, that he would fall in love with Pamela and showered her with wealth, name and love?
"My love, would you help me get Emma out to attend dad's wake keep?" Pamela requested, snuggling into him.
"I will lobby for it" he answered and Pamela thanked him. Lucas was observing the lovers. He remembered what Pamela asked him the previous evening and wondered what it would be like, with Louis drilling her hard beneath him.
Freya also glanced at them and she subconsciously glanced at Lucas. She saw him stealing glances at them. He would have been the one holding Pamela so lovingly if things weren't messed up by her daughter and herself.
Louis walked Pamela into his car and asked if she had her debit card with her. Pamela said no, she would ask her uncle to come over for it.
Louis said okay. He got into his car safe and brought out four bundles of new currency and handed them over to Greg "this will go a long way. If you need more, talk to me not my girl"
He hugged Lucas. "Don't put Pamela's words to heart, she's grieving" and hugged him again, telling him they would meet at the funeral.
Greg was dazed. Such a huge amount of money and said if it's not enough, he should talk to him instead of Pamela, his girl.
This would take care of the funeral and pay up a major part of the debt owed as a result of his illness.
"Take Dr Pamela's car to her Mansion" Louis ordered his chauffeur while he took his own car key from him. Lucas said bye to them before sliding into his car.
Pamela forced a smile and waved back at him. Louis took over the steering wheel and drove off. Lucas offered to help the Freeman's siblings to their home.
Greg hired the mourning hall and by evening, Pamela returned, dressed in black from head to toe. She wore a dark shade and black veil over her head.
She came along with Louis, dressed in a black suit. Freya and Greg were also seated. Emma was also present, crying her eyes out.
Pamela was the last to arrive. She went to stand before the open casket and started sobbing afresh.
"I'm sorry I took your house from you. That's the most cherished asset that you have. You tried talking to me but I wouldn't listen and next, you became ill and left us all.
I promise to take care of mother on your behalf…"Pamela was mumbling when Lucas arrived and sat beside Louis. The two of them glanced and acknowledged each other with a nod.
From where Lucas was seated, he sighted Emma seated by her mother. The hall was soon full as employees from the annex company came in large numbers.
Soon, Freya came over in her black dress and hugged Pamela. Emma sluggishly stood up and came over, unsure whether to hug Pamela or not.
The three of them stood before Freddie and sobbed. Everyone sobbed, filled with different reasons why each of them sobbed.
Emma regretted that she was not able to attend to her father when he fell ill. Her mother called her and informed her but she refused and said it's a scam.
Now, he was no more. She would never see him again and her sins cannot be forgiven. She felt bitter and wished things didn't turn out like this.
Freya sobbed because she really was never a good wife. She frustrated him and never let him enjoy real happiness in his life. She raised their daughter terribly and the adopted daughter she despised was the one who took care of his last expenses on Earth.
As the daughters and mother stood in front, Lucas sighed softly. He wished that things could return to normal between Pamela and her family, especially now that they only have each other.
