Chapter 73: Chapter 73
It was that same night that Louis arrived in Oak City along with his parents and kids. The journey was a bit tiresome for the kids, hence he got them some pills when they arrived and they slept off.
His parents drove back to the Hayden's Mansion that night while Louis and his kids remained in his mansion. He soon took a bath, and took his own dose of the same pills like the ones he gave his kids and pushed it with a glass of milk.
He laid on his bed and the thoughts of Pamela flashed through his mind. He's been so busy these past few days that her thoughts never crossed his mind.
Will she be sleeping already? Reports getting to him is that she's having a close intimate relationship with Lucas Wright, her ex.
Are they seeing each other or just friends? That idea of lovers to friends is not too comfortable with him. He prefers it if it's friends to lovers.
He needs to be a man for once and confess his feelings to her. She either accepts or says no. He can't keep this one sided love burning inside of him. It's like a flame and it's consuming him.
Next morning, Louis had breakfast with the kids and set out for Hayden's cooperation. When he got to the office, he saw a pile of folders before him, all having one proposal or desire for partnership with them.
He wondered what it would have been like if he wasn't working while in the US? Despite the number of files he's attended to, such a pile of it was waiting for him.
He called his secretary and told her to arrange the files in various categories. Quickly she did and Romeo walked in with a different file, placing that one directly at the top.
Louis got to work, and he picked the first file. People's Bank requesting for partnership with them. Seeing who their consultant was, he squinted.
Pamela and Lucas Wright? His attention was focused mainly on the name Pamela Johnson. She's a member of the board of trustees and a shareholder.
He was furious. What the hell is going on here? Pamela came so low to take a job like this, a former CEO? What is wrong with her, why can't she come to him if she needs a job?
What was she thinking, did she think he bought the company to get back at her? He had invited her to have a discussion with him but she declined.
Now she wants him to approve a partnership with the financial company she now worked with? What kind of a stubborn woman is Pamela Johnson?
He glanced up at Romeo and their eyes locked. The latter knew that his boss had a crush on his ex wife. Something must follow and he is certain of that.
"Are you aware of this proposal?" He asked. He glanced at Romeo, his stare cold. It is obvious that he was unhappy with the proposal.
"Why didn't you tell me? You know that Pamela is not just anyone else to me. So why didn't you tell me beforehand?" Louis thundered.
"I'm sorry. I wanted you to see it before I buttress on it" Romeo apologised. He knew Louis Hayden loves Pamela. She's actually the only woman who he's ever fallen in love with since they've been together.
"That she's with Lucas Wright now. And also working with him?" Louis Hayden was getting angrier and he dropped his pen.
Romeo sighed softly. Louis was jealous now. He doesn't want Pamela to be unnecessarily close to Lucas. But what was he to say or do about it?
"I can't really do anything about it sir. Pamela is the mother of your kids and I feel you are in love with her. Being with Lucas is not something anyone can do about it because you haven't confessed your feelings for her and you are not…"Romeo was saying when Louis yelled at him.
"That's enough. You can't even watch my back? So you know that I love her?" Louis asked, his facial expressions getting a little softer.
Romeo nodded and was quiet. "I want to have lunch with her. Arrange for a meeting" Louis declared.
"Yes sir" Romeo answered and wanted to leave when Louis added "Just the two of us. I don't want a third party"
Romeo understood. The third party was none other than Lucas Wright. He looked away. Romeo walked out of the door and shut it behind him.
Pamela received a call. She saw it was Romeo that called. She was actually eager and waiting for his call. Quickly, she answered her phone.
"Hi Romeo" she said, holding her breath and waiting for the news. It is either positive or negative feedback. Whichever one it is, it is still news.
"Good morning Miss Pamela. President Hayden wants to have lunch with you by 12:15 today. I will send the address to you and please, be on time, he doesn't like waiting" Romeo informed her.
"Alright. Just let me have the address on time" Pamela agreed. Lunch with Louis Hayden? This is going to be the first time. She felt her belly sweet with the news.
She's going to be with him that day. She had missed him and the kids. She would be able to get to ask him about the kids.
"And please, it's strictly for both of you," Romeo added. He knew if anything goes wrong, his boss would lay the blame on him.
"Ok" Pamela replied and hung up. Even if it wasn't mentioned, she isn't going to lunch with Louis and come along with her friend Lucas.
Thirty minutes later, Romeo sent her the address. She immediately started preparing to leave. She picked a blue armless gown and wore it.
She made her hair into a bun and applied red lipstick. She wore her golden earrings and bracelet, making her look classical.
At exactly 12 noon, she set out to meet Louis. She arrived at the restaurant and looked at her wristwatch. She had three minutes left and she parked her car, walking into the restaurant.
"Here, Miss," the steward pointed in the opposite direction. That's why the VIP restaurant was. She went quickly and the steward at the door pushed the door open.
As Pamela glanced at the whole seats, they were all empty except at the far end, Louis was seated, staring at her. He obviously saw her when she drove in and didn't hide the fact that he has his eyes fixed on her.
She saw him and sighed. She walked delicately towards him. He must have booked the entire restaurant for lunch. He is the richest dude in town.
In the past he was being rated in billions but now, after that project, Louis is definitely rolling in trillions already. So he could buy this entire restaurant and not know he had spent a dime.
As Louis kept his gaze on her, he felt his heart become softened. He admired her. They were having lunch together for the first time and that day would go down in memory for him.
As he watched, he felt a great pull to hold her and kissed her. She's beautiful, and classical and he liked such women. He maintained his expressionless face as she arrived at the table and he stood up.
"Hello Louis Hayden, sorry I am a minute late" she chimed, taking his hand for a handshake. His hand was soft and warm.
Louis chuckled softly "Thanks for honouring my invitation" Louis replied, taking her hand and holding it longer than it should be. It was only when Pamela glanced at their intertwined hands that he let her go and offered a seat.
They sat down and Pamela smiled at him. Louis couldn't keep his eyes away from her. He saw her through another realm of beauty. Why didn't he see these qualities in her back then?
Why did he divorce her and forced her into having an abortion that year? Gosh, he was so stupid back then and till the present moment, he had not been able to evaluate the height of his stupidity.
The waiter came to take their orders. Pamela opted for fried rice and veggies. Louis asked to have the same with her. The waiter soon returned with their meal.
Louis asked him to bring the best non alcoholic wines, different types. He doesn't know which one Pamela would like.
They started eating. Louis couldn't take his eyes off her. Pamela's gown has an opening in the front and that allowed for the opening of her cleavage.
Pamela is not busty but her boobs were full and firm. Moderate and attractive. It doesn't seem as if she ever breastfed those quadruplets.
After a few times, Pamela pushed the plate aside. She was alright. She was full. She might decide to take snacks if she felt like eating anything when the purpose of their meeting was over.
Louis soon pushed his meal aside as well. He doesn't know if he was full but he sure knows that talking to Pamela was more important to him at that time than eating more.
He cleaned his mouth and saw that Pamela was done, only waiting for him. He turned and glanced at the bodyguards and they bowed gently and went a few distance from them.
"I wouldn't want us to stay too long because I am very busy. Why I invited you to lunch is to ask you a few questions and also make you understand a few things" Louis said and paused.
His eyes were on Pamela still and the latter was getting uncomfortable with his stare. It seemed to her as if he was scrutinizing her.
She nodded and Louis continued "You are now working with the People's Bank, and you brought a proposal for partnership to Hayden's cooperation?" He asked.
Pamela doesn't know if Louis was asking her a question or making a statement. But all the same she nodded.
"You also did some jobs for some other companies. I found out that you prepared business proposals for three other companies and they also submitted to Hayden's cooperation. Isn't that right?" He asked.
Pamela snapped her head up and stared at him. She squinted. How did he know that? She used different methods of proposal preparation and didn't expect that he would know she did it.
"You think I won't find out or know you did it? Pamela, why are you doing this? If you need a job, why don't you come to me? How can you become such a meagre employee in a company whose entire worth isn't one third of the company you once preside over. Why did you accept such jobs?" Louis asked, his voice stern.
