Chapter 55: Chapter 55

Initially she was furious. She was not interested in seeing him but then, she remembered that all this was happening to her because she didn't let go of her grudge with Louis.

She asked the security to let him in. In five minutes, Lucas walked into the mansion where Grayson's house once occupied.

Pamela was upstairs, getting changed into something simple when Lucas arrived. He later looked around the sitting room and agreed that the house indeed was befitting of a CEO that Pamela had become.

He sat down and soon, four lovely kids giggled and came to the sitting room. They paused when they saw a guest seated.

The four kids said "Hi" and then giggled away. He squinted, are they quadruplets? How did it happen? Wasn't Louis Hayden in coma when they both got married?

These kids were Louis' kids. No doubts about it. Two of the boys look like him. The other boy looked like Pamela but seemed to have Louis' eyes.

Only the girl looked different from the others. He smiled at them and beckoned them to come closer. They did and he hugged each of them.

"My name is Lucas Wright. Can you each tell me your name?" Lucas asked and they introduced themselves by their names as well.

He was all smiles and talking playfully at them that he did not notice that Pamela had come downstairs. The latter coughed slightly to announce her presence.

Lucas paused and raised his head to find Pamela glancing at him and the kids. She looked expressionless and one cannot tell what is going on in her head.

Pamela looked at Lucas and the kids. If only Louis was the one playing so happily with them, she would have been happy.

She told him he could check on them once a week, but he never came. After that day in the hospital, he had never come to check on them.

"Hello Pamela," Lucas said, standing up on his feet in courtesy. That was when Pamela regained her wits and glanced at him briefly and motioned to him to have his seat.

"How are you doing, Lucas?" Pamela asked, taking her seat. Her words were plain and held no grudge.

Lucas thanked her and took a seat. A servant came and offered them both a glass of wine each.

Pamela took a sip and asked" you wanted to see me?" She glanced at him briefly. Her bitterness towards him was no longer there.

The kids ran off to continue playing. Lucas bowed his head completely lost for words. "I have come to see you, Pamela," he said.

"Yes, I know. I was told while you were outside the gate that you wanted to see me" Pamela declared. Why does she feel he was lacking words to state his purpose of coming.

Lucas looked embarrassed. "I am sorry for everything I did to you. I was wrong to have treated you the way I did, I betrayed you for Emma and couldn't stand up for you when I should. Please forgive me, Pamela" Lucas apologised.

"Which should I forgive you first, is it the one that you and Emma are drilling each other behind my back while I was your fiance or that you humiliated me, which one?

And this might interest you that the night before my wedding to Louis Hayden, I came to your apartment and found you thrusting deep into her and she moaning out your name.

And at that time, I was still your fiance. So tell me, the one you want me to forgive first?" Pamela asked, picking her glass of wine and taking it to her lips.

Lucas bowed his head. He was indeed ashamed of himself. She really saw them back then and didn't yell or say something to show her pain of Betrayal? She saw them and walked away?

"How can I recount how sorry I am, Pamela? I have done what I feel ashamed of. I just want you to forgive me. I am really sorry and I regretted my actions…"Lucas apologised.

For a few minutes, there was silence in the sitting room. Pamela found it hard to utter the words I have forgiven you and yet, she wasn't feeling bittered against him anymore.

"I've forgiven you," Pamela declared.

The Stone-cut group, now a subsidiary company under the Hayden's cooperation, was going to send out a notification if the President of the Hayden's cooperation was retaining the former employees or he would flush them out.

When Pamela eventually got the notification that President Hayden was going to have a general meeting with the entire employee the next day, Pamela had prepared her resignation letter.

She already knew what his decision would be concerning her. He was flushing her out. Even if she's the only one, he wasn't going to retain her.

She would be there for the meeting and when it's over, she would drop her letter behind and leave. She would find another job even if it has to be outside of Oak City.

She's a business consultant and getting a job wasn't going to be difficult for her. Many companies and corporations would be willing to hire her.

She went to check on the kids, they were already asleep. She kissed their temple, one after the other, covered them properly with the quilt and left their room.

She went back to her room and for the next hour, she submitted her CV to various companies and cooperation. She might need to leave Oak City for real this time.

Late into the night, she finally laid her head on the pillow. The next day would be filled with a lot of activities she guessed.

Lucas was super relieved when he arrived home. It seemed like a dream to him. Just like that, Pamela swept the past under the carpet.

He never thought it would be so easy. He not only got her pardon, she agreed to be his friend and to seal off the past and begin a new friendship, they would cement it with lunch.

He proposed the lunch and reluctantly, Pamela agreed. He hadn't been excited like that in a while. He was glad the only thing that keeps pricking his conscience had been settled.

The next morning, Pamela received a few emails in her inbox. A few of those companies responded to her and set up a suitable time to have an interview with her.

Another email she received was the one sent from the office of the President of Hayden's cooperation. She was to see the President that morning in his office by 10am.

She decided to have an interview with her prospective employers first. She had an interview with an employer and immediately she was asked to state when she will be able to resume.

She promised to get back to them when she decides. Soon it was almost time for lunch and she had to keep her promise to Lucas.

Though she felt restless that she declined the invitation to be with the president of the Hayden's cooperation. Louis Hayden might be unhappy that she didn't come.

She missed his stares and gaze. Somehow she looked forward to seeing him again. He couldn't even come around to check on the boys?

She got into her car and called Lucas. The latter answered his phone and gave her an address. It's a prestigious restaurant and the newest in Oak city.

Pamela drove her car, heading to the address. Her mind kept wandering to Louis Hayden. She wants to settle everything with him just like she did with Lucas.

They can't be together, but at least they can keep in touch and call each other freely. He hadn't met his sons yet, only Dora knows him.

She arrived at the restaurant and went to park her car at the parking lot just as Louis Hayden arrived with his assistant and two bodyguards.

What a coincidence alighted from the car and met each other at the parking lot. Pamela saw the tall figure step out of his car in a black suit and red cloak.

He wore a dark shade and his straightened figure made him appear to be taller than usual. Pamela paused and stared at him with a softened gaze.

The guy is charming and handsome. His appearance has an undeniable compressing aura. His two bodyguards came forward and walked before him and behind him.

Pamela stood and waited for him to get closer before saying hi. She knew he saw her but might pretend not to, and thanks to his dark shades.

"Hello, Louis Hayden," Pamela said as soon as he walked to her side. She smiled at him and to her utmost surprise, Louis ignored her and passed. He treated her like air.

Not giving up, Pamela walked behind him but his bodyguards shoved her aside. "Don't you dare touch me with your filthy hands" she seethed, eyeing the bodyguards irritatingly.

"If you come any inch closer to Mr Hayden again, I will not only shove you aside, I will lift you off your feet and throw you off like a flea" the bodyguard threatened.

"Why don't you try it and see what will happen to you and your entire family" Pamela dared.

Louis Hayden simply strode on as if he wasn't the reason why the two adults were exchanging words at each other.

Even if his ears had been sealed with cotton buds, he would hear Pamela's words distinctly and clearly.
