Chapter 41: Chapter 41
Clarion was not convenient. Why would Leah not answer her phone? She decided to call Ellis but it's the same story. The couple were not answering their phones.
She decided to call Pamela. The latter was feeling very uncomfortable with what she's done to Louis when her grandma called.
She knew why her grandmother was calling. Immediately she saw the caller ID was her, her heart beat almost skipped.
When she eventually answered the phone, her grandmother instructed her to get in touch with Louis immediately. His company must not be affected by this fall in investors.
She should find out who the rival was. This is purely conceived out of envy by a competing corporation. She must see that nothing happens to Hayden's cooperation.
Pamela's hands shivered. Her grandmother was ready to support Louis Hayden without knowing she was the reason for the fall. How can she explain to her grandmother what she's done?
"I want answers as soon as possible. I will personally see that I ruin whoever has done that to Leah's son" Clarion threatened.
There was silence for a long time. Clarion wondered why Pamela didn't say anything and asked her what the problem was.
Rather than explain to her grandmother, she promised "I will fix everything grandma. The Hayden cooperation will return to its state again"
"I have full faith in you, princess Pamela. When it's all fixed, let me know" Clarion requested. Pamela said alright and soon Clarion hung up.
Pamela sighed. What now, she ruined him and must raise it up again. If her grandparents ever get a wind of what happened between herself and the Hayden's family in the past, she definitely cannot escape getting married again.
She can't help it. She would suspend her actions but not help it stand up again. Louis should do that himself. After all, when he dragged and forced her into that car back then, she was the one who helped herself to stay up and stable despite the pain of a threatened abortion.
And true to that, Louis was in his office making several calls. He was requesting for his emergency investment to put up and salvage the corporation.
It wasn't going to collapse. He was never going to let it go down. It worked. Some of the foreigners he had worked with in close collaboration, offered to come in.
And then an old friend of his, Miranda Alvan called him. She said they needed to meet that night. It's important and it might be of great help to the Hayden cooperation.
Louis Hayden was dazed. Miranda Alvan was in town? She really was in town and he was making so many calls? He needed to see her and their meeting was fixed at 6 pm that evening.
The Hayden cooperation shares began to grow again. Louis succeeded in procuring the shares back and stabilising it. The investors who left would be replaced by the foreign partners.
By the time Louis Hayden concluded the whole stabilisation, it was almost time to meet Miranda. He left the office and told Romeo he had a meeting with an old friend.
Romeo offered to drive him to the venue of the meeting. He knew Louis was already mentally worked up. He needed rest. And after the incident of his accident a few years ago, he had vowed to be by his side whenever he wasn't in his best mood.
Who knows if the meeting would end up making him a little drunk and tipsy. He cannot let anything happen to the dude again.
Louis was grateful and soon, Romeo drove him to a park, the French park to be precise. The park goes by that name because it was said to be the favourite place the French expatriates visited when they were in Oak city.
Because of that singular reason, the park earned its name. In a private room, Miranda Alvan was seated with her legs crossed on a sofa and was waiting for Louis.
She booked the room ahead of time and informed Louis where to meet him and the room number.
Louis arrived at the room number and a bodyguard held the door for him to go in. Louis got into the slightly dim room and saw Miranda Alvan seated poised.
"Louis Hayden" Miranda Alvan chimed, raising herself up and coming over to meet Louis Midway.
An excited Louis cupped her in an embrace. He held her tight to his body and placed a featherlight kiss on her hair. She's always been a beautiful woman but she's looking prettier than the last time he saw her.
She's more delicate and mature. Her long blonde hair was curly and her thin figure was alluring.
Her plum lips were painted red and she smiled happily, crossing her hands around Louis Hayden's waist. She placed her head on his broad chest and wished she could remain in that position forever.
She had a crush on him for years. She was married but she never stopped loving him secretly. He was a pure guy, a perfectionist and one who never had time for women.
She wondered if as cute as he was, he was still single. She heard a rumour sometimes back that he was married. But going through his profile, she didn't seem to find anything like that about him.
"It's good to see you again, Miranda," Louis chimed. He gently pulled away from the hug. They were friends not some old time lovers who found each other after a long time.
"How have you been, Louis?" Miranda chimed, smiling and pulling him over to have a seat. Louis Hayden followed and saw how exquisite she'd become.
"I've been alright except today" he chimed, taking a seat and pouring himself a glass of water. Miranda poured them both two glasses of juice.
She took her seat, sitting opposite to Louis Hayden. She was working on her computer when he came in and she placed the computer on the empty seat beside her.
"I saw what happened. Who did you cross that decided to destroy you overnight?" Miranda asked, taking her glass of juice to her lips.
"Someone I know. She wants to take revenge on me. She probably felt bringing Hayden's cooperation down was going to be the same as trampling on my pride and making me now at her feet…" Louis answered flippantly.
"Do you both…" Miranda trailed off. She wanted to know if they were lovers or what could he possibly have done to her, to have caused her so much pain. And the only way to deal with Louis Hayden was destroying his hardwork.
"Yeah...we had a past and I hurt her. Though I didn't know much about the whole situation before I did what I did. She doesn't want to forget nor forgive me. It's even now. We both have hurt each other and I feel a guilt lifted off my heart" Louis explained.
He was telling the truth. He had always felt guilty about what he did to Pamela and his kids. But after what she did that day, he doesn't feel that guilt anymore.
He felt light and happy inside of him. He's paid for his sins and now, he's a free man again. He only wished that one day, he would get to meet his kids and tell them he was sorry.
Besides the kids, he owes Pamela nothing. She's in her world and he is in his own world, totally world apart.
Miranda Alvan observed the looks on Louis' face as he said those words. He really was a great guy, he had always been so. He accepted the fact that he hurt the woman.
Talking about his guilt, he probably had been carrying it in his heart for a while. Only great guys can do that. But, he might not be willing to tell her exactly what happened. She's not going to pry further to his privacy.
"I'm glad you did your best, Louis. I was amazed how you were able to stabilise your cooperation within the shortest time. You make me proud of you, Louis" Miranda Alvan applauded him.
"Thank you. It took a lot from me you know but it's way better than seeing my hard work go down the drain in just one day" Louis declared, squinting and sighing silently.
The door was opened and the waiter brought them dessert. Louis politely turned it down. He told Miranda he had a lot to settle that night and would not be staying long.
In that case, she said they could proceed with the reason she invited him. She wanted to invite him to partner with her on her new project, a way to skyrock the Hayden's cooperation.
