Chapter 31: Chapter 31

A terrible mother could never raise an adorable daughter. Lucas' eyes had gone red. Emma plotted so evilly against him? How can she go to that extent to ruin him?

This is someone he tolerated all these years. And despite knowing she brought home someone else's child, he didn't humiliate her but repeatedly asked her to tell him the truth.

She decided to hurt him so badly? He had indeed signed that document without glancing at the contents. He had willingly transferred everything he ever had into her name.

He wasn't drunk when he signed it nor was he hypnotized when he signed. He was only sexually satisfied overnight and the result of it is the transfer of ownership of his lifelong labour.

He knew he would regret that intimacy the previous night but didn't know it would last a lifetime. He would never live in that house anymore.

"I don't want to live with you and your daughter, Freya. I rather spend the night on the street than live under the same roof with someone like you both" Freddie declared.

"Then you can leave, dad. I don't care, I don't give a damn. Just leave because I do not regret my actions nor will I change my decision" Emma blurted out.

Freddie went into the room, without saying another word and went to pack his things. Lucas also got into the bedroom, pack his most important things into a suitcase.

"I will fight back Emma. This is not the end. This is the beginning of a new era. But you will one day regret everything you have done.

If karma really does exist, it will catch up with you. Those you think love you and led you to this point will become your greatest enemies.

They would betray you and lead you to your end. That day you will bite your fingers and wish this day never happened, never existed.

I made an everlasting mistake when I left Pamela for you. I allowed you to seduce me and I ruined my own happiness with the person who loves me the most.

But today, I realized that I just paid for my sins and betrayals to her. But the day you will pay yours, it will be more fatal and no one will be there to rescue you…" Lucas declared.

Lucas walked out of the house where he had laboured and bought with his hard earned money. The house ceased to be his own from the moment he signed that document Emma brought him.

He then realized he doesn't have a car anymore. He had three cars. He gave one to Emma and drove in any of the remaining two. But none of the three was his anymore.

He dragged his suitcase along. He needed to get a taxi and get to Nelly's place. He would definitely find a place to lay his head that night and think of the miserable choice he had made.

Freddie also got his few things and walked out of the house. The moment Freddie walked out, Emma felt an important part of her life had ceased to exist. Nothing is ever going to be the same again.

Her facial expressions changed. Freya saw it and coaxed her "you have nothing to lose darling. Your father will eventually return to you, when he doesn't find a place to put up with, he will come running back to us.

We are together now. You, Rowland and I. These three of us are a team and our dear little Albert is our treasure. We will be fine. You have us and we are enough for you"

Emma smiled and nodded. She knew her mother wasn't that perfect, but her father meant a lot to her. He loved her very much. Even when she was younger and Pamela was with them, it was still evident how much he cherished her.

"You are my idol Emma. And I will always be with you" Rowland coaxed her. He sipped from his wine and narrowed his brow. He had finally returned to Emma, this time, she will never forget him again.

Pamela's eyes were filled with hostility as it glared at Louis. Are these the people her grandma told her was coming to visit?

Leah's eyes had welled up in tears. She cannot hide her emotions, that's Leah's weakness. She didn't know how to pretend at all.

"This is Leah Hayden, your mother's 'bestie'. And this is her husband Ellis Hayden and their son, Louis Hayden. They are such an amazing family" Clarion introduced.

Clarion's words made Leah pause and rethink. Is Pamela Alice's daughter? How can that be? Oh no, she looked intently at Pamela and she seemed to see Alice's face in hers.

What had she done? Had she been seeing Alice's daughter back then and couldn't recognize her friend in those eyes? What kind of a friend is she?

"Mm.. nice meeting you" Pamela said, taking Leah's hands first. The older woman couldn't help but hold her hand firmly as Pamela standing with her back to her grandparents signaled to them to be quiet.

She guessed Leah will spill the beans. She doesn't want her grandparents to know a thing about the past or that she had been married once.

She took turns and shook hands with Ellis politely but when it got to Louis, she eyed him and looked away. It's weird but her grandparents assumed that because she doesn't like men, she doesn't want to get unnecessary familiar with the young man.

It's now turn to introduce her granddaughter and Clarion went ahead "This is princess Pamela Johnson, my granddaughter. But Tarvan and I decided to go by calling her daughter. She's Alice's biological daughter and she had taken the place of her mother in our hearts"

Leah couldn't hold much longer. "Alice's daughter?" She asked amidst tears and pulled Pamela to herself. She started sobbing quietly.

"I missed you so much. I have sobbed, looked everywhere for you and thought I would never see you again…"Leah Hayden said.

Clarion and Tarvan thought she was saying those words about Alice and said it directly to her daughter Pamela. But Ellis and Louis knew exactly what Leah was saying.

Pamela tapped Leah Hayden quietly. She didn't say anything because it is assumed that she hadn't met her before. She sniffled.

"You see Leah, I also said something similar to what you said when I heard Alice died and left a daughter. We went to search for her and we found her. She had gone through a lot when growing up.

But when I found her, I heard she was taken to an orphanage when no one came to claim her. Then she was adopted by a family and she grew up with them.

The day I set my eyes on her, I knew Alice had returned to me. She has left an integral part of her behind and for that, I will forever be grateful" Clarion said soberly.

"When she came into our lives, that void was filled again. The vacuum that Alice left behind ceased to exist and she filled our lives with happiness again.."Tarvan added.

There was an absolute quietness. Each was left in her own thoughts. Leah refused to let go until Clarion asked "Isn't she beautiful?"

Leah pulled away from the embrace and cleaned her tears "More than being beautiful, she's absolutely gorgeous and irresistible" she replied.

Clarion was excited and glanced at Louis. The latter was caught off guard. His eyes were still red and he still glared at Pamela with guilt.

"Are you alright, Louis?" Clarion asked and the latter came back to his senses "yeah sure. You've got a beautiful daughter and the sight of her, took my breath away" Leah pretended to be stunned.

Clarion was pleased. If Louis is impressed by Pamela's beauty, coupled with her personality, he might end up crushing for her.

"The dinner proper" Clarion announced and led the way as they got to the dinner table. It's a large transparent glass table that is capable of hosting ten persons.

They began by setting the desert. The guests seemed to be tense and only had a few bites. And when the dinner was set, Louis practically couldn't touch it.

His mind kept wondering what Clarion said earlier. She said her daughter is a single mother with quadruplets. Are those the same babies he forced her to abort?

Ellis tried to act casual and said things about how a young woman has so much ability to create her own niche. He sang her praises that Pamela is a woman with great talents and determination.

Tarvan said she had succeeded and become the richest CEO in Middletown City. She had also come to Oak City and he believed in her, she would gain more ground.

Ellis talked about Louis too. He also is wealthy and single. It appears both of their children have a lot of similarities. They would go places in life.

Leah kept glancing at Pamela. She doesn't have interest in whatever discussion was going on. She feels like spilling the beans and telling Clarion that she knew Pamela before her.

But the younger woman kept giving her signal to be quiet. She doesn't want to go against her will. But the earlier she comes to find them, the better it would be.

Unable to sit still, Louis declared "I might have to leave now, I needed to meet with another appointment" "I will go and check on the kids" Pamela said at the same time with Louis.

At the same time, both of them stood up. The adults were surprised at the coincidence. Louis stared at Pamela and the other glared at him expressionlessly.

"Ok" "Alright" Clarion and Tarvan excused them both. But Clarion felt uneasy. Is there something she needed to know?

Louis kissed his mother's chin and his father's hair. "I'll see you both," he declared and walked out. He got into his car and looked at the mansion, this is unbelievable.

Maybe it was instincts or the law of attraction, Louis glanced up at the window of the top floor and saw a silhouette standing between the window blinds and looking out of the window.

He saw the figure because the room was lit up and the figure undoubtedly belonged to the fellow who claimed to go and check on her kids, their kids he hoped.

Louis kept glancing at her and after sometime, she left and he didn't see her again. He pressed his ignition switch and zoomed off, not to his house now, but to the hospital where he thought the abortion should have taken place.
