Chapter 60: Chapter 60
Alice smiled. She glanced at Lucas and both of them chuckled aloud. She didn't know if he asked or said anything to her, she would simply let it go.
"I asked you if you would be free to come with us?" Lucas asked. When he asked her, she didn't respond to him and he glanced at her but saw she was unusually quiet .
"I will definitely make myself available. I also want to see Pamela's baby too" Alice declared.
Lucas nodded and turned the ignition on. "I will come over to pick you then" he volunteered and Alice said okay.
Lucas toned in cool music. He seemed to be flowing along with the lyrics. Alice glanced at him and said "Do you still love Pamela?"
Lucas' facial expression changed. He didn't glance at Alice but kept his gaze on the road. Alice had touched the deepest part in his heart.
"Does it make any difference? Besides, why do you ask?" Lucas asked, with a poker face. Alice is asking him something he doesn't want to talk about.
"Because I think you show signs of someone in love. I'm sorry if I talk too much" Alice answered and shyly glanced at her fingers.
"I love Pamela even till tomorrow. Sometimes, you don't get what you lose, because you don't deserve it anymore.
Pamela is one pure hearted woman that any man would love. You need to see how much love Louis showers on her. He dots on her and she loves him too.
Didn't you also love when you met her? She's a lovable person. I don't know how Louis will apologize to her when he remembers the past. I really don't know…"Lucas trailed off.
Alice nodded. Lucas is right. She also loves Pamela despite just meeting her.
"Until my seventh life, I can't stop loving Pamela. I couldn't pursue her and make her my woman again because of the breach in trust. I was happy when she accepted me back as her friend" Lucas concluded.
"Did you cheat on her?" Alice asked.
"Yeah. I cheated on her. I slept with her sister and I couldn't stand her anymore" Lucas confessed.
"You were wrong. How can you let down your guard to have affairs with your future sister in-law?" Alice reprimanded.
"I wish I had answers to your questions. I paid for my betrayals, Alice. And I also learnt a lot from it. That's why I want to remain single for as long as I can. I don't need a woman for now" Lucas disclosed.
Alice sighed. She glanced at him and saw his pained expression. He was not happy that they ended up that way.
"You can't keep punishing yourself by staying away from women. All you need to do instead is to apply the lessons you've learnt from the past into a new relationship and avoid the pitfalls you encountered.
You are a man. You'll need to raise a family. You once lived as a married man. You should put the pieces of your life together and begin again" Alice advised.
Having been involved in a car accident doesn't mean one will stop driving a car. It only means you should be extra careful when behind the steering wheel.
"You don't understand. No woman has ever loved me like Pamela. Until I fall in love with a woman who also loves me very much, I won't be involved with anyone" Lucas explained.
"What about sexual urges, don't you have them?" Alice asked and immediately became shy. She looked away, staring at the bright street lights.
Lucas glanced at her briefly and chuckled. "Yes, it's a normal thing. I'm not going to start a relationship with a woman because of it, it's the least thing that would make me pursue any woman.
I've had enough of it out of love. If I'm getting into it again, it's purely based on love. I'll make it out of love. That's the best I can do for myself henceforth" Lucas replied.
Alice nodded and said he was right. That's the way to be happy.
The next morning, Pamela and her three friends went to the hospital. Alice advised that they do it in the City hospital where she worked.
She and Lucas were also staring at the screen as Pamela's baby was being scanned. It's a beautiful thing to see and Lucas held her hand, acting like a real boyfriend.
"Your baby is healthy and strong," the doctor announced. Pamela smiled, glanced at her friends one after the other. They were also smiling broadly.
"Thank you doctor. I hope it's only one this time?" Pamela asked. She would just collapse if she ever heard the doctor make mention of multiple grains like the first time.
"Yes, it's a single foetus that is growing," The doctor declared.
While Pamela and her friends were happy in Oak city, Clarion and Tarvan were having a heated argument.
"... you can't do this, you can't confine me to my Chambers simply because you are the King. You can't take my rights of freedom away from me!" Clarion bellowed.
"I will do whatever I like and you can't stop me. No one can question me or confront me about why I did it. And I will ensure that you regret ever going against me" Tarvan thundered and walked out shutting the door behind him.
He ordered bodyguards to stand by the door and ensure the queen doesn't say anything to anyone without taking permission from him.
Clarion was mad, she was furious at Tarvan's humiliation. This is the height of it. She can't take this anymore. He dares to imprison her?
What is the difference between her and the common prisoners? She is imprisoned in her royal chambers while they are locked up in the dungeon.
How dare he do this to her? They must get divorced. She can't take it anymore. She wants to leave!
Late that night, Tarvan came to Clarion's Chambers. He was dressed in a loose robe and the already sleeping Clarion opened her eyes groggily and saw Tarvan standing by her bedside.
Her heart beat almost skipped. She sat up quickly and glared at him. She could guess what he's up to. She moved backwards gently when Tarvan said:
"You let me have you or I force you to do it"
