Chapter 52: Chapter 52
Clarion's eyes went moist but she held back her tears. Tarvan's disrespect for her has gone wild. It's a matter of minutes and the entire Middletown City would know that the King humiliated the queen.
"Grand nanny. I don't know what to do again. Tarvan Johnson is different from the man I used to know. He is different, he wanted an heir but had always been silent as if he didn't care about my inability to have another conception after Alice.
I worked hard and because I knew a day would come when he would want an heir, I went after Alice's daughter and brought her home.
I feel she would take the place of Alice in our hearts. She looked very much like her mother, Alice Johnson of the past. I was glad when he inculcated her into the royal family.
But I was wrong. Only I love Pamela, Tarvan never did. He was putting up a pretense, waiting for the day of his coronation where he can take more wives.
He called me barren, grand nanny, Tarvan called me so. He said I couldn't give him an heir and my place as the queen was for a while.
He said I should enjoy it while it lasted. But today, the position of the queen of this kingdom has been given off to one of his pregnant concubines.
I am happy for him. But honestly, grand nanny, I am hurt that he humiliated me before his concubines and everyone present in the royal court.
Eventually more than half of the entire Middletown City will hear the news that the queen was trampled upon by the king publicly.
But then, it doesn't matter to me anymore. I am happy that he will get what I couldn't give him. I wasn't fertile enough to bless him with many sons and daughters.
But everything will come to him as he grows old now. I am glad he will find an heir that comes directly from his Loins. Not a mere granddaughter" Clarion declared and sniffled.
"No matter what happens, you will always remain a queen, Clarion my dear. The King might choose someone else to take your place while you are still alive, it doesn't make any difference.
And you have never been a barren woman. Alice is a product from you and Pamela is an evidence of it" Grand nanny said weakly.
She wanted to talk more but she had no strength to say it at a stretch. She sighed and held Clarion's hand with a feeling of reassurance.
"No, after Alice, I became dry parched land. Every seed that Tarvan deposits inside me never gets a soil to germinate and grow. I am as good as a barren witch" Clarion described.
Grand nanny sniffled. She wishes she had many more days to live, she would have offered Clarion a shoulder to lean on. Her weak thin shoulders will have done the magic despite its wrinkles.
But no, she doesn't think she can hold on much longer. She kept hearing her husband's voice calling her to come over, beckoning at her.
How much she loved to remain with Clarion and nurtured the next generation of the young royals, but more than that, she desires to be with her husband again, the only man she had loved all her life.
"What about Pamela? What is her fate, where does she stand?" Grand nanny forced the words out with great difficulties.
"It's clear that she has no place here. She's lonely. She needs a mother right now. I'm thinking about leaving the palace and going to be with her" Clarion.
Grand nanny couldn't say anything but she forced a smile and nodded. Her dear little Pamela needs to experience the love of her mother through Clarion.
In Oak City, Leah's forehead went blank at Ellis last utterance. She's not sure she heard him well.
"What did you say, Ellis?" Leah asked, cleaning the tears off her face and glaring up at her husband.
Ellis hissed between gritted teeth. She suddenly didn't hear what he said now? Her evil scheme and plots have hatched and the fruit of it was growing in Miranda's belly.
"Miranda Alvan, your partner in the plot against Louis and Pamela, is pregnant. Louis Hayden, our son is the father of her baby. That means you are going to be a grandmother again from Miranda's side.
But I am not agreeing to have that child called by my family name. You should give the child your father's name as his last name. It's your sole responsibility" Ellis declared and walked past his wife.
Leah shivered and felt her Palm and feet had been drained of blood. She stiffened and remained rooted at a point.
Miranda Alvan is pregnant? Louis was having affairs with her? How can this happen? Isn't he mature enough to know that he should use protection when having intimacy with a woman?
She's done for. How can that be? She had a talk with Miranda Alvan and she claimed that nothing was going on between her and Louis in terms of that.
She lied. She breached the deal. How can Miranda do this to her? Would it not be better if it was Pamela that is pregnant?
This will ruin Louis' reputation. She needs to do something fast. That baby needs to be aborted.
That night, Pamela checked on her kids in their rooms. They were asleep. The servants are doing their best. They are just two and they take care of the kids a lot.
She kissed their temples. Besides her, they have no other family. She doesn't have a family as well. Besides Dr Alice and Lucas, she's a lone ranger in this life.
But shouldn't she find her father? Who is her father's family? Where did he come from and why hadn't anyone come to find her?
Maybe he doesn't have a family either. When he died, he went away, forgotten like a chicken. No one mourned or missed him. Why are things this way?
Even if she decides to go and find him, she doesn't know the name to begin with. He worked as an employee at the Middletown City royal house where he met her Mom.
Besides that, no one was willing to tell her anything more. She sighed. He's not someone she can trace. It would only end in futility.
Her kids are the only family she has left. She would live her life only for them. She would cherish every moment with them. They need to grow, knowing the love of a mother.
Now that she has no job, she isn't going to tell anyone about it. Not even Lucas and Alice. They will want to shoulder her responsibility if they get to know, especially Lucas.
She doesn't want to burden anyone with her personal problems. She would live on her savings for the time being while searching for better opportunities.
At least, the savings was enough to pay her bills for the next six months. But before then, she would ensure she has something to do.
A baby was on his way and she needed to make preparations for his arrival. It's her baby, it's her responsibility.
