"Happy birthday shuga" I said and just as the words left my mouth, I felt her palms on my cheeks. I chuckled. Her hands were soft and I could comfortably bet that she couldn't kill an ant with those hands...
I felt rage around her I chuckled at her anger..she probably felt like I was finding her anger funny...which actually it was funny
" you look beautiful today "I said and she scoffed running her hands through her head.
" are you enjoying your party? "I asked and that minute whatever she was holding up had expired. When she burst into tears and had her chest heaving topped with the many swear words she used
" fvck you and your fuvcking self..." she screamed at me as I jerked back in a not-so-suprised way...Christy was crying..literally and practically crying
She wasn't one to cry..she was the tough and tacky girl I fell in love with and she wasn't one to swear..but hearing her swear made me mad at myself. I knew I hurt her today of all days and I wanted to say sorry but the words that came out only infuriated her more
" are you swearing??? I sure must have taught you that "I said with a smirk as her left arm connected with my cheeks again.even though it didn't hurt, seeing Christy hurt was more painful
" okay...Chris! tell me something I don't know now !!! "She yelled as I turned my face away..
" it's nothing new christy " I replied
" LOOK AT ME NOW!!!! "she screamed...if there was some other girl screaming at me like that, I wouldn't hesitate to walk out on her.but no it was Christy in all her beauty and I swear looking at her was something i do over and over without probs. She looked gorgeous in her leopard skin jumpsuit which had a little v-neck opening and her make over was awesomely cool, her beautiful hair which was natural was packed upwards in a curly manner...need i say too much? She was the perfect definition of beauty
" Christy look...I..."
"You didn't remember my birthday cause you were stuck in traffic on your way to the airport and your memory got missing.....is that your excuse ? "She asked folding her hands on her chest as I held my expression in a suprised way.
I chuckled...Christy had her ways seriously, she etched her brows at me as I pulled her closer to me catching her unaware.she had a scent of vanilla flavors and I could literally eat her up.
" c'mon christy...why would you say that ? "I asked softly as her expression lightened
" I don't know..." she shrugged " but I'm having a not so good day and that's because you decided to be an extinct individual today of all blessed days "
I groaned rubbing my temples gently " I know christy and am sorry "
" for what?? "She asked squinting her gaze at me
" for everything...for not showing up today, for not being there for you and for especially letting you dance with a douchebag " I replied as her expression widened
" you saw that?? "She asked and I shrugged
" did you already plan to ditch me for him " I asked scoffing as she shook her head in a negative manner
" why would I ? I mean shola and i had some sort of a plan to excute out and somehow he made it quite easy " she added chuckling.I didn't want to think much about Andrew but I knew if he dared touch Christy again he'd have to kiss his ass.
" i kinda ran away from home..." I said as she froze searching my face for an explanation with worry written boldly on her face
" Dad was back home today...he...he as usual said I was leaving earlier and moreover layla just found out that she had leukemia " I said biting my lips at everything...dad had said he was sending layla too out of the country for proper treatments but layla had her fears if she would ever survive...the doctor said if treated on time she'd survive and I didn't want to lose her...she was my only sibling
I felt christy's hand wrapped around my torso as she buried her hair into my chest
"I'm sorry " she muttered loud enough for me to hear as she continued giving a humorless laugh
" i shouldn't have jumped into conclusion...I know am selfish and...."
"Hey...it's not your fault " I said pulling her face up to mine gently as her brown eyes bored into mine and her nude lip gloss was twisted in a pout while her eyebrows creased
" it's really not your fault trust me...layla would be fine and I'm never gonna leave your side today babe..." I said as she heaved
" But...I should have not...."
"But nothing Christy...you just did what normal ladies do when there guy doesn't turn up for something special..." I said as she smiled
" well on the contrary, I think am not so normal " she said chuckling making me laugh

" oh I am...." she replied and I laughed

" I wish layla would be okay and I wish you didn't have to go " she said turning her face over probably to hide her glossy eyes...i held her chins up so she could look into my eyes
" I know right...I'm so happy to have met you christy and more excited to have fallen in love with your personality...you are the best thing that ever happened to me this year " I said pulling out a diamond neck-chain that had the letters C♥C on it
She squealed happily " this was from the mall we both went to right ? "She said smiling as I pouted
" I guess so " she admired the neck-chain before pulling me into a hug
" thanks jerky jelly " she replied as I raised my eyebrows making her chuckle
" what was that " I asked
" that's what you are..." she replied as I rolled my eyes at her making we both laugh
" I sure taught you that ""she said giving me a light kiss on my lips making it tingle..she was going to turning away when I held her back
" I love you christy " I said as her gaze travelled around my face and finally resting on my lips she twisted her lips into a smile wrapping her arms around me
" so...promise me you'd never forget me in any kind of way " she said and I crossed my pinky fingers with hers
" I promise...and you too never forget me okay " she smiled at my reply then pouting and pretending to think.I spanked her arm playfully

" if you would come back as a real man then I promise " she replied with her infamous wink making me burst into laughter
" Christy I have a confession to make " I said and her ears twitched before she quickly masked her curiosity with a smirk

" wouldn't you like to hear it out ? "I probed as she shrugged

I gently pulled her closer and watched as her eyes fluttered in excitement and her lips parted in a cute smile...
" Happy birthday Tiana " my voice coming out in a husky manner as I leaned in to close the gap between us in a passionate and intensifying way...

Today SS3 students were completing their final year exams and the school was a bit rowdy....chris so sad to say had left 3 weeks after my birthday and though we chat and video call. I couldn't just get used to the fact that he wasn't with me...nevertheless this year's birthday was my best birthday ever and I was looking forward to another
I walked passed the cafeteria cause I had intentions of going to my abandoned favorite place which was the park. When Andrew intersected me
I rolled my eyes at him " what do you want? "
" I need to talk to you " he replied
" okay go on " I said dryly
" can we go over to the cafeteria? "
" dude am off to the park and you either say what you want or free my life " I retort impatiently as he slumped his shoulders
" I'm sorry Christy....I was being a jerk"
" okay....." i Drawled the words
" am not saying this to mean anything serious please...it's just that I had a crush on you and i wanted to always ask you out but it turned out I was being a jerk when helen and tracy all came into the picture...I didn't mean to play with your feelings though and am so sorry for that " he paused and I tilted my head more patiently than before
" maybe I just should sort myself out cause you are taken already..." he concluded and I laughed
" yeah...And..." I almost told him I too had a crush on him but then this is something my ego hates to admit so instead I smiled
" you know what...would you like to have lunch with me and my besties "
" I'd be the only guy at the table "
" yo got Damien, Ayomi and you so nah you're not alone " I said giving him a sincere smile as he nodded
" yep..thanks Christy " he said as i once again abandoned my favorite place to go to the cafeteria....
This time, we were much at our table of eight cause shola and co.were making sure I become more social so I don't get to feel sad at chris absence yet they were like hawks looking out for potential toasters that tried to ask me out
While shola would bluntly tell them I have a boyfriend...kemi and bubbie would make sure to see him off with a sorry not so sorry look as he walked off in disappointment...
My crazy friends though... since the SS3 students were almost leaving we were buckling up to continue the one more year of school
And i had a feeling that it was going to be awesome....Melviks high school was my best school since I ever started transferring.....
BONUS CHAPTER - GRADUATION
You know when I heard about melviks high, it sounded like the kind of school I wouldn't want to attend. I remember whining to mum about how nostalgic I felt, I remembered walking into Mr. Jide's office and him telling me to be sure not to cause any trouble... I think I kept that rule. I remembered drooling over Andrew the head boy of that year... My class introduction with teachers and Helen's loud-mouthed trouble, me reuniting with my two friends..
I smiled broadly recalling how I knew obi, and how I felt kinda surprised that melviks high ss2 students didn't usually pick offense at whatever and hardly held a grudge at offenses and sincerely that was one thing which made me overlook a lot... I recalled shola and bubbie squealing into my eardrums about the new student..... And speaking of the new student
I smiled as events of A year back played inside my head...when he had given me his fluffy ear warmer, and how badly i reacted, when he introduced himself to the class not without landing me a big embarrassment.I recalled the first day we quarreled and afterwards him hitting me a ball mistakenly
That was I think just our beginning....the beginning of our closeness, the hospital, our little performance, our first kiss and I could go on and on but for the sake of mum squealing my name and announcing to everyone that I was leaving high school today was interrupting
" Christy! Aunty Josephine and your cousins wants to see you oya...." she called out excitedly as I rolled my eyes
" I'm coming mum " I replied. Aunty Josephine's kids; sasha and Ezra were two most annoying souls I ever came across amongst our cousins. While sasha was 17 my age mate who just finished high school last year and got admission into UST a.k.a rivers state university in Mass communication but had deferred her admission cause she wasn't yet ready to get into school and then Ezra was 18, quite my elder and he was in uniport year 2 Electrical engineering
" I'm freaking out here with an outfit and mum's telling me about aunty Josephine and her devilish kids who decided to show up today " I whined to suzy who was busy fixing my hair and makeup
" maybe they aren't that....."
" Hey ladies!!! "A voice called cutting suzy short
" haven't you heard the word 'knock' before except you are a caveman " I shot up as he smirked
" hey...easy okay don't bite me off...I don't even know why fine girls are the one with the most feisty character "he said winking at me as I rolled my eyes
" Ezra....ladies room...give us some space okay " suzy replied huffing
" you two are sounding like you don't want me hear " he whined with a pout
" Bingo!!"suzy snapped her fingers as I smirked
" you finally found your lost memory " I replied as he huffed
" two evil cousins ...anyway congrats Christy " he said with a light expression as I smiled

" be careful ooh as you're graduating now, being a fresher in year one is not easy esp when laye is the v.c "
" I know right I'll try " did I ever tell you that Ezra sometimes had a less annoying side? Okay here is the thing, he was like an elder brother which I never had aside from my from my lovely annoying sister
"Why are you even giving me the fresher advice now? "
" so you'll be grounded nau let all this marlians not come and deceive you " he replied as I chuckled
" coming from a marlin himself " I replied as the both of us laughed
" Christiana David!!!" A loud shrill voice called out as suzy groaned grabbing a pillow beside her and throwing it on the person who's face comes through the door
" my nose!!" Sasha yelped
" I wish it broke " suzy smirked as sasha glared at her
" take your time ooh am older than you "
" tell that to your manners when you yelled and barged in " suzy replied dryly as sasha hissed aloud while Ezra and I watched in amusement cause sasha and suzy never got along....
" Sasha please I need you to help me with my valedictory speech " I asked trying to ease the tension when Suzy snorted beside me
" c'mon nau, Christy you're better than this, telling Sasha to do this for you is like announcing to the whole school that you're a dumb idiot " she said smirking as sasha's expression clouded and I glare at Suzy
" what!!! "
" Suzy she's older than you and for the sake of cheesecake please be respectful at least for today " I reply flatly
" okay " Suzy simply replies as she sashayed past sasha who practically waited for an apology and when she got none she yelled
" you are such a demon " she said with a teary look at Suzy who simply snorts as she walked past her with a throwaway comment
"And you're not better than the devil "
" Susanne!!!!! " I yell
" your sis grew evil more than often " Ezra whispers into my ear making me chuckle loudly as i shook my head

Soon we were driving down to school in our black land rover...I had my attention outside the window as I remembered mum and dad waking suzy and I up as early as 6am today..I smiled at daddy's words.while suzy was grumpy, I kept rubbing my eyes still feeling sleepy
" my once upon a time little girl who's growing up everyday, daddy's girl...her father's daughter...Adaeze nnaya, Ada dika nnaya you have made me proud and you're still making me proud congratulations my first daughter " my dad said engulfing me into a bear hug
" I can't wait to embarrass you on your graduation " mum said sitting up on her bed as suzy giggled naughtily i shot my head at her
" mum please " I half begged as suzy retorts
" you don't know warriz going on " she replied as I roll my eyes
" anyway....Christy am soo proud of you and more reasons why I'd embarrass you "mum replied grinning like a 5 year old waiting to lick lollipops

" shut up joor am leaving Melviks High not the house "

" yasss for your sorry ass " I yelped as dad and mum glare at me making suzy snicker while I folded my mouth in taking my gaze at each of them
" dad good morning " i said as suzy stifled a laugh while dad shook his head
" you're crazy I swear " she mouthed
I chuckled silently...one minute we were saying welcome to Melviks High and the next minute it was a goodbye Melviks High I'll miss you all esp.

" now we going to be calling our headgirl for the valedictory speech " mr jide's voice boomed through the microphone in excitement.doing our tenure as prefects, he made it clear to us that he was satisfied with our leadership. Well, this was when we were handing over our badges
Fact:Mr.jide's was never satisfied with a set until they were leaving the school...
I stepped to the podium in my graduation gown which kinda hid my outfit of a peach-coloured knee-lenght dress which had a v-neck cut at the front and back and a big silver bowtie at the gracefully adorned at the side of my gown. While a silver heels graced my perfect pedicred feet to match with our outfit.... This cloth was chosen by our school admins for all ss3 students to wear on graud day.
Picking the microphone gently.. More than 500 students, parents, guidance and school authorities had their attention fixed on me. For the first time in my life, I was excited about being on stage. Mixed feelings overwhelmed me and sighting my mum and dad sitting closely together made me feel relaxed. They seemed to be screaming "YOU GO GIRL " at me... Suzy sat with Sasha and Ezra with a smug look at her face as she continually rolled her eyes at Sasha who was greeting all familiar with a random guy and Ezra who fixed his attention on his phone...
My best friends we're seated with the graduands cause that was we're they we're expected to seat. While Mr. Jide and other school staff and authorities we're seated at a high table.
I breathed in sigh and lowering my lips to the microphone I began after all formal greetings
" A school as I have learned isn't just a place for acquiring knowledge and skills. And someone once said and I quote that 'education isn't just about learning and writting, but it is the training of the mind to think. ' and here in melviks high school, education asides learning to read and write, am proud to say is a school for morals and virtues... Here is a school who had nurtured our characters and had moulded them to depict a godly and healthy ground to face the world at large................... " I had barely finished my speech when everyone clapped hard while some of my class mates could be seen shedding tears
Was it crocodile tears or tears of joy or sincere tears of missing the school was something I'm never sure I'd find out. Shola's words recalled itself to my memory melviks high with the most set of mentally hilarious douches
While the principal handed me my award for the best graduating student of the year.. It was an award frame boldly printed BEST GRADUATING STUDENT YEAR 2019/2020 and then a bunch of yellow rose flowers which was held in a bunch As I shook hands with the principal while giving a big smile for photographer, everyone especially mum cheered. Infact if mum had promised to embarrass me today, then she did something great cause immediately I was handed my award, mum leapt at her feet screaming " THAT'S MY DAUGHTER!!!!! " as she took numerous photographs of me and then engulfing me in a tight bone crushing hug. I even got scared and had to whisper to her in her ears ' please mum... Am dying ' I said, she pulled away and just when I thought it was over..
Mum had hugged me again, making sure to bless my face with kisses while dad patted my back. They we're sincerely happy for me and I too couldn't help grinning like a Cheshire cat.
When I got some freedom from mum's boasting about 'her' daughter, I hugged my classmates who we're gathered around me and this time as we hugged, I felt my eyes well up with tears..
Obi was hugging me tightly " Christy I'll miss you "he said as I pulled away gently poking his side
" were is all this mushiness coming from? "
He laughed " you eehn, you can't be sweet for once " he said and I laughed heartily
" I'll miss you too Obi...and really thanks for tolerating my excesses, you taught me alot too " I said and he cooed
" what a speech! am so touched " he replied as I hit him hard in a playful way
" see who's being all staunchy now " I replied pouting and we both laughed
Next was Helen, we stared at ourselves. Obviously waiting for who would speak first when I rolled my eyes " don't you ever know how to ease situations? "
" not when I'm standing with devil's spawn " I retort as she snorts
" always sassy "
" and always chaotic " I reply as she smiles making me chuckle as I shook my head
" bye..." she started bringing out her hands for a handshake
" I'm not going to die you idiot " I retort eyeing her as she chuckled
" of course you oaf I was going to say I'll miss you " she said and I smiled

" this doesn't make us friends, you know? "She said and I roll my eyes
" of course...." I said when a voice hiss behind us which I recognized to be Deborah's said
" geez...girls! Hug already " we laughed before pulling ourselves in a hug....we were was hugging each other when my eyes caught sight of some handsome dude sporting a black t-shirt and trousers with a white sneakers to match. I quickly pulled away from the hug while running to the figure who had suddenly gone lost
I stopped in disappointment, maybe I had been imagining things...just as I turned to go back a hand wrapped me from behind with a familiar scent of strawberries. I quickly turn back
" Chris?! "
" suprised? "He said grinning cutely as I hugged him tightly muffling my head in his scent gosh how I missed those scent
" I hate suprises " I muffled into his clothes as he chuckles
" not when you got your damn hottie beside you " he said winking at me as I pouted
" go away am angry at you "
" what do I do? "He asked smirking at me
" I spoke to you this morning and you never said you were coming to Nigeria. But here you are in all your glory showing up and making me go crazy with your scent and your......" I didn't get to finish my sentence when he leaned in closing the gap between us. And man...I badly missed his lips on mine..he tasted so fruity and gosh, my butterfly gang were flipping in my tummy in excitement..
We pulled away reluctantly trying to catch our breath " you look so fuvcking beautiful" he said and I blushed
" and you look so fuvcking gorgeous....seems like you took my advice of coming as a real man " I said smirking as he chuckled
" you still have your C♥C " he said referring to the neck-chain and I smiled
" yeah thanks to you " I say as we both hugged each other when we heard someone clearing his throat behind
" Hey man! "Ezra greeted chris as we pulled away, me facing him with a pout and chris with a look of confusion
" Hey " Chris replied as Ezra smirked at me
" chill....I haven't come to steal your bae " he said and Chris let out a chuckle
" chris this is Ezra my cousin and Ezra chris " I introduced not without eyeing Ezra.this time Chris was more relaxed
" Hey...can you lend me your girlfriend for a sec " he asked winking at me as I huff while Chris nodded his head
" sure. Don't take too long bae "he said giving me a light kiss on my lips as I giggled while Ezra kept winking at me
" you know you're crazy right ? "I said to Ezra as we pulled away
" chill...me who was advising you this morning sef no even know say you get boo " he said and I smack his arm

" can you give me the no.of the girl talking to sasha. Suzy says she's friends with you " he said referring to shola as I smirk
" you go and meet her yourself and free me " I say dismissing him as he snort.when next I turn to him
Shola and him seemed to be getting along already and I text shola

while kemi and Ayomi were hugging each other and bubbie's boyfriend Damien turned up today...bubbie wouldn't let us hear something again .I smiled thinking about my friends, its a good thing we still were going to see each other.
I sneak up at Chris wrapping my hands on his torso
" someone missed me " I sang as he chuckle
" I'd rather miss my flight " he replied smirking as I pulled my heels to throw at him which he luckily dodged and turned out my heels broke
" my shoe is broken " I cried as he comes over to me
" cry baby " he smirks obviously enjoying teasing me and just as I was about to react. He swung me over his shoulders giving me a piggy back ride..
" thanks for coming Chris...you saved your ass " I say resting my head on his back.... I was so happy today
Melviks high school turned out to be my best school we're I met my best friends, fell in love and most of all was awesome.... I'd miss it so much...
