The rhyming sound of the drums, students standing in a single queue, teachers by the side esp.dry old mr.mattews, the data processing teacher, standing in an attentive manner as the school anthem was being sung by junior students with renewed energy and the senior students with less enthusiasm boldly crying out loud on their forehead WHEN-WILL-THIS-BORING-ASSEMBLY-BE-OVER???

The principal had then deemed it necessary to walk up to the podium " to give a little announcement " he claimed. But trust mr.jide. his idea of a little announcement without wasting any of your time had turned out to be 30 minutes straight on school discipline and juvenile delinquency and the use of a stable students government bla bla

" Based on that, we want to nominate prefects from the SS2 class who wouldn't just be prefects but a perfect one to correct the mistakes of their predecessors. Since the SS3'S are about to sit for their jamb and waec exams, it has been considered that the SS2's would take the mantle from them and continue were they stopped but this time in perfection and wisdom. " he paused as students giggled cheerfully making incoherent sounds and muttering who they think the next head boy and head girl will be.

" Quiet!!! "Mr. Mike hollered and suddenly the place grew quiet

" As I was saying, starting from today. We shall begin the votes of who the prefects will be.remember, whoever you choose will either determine your failures or success and if you choose not to vote, then you already should not complain when you get a bad candidate cause you had voted him/her when you decided not to vote..." he concluded.

As we walked to class chattering between ourselves who the head boy should be and what post we would want

" I want that of the study prefect " kemi said as we all chuckled

" who knew kemi to be studious ? " Bubbie retort as she rolled her eyes making us chuckle more

" well...I want to be the social prefects" shola says dreamily as we agree with her

" yeah yeah...cause I don't see reasons why you'd be any study prefect since you're always busy..." I didn't get to finish my sentence when shola took to her heels as she tried chasing me as we laughed while I hid behind kemi begging and laughing at shola

" well..well...don't be surprised you'd get the chapel prefect "

" oh please !!! I prefer the foodie prefect " I say chuckling just when someone's light lips brushed past my neck

" hey babe..." he called at me while waving my friends " hi girls " he said as I giggled at shola and the girls cooeing

" Awwn....give them space joor " shola says pulling kemi and Bubbie along.I laugh at shola's craziness before turning to face chris staring into his caramel hazel eyes and his soft beautiful lips which twitched gently into a smile showing off his deep adorable dimples as he smiled

" see me by 4pm okay "

" I can't...am grounded remember " I say pouting as he chuckles

" ahh..shit..okay do you mind if i come over "he says as he smiles bright-eyed

" of course...you should you're my boyfriend " I say chuckling as he pours before giving me a peck on my cheeks

" love you bae "he says sweetly as I smile at him sauntering off

" love you too " I say shaping my two hands in a heart shaped as he chuckles imitating me and blowing me a kiss through the hole making me blush

" I see you exhibiting PDA " an unmistakable voice interrupts as I caught sight of suzy giggling mischeviously at me ad I roll my eyes at her and her bimbo friend shooting daggers at me.

Seriously those kids as suzy called them

I shook my head walking up to my friends who didn't miss teasing me about me and chris.

" someone's feeling butterflies " Bubbie sang giving me a look as she smirked.

" you guys stop nau " I whined playfully as kemi pinched my cheeks

" flex your boo jare " she said as I scowled at the hurt she caused me on ny cheeks when someone cleared her throat behind us making the four of us turn back in a sync to meet the one and only miss solo bitch A.K.A flying fire ALIAS major busybody glaring at us.behind her stood her pathetic league following their mistress to glare at us. Shola looked at each of us as we gave her a knowing look before settling our gaze on Helen

" ahh... Christy long time no see " she called out in a shrill voice plastering a fake smile on her lips

" yeah right...I really didn't want to have anything to do with diseases " I replied her plastering a fake smile from my deepest feeling to her.

Her expression darkened as she hissed " oh well..speaking of diseases do you mind if we also talk about sluts" she replied coldly

" and what does that mean ?" Bubbie scowls

" well your dearest friend here if you don't know has the medal for jumping into different arms of young guys in school " she said smiling like she won a victory when shola wanted to retort I had beaten her too it

" so, are you here my dearest enemy to steal the medal or do you wish to be given one for being unnecessarily stupid today ? "I asked her sweetly as my friends burst out laughing humiliating Helen who wasn't done yet.

" so just you know christy.I'm not interested in your little pathetic life of whatever you're trying to show off but girl.your supposed 'boyfriend' had given me the badge of the head girl and I couldn't help wondering why he wouldn't give you his so called ' lover girl ' " she said letting out a humorless laugh as kemi etched her brows

" well..miss bla bla incase you didn't notice. you are the one with the pathetic life and besides wouldn't it be a disaster agreeing to someone like you to be the head girl ? "

" considering mr.sanu talking about letting the school still stand on discipline and morals " Bubbie chipped in

" ironically little miss perfect prefects got to be the only disaster choosen to collapse the schools image....what a great distress " I added rolling my eyes as we all burst into laughter at Helen's reddend expression

" oh please!!! Like you guys were ever better...." Lucy a plumpy average height girl among Helen's minions chipped in defense

" Don't you dare!!! Don't even think about saying a word " shola cut in sharply fixing lucy a straight gaze lashed with annoyance

" look at you " she continued " aren't you tired of playing devil's spawns with helen at this stage in life ? Moving about, talking trash about people and buying people's case are typical examples of a low IQ " shola fired.

Helen was spitting out fire as kemi immediately brought out her phone to log on the school's blog. Typing furiously

" everyone really needs to see this "she exclaimed smirking at Helen's reddend expression

" Dunno...and forget about her jare the oaf doesn't even know that you have plans for Andrew " she said and I nodded

" yeah you're right...she's just jealous anyway "

" but which post seriously are you going for ?"

I thought about Helen's rant. I was going to prove to her not to mess with me...

" I think I'm going to go for the head girl " I say quite unsure

" really?? "Shola asked

"Yeah...really " I muttered

Two weeks gone and the SS3'S had started taking their jamb while we had begun writing our GCE exams and of course, we had the badge.the prefect badge attached to our uniforms.

Shola had become the social prefect for boys and damiloye, a guy in the commercial class as her assistant

Bubbie was the assistant refectory prefect together with tony, one fat fair guy in the sciences as the head.I chuckled remembering bubbie whine about her partner being a glutton

Kemi was the head of media team, Melviks happenings and obi was her assistant

Chris was the library prefect.it was a post that he wasn't going to hold long to since he would leave after SS2 so they'd get a replacement easily..while Deborah was his assistant

And me...well I was the head girl while having Helen as my assistant head girl which infuriated her much more to my victory while the head boy was Samson a guy in the sciences with Everest another guy in the commercial as his assistant...

Now we were just warming up for another week of more task , more freedom and more fun ahead.
