Chapter 76: Chapter 76
Drishti sighed as she looked around.
She had arranged a date night at home, just for the two of them.
A couple of hours ago, she had called Chaahat and asked if she could take Shreya and Dhruv for a few hours. Chaahat was more than happy to oblige.
Their caretaker, Rajesh kaka, had driven Shreya and Dhruv to Mithran's apartment an hour ago. Drishti had then proceeded to set up their own apartment for the date.
She dragged a small table and two chairs to the balcony. Since she was still terrible at cooking, she had ordered a bottle of red wine and Italian food for dinner.
As she placed the candle on the candle stand, the doorbell rang.
"Oh, damn! He's here already. I haven't set the food on the table," Drishti panicked, hurrying towards the door.
When she opened the door, a tired-looking Shravan walked in.
"Are you okay? You look tired," Drishti said sweetly, taking his laptop bag from him.
Shravan frowned in confusion. It was unusual for her to approach him after a fight. It was usually him who took the initiative to resolve their arguments.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Drishti asked, innocently batting her eyelashes at him.
It was an antic that he found both endearing and annoying at the same time.
As Shravan observed Drishti's innocent expression and playful eyelash batting, he couldn't help but smile. Her ability to unwind him never ceased to amaze him. It was moments like these that reminded him why he fell in love with her in the first place.
"I am just tired from work, Drishti. It's been a long day," Shravan replied, his voice softening as he reached out to caress her cheek gently.
Drishti’s eyes filled up. This man is all heart. She only smiled at him, and he, it seems, has forgiven her for what she did to him.
What has she ever done to deserve him? Shravan Maheswari was the best thing that has happened to her. No one other than Shravan would have been able to love her and handle all her mood swings and misgivings like Shravan does.
At times, it feels as if Kiara bhabhi came into Abhi bhai’s life only so that Drishti Singhania could meet Shravan Maheswari and get tied in the sacred bond of marriage.
Because there was no other way they would have gotten married to each other. They were so opposite in character. They practically had nothing in common. If it had come as an arranged marriage proposal, they both would have said an outright "No."
And there was no chance of them meeting, going on dates, and falling in love, considering what a workaholic Shravan was back then. Well, he is still a workaholic.
It was only because they got married to each other by destiny’s plan that they had stayed in each other’s company for more than two days, which finally led to them falling crazily in love with each other.
That die-hard romantic in her likes to believe that no matter what, they would have found their way to each other.
“I am sorry, Shravan,” Drishti mumbled softly, as she wrapped her arms around him and hugged him hard.
Shravan’s arms went around her and pulled her closer.
“Are you still angry with me?” Drishti asked, raising her face to look at him.
“I am not angry. I am hurt,” Shravan said honestly, and Drishti felt her heart ache seeing the hurt in his eyes.
“I am so sorry, Shravan. I know I am wrong. I should have told you, but Siddhu and Shreya begged me not to. And it wasn’t until a couple of months ago that they confessed to each other. Until then, they simply silently loved each other. They haven’t been in a relationship for the past five years like you think. They both fell in love with each other the first time they met,” Drishti said.
“The first time?” Shravan asked in surprise. Shreya was a twelfth grader when they first met. How can a twelfth grader know what love is?
“Yes. Siddhu told me the moment he saw her that he got the spark. When I told him she is a twelfth grader, he told me he has no intention of having an affair with her,” Drishti said, and Shravan smiled at that.
“Good for him. Else he would have gotten the continuation of what he got last night,” Shravan said with a chuckle, earning a glare from Drishti.
“Siddhu will look after Shreya like a princess. I can guarantee you that,” Drishti went on appealing her best friend’s case.
“I know, Drishti. I have known him for the past ten or more years. I know he is the best we could find for her. I was just shocked to see them last night. The way I found them didn’t help at all,” Shravan said, shuddering at having to find his little sister in a compromising position with his best friend’s brother.
“You are the best, do you know that?” Drishti said happily, and Shravan rolled his eyes.
“Now, don’t go and blabber all this to him. Let me see if he would come and talk to me,” Shravan said.
“He will. He was planning to come and talk to you,” Drishti said.
“Never ever keep anything from me like this, Drishti,” Shravan said in a serious tone.
“I will never. I promise,” Drishti said earnestly.
“Good. Where is our little chipmunk? Can’t hear his voice anywhere. Is he asleep?” Shravan asked, looking around.
“He is not here,” Drishti said, and Shravan looked at her in confusion.
“What do you mean by he is not here?” Shravan asked.
“I sent him and Shreya to Mithran’s place,” Drishti said cheekily.
“Why in the hell?” Shravan asked.
“Because he is taking up all your time, and I wanted ‘just us’ time here,” Drishti said grumpily, and a sexy smile played on Shravan’s lips.
“What do you have in mind, Princess Maheswari?” Shravan asked huskily as he ran a finger down the side of her face in a seductive manner.
“Not what you think, Prince Maheswari. Go take a shower and come. We are having a dinner date on our balcony,” Drishti said cheekily.
“Damn!” Shravan said with a disappointed look, and Drishti pushed him towards the bedroom.
‘This is going to be a night you are not going to forget, Shravan,’ Drishti thought to herself as she watched Shravan walk away.
