Chapter 36: Chapter 36

I WOKE up in Xander's arms. I bit my lip as I looked at his arms wrapped around my body. I looked up and stared at his face. This was the first time I woke up earlier than him. Well, I slept well last night. After that kiss from him, I instantly fell asleep beside him. And now, I woke up in his arms with a smile on my face. I could say that this is the best morning of my life. Waking up next to the man I love.

I continued to stare at Xander's sleeping face. He looked like an angel in his sleep. Those thick eyebrows, lashes, straight nose, naturally red lips, chiseled jaw. Xander is really perfect. My eyes went back to those red lips of his.

My heart did a somersault when I remembered how I planted a kiss on those lips last night. He didn't even have a violent reaction. Instead, he kissed my head last night.

Thinking about his reaction last night, does it mean that he already accepted that we're really a married couple?

He now accepts me as his wife? I closed my eyes as a smile crept up in my lips.

I wanted to stay like this forever but I remembered I needed to get up. I tried to move his arm away from me. But before I could let go, Xander already moved.

"Charity?" His husky voice greeted me as he slowly opened his eyes.

Shit. His bedroom voice was sending shivers down my spine. Why did he sound so sexy in his husky voice? My cheeks heated up with the thoughts running in my head.

"Good morning…" I said, clearing my throat. I know he couldn't see me but I couldn't help but blush in front of him.

"Good morning," he greeted me with his husky voice. Shit. "How was your sleep?" he asked gently. His hand moved up to touch my head. I closed my eyes as I felt his fingers caressing my hair.

"Uh… good."

When I opened my eyes, I could see a small smile forming in his lips. Shit. I could feel my heart beating loudly.

"How about you? How's your sleep?" I asked him back.

"Good. Just like yours."

Dammit. If only we could like this forever.

"Uh… it's already getting late," I said. "Let's get up?"

"What time is it?"

"Six-thirty."

"Don't you want to stay in bed a little more?"

I pursed my lips. "Well… I need to cook breakfast. But you can still stay here if you want."

"Do you need help? With anything?"

"Nah." I smiled as I shook my head. "I can manage."

"Oh… okay," he said.

I stared at his handsome face. Before I could stop myself, I planted a soft kiss on his lips. Then I forced myself to leave the bed. "If you need anything, I'm just in the kitchen."

I left the room with my hand on my chest. Shit. I bit my lower lip. I couldn't stop my lips from smiling as I made my way to the kitchen.

"Good morning, Berna," I greeted the woman. She was having coffee at the kitchen counter.

"Good morning, Charity," she said, looking at me. "Are you okay? You looked flushed. Did something happen?"

I placed my palm on my heated cheeks. "I'm okay." I cleared my throat when I saw my reflection on the glass cabinet. I forgot I haven't fixed myself.

Damn. It was a good thing that Xander couldn't see me. What would be his reaction if he woke up seeing my bad hair day?

I excused myself from Berna and went to the common bathroom.

"Berna, I'd leave Xander with you later," I said to the nurse as I started making breakfast. "I'll go to the grocery store to buy ingredients for Sinigang."

"If you want, I can go outside for you." She presented.

I shook my head. "It's okay. I can do it. Besides, I won't take long. Just stay here and take care of Xander." I can't ask her to do groceries for us because that's not her job.

I prepared waffles, sausage and sauteed vegetables for breakfast.

"Thanks, Charity." I said as I pulled up a chair for him. Berna didn't join us for breakfast. She said she isn't hungry yet but I felt like she was just giving us privacy.

We eat beside each other, me assisting him with food. Xander insisted that he can already eat on his own but I still insist on assisting him.

"Xander, you have something on your lips." Before he could say something, I already wiped the corner of his mouth off with my thumb. "There." I said, pursing my lips.

I didn't expect it when he grabbed my hand and planted a kiss on it. "Thanks, Charity."

I felt my cheeks heated up. Shit. Was this what kind of boyfriend he is? I felt like my heart was melting with his actions. Damn. Imagine, what more would my reaction be if he could see my face? I probably couldn't stare at him.

"You're welcome." I said, feeling the corner of my eyes heated up. His sudden sweetness overwhelmed me.

"By the way, I'll go out to do groceries later. To buy ingredients for sinigang?" I remembered saying. "Do you want something?"

"Is Bernice going to be with you?" He asked, his brows slightly furrowed.

"No. Uh… Bernice will stay here with you."

"I'll be fine alone here, Charity. Just take Bernice with you when you go out."

I pursed my lips. "It's okay Xander. I won't take long."

He nodded after being silent for a moment. After eating breakfast, Xander went to the living room while I stayed in the kitchen. I made a list of everything I needed to buy later.

"Xander?" I said when I found him later in our room.

"I'm going to take a shower," he said, turning his head in my direction.

"Okay. I'll prepare your clothes." I went to the closet and took fresh clothes for him.

"Just call me if there's a problem," I reminded him as I guided him to the entrance of the bathroom. "I'll be here outside. Close the door but don't like it."

"Yeah. Noted, sweetheart," he answered with a hint of a smile on his face.
