Chapter 266: Chapter 266
In this critical moment, her first thought was to protect this child.
Earlier she had thought of giving up on the child, but at this moment, as a mother, the fear of losing swept over her, making her realize she couldn’t lose the child, absolutely couldn’t!
Camille’s call still hadn’t connected, and Seraphina was already in so much pain she was losing consciousness. In her daze, she seemed to see a familiar figure pass by.
Using all her strength, she shouted, "Desmond Fairchild, save me!"
Following Seraphina’s gaze, Jude’s eyes lit up, "Daddy, daddy, hurry and save mommy."
At that moment, Desmond was alone, having just shaken off Nina Kerr and headed back to his place. He had just taken a few steps when he heard a familiar voice, and turned to see Seraphina collapsed at the edge of a bench.
Seeing her pale complexion, his heart jumped, and he rushed to her side, his face full of anxiety, "Don’t be afraid; I’ll take you to the hospital now."
"No, don’t take me to the hospital, take me home." Seraphina was in such pain she could barely speak.
"Why would you say something like that now? You’re in so much pain, yet you still want to be stubborn?" Desmond thought Seraphina was trying to end her life, and his expression darkened instantly.
Seraphina shook her head, "I can’t go to the hospital, the hospital is not okay... someone is watching me."
"Are you trying to risk your life?" Desmond didn’t understand; even if she was being watched, she couldn’t just ignore her health.
"I’m afraid, I’m afraid the person watching me has some scheme; if they get my medical records, I..."
"Even if they get them, so what? Right now, you are more important," Desmond no longer listened to Seraphina’s nonsense, directly carrying her to the car and driving to the hospital.
Seraphina exhaustedly grabbed his arm, gritting her teeth, "Desmond Fairchild, take me home!"
Desmond was about to scold her when Seraphina’s weak voice came into his ear, "Desmond, I’m pregnant, Camille is at my house, don’t take me to the hospital, I don’t want anything to happen to the child."
Desmond didn’t even have time to be shocked, as Jude shouted, "Dad, drive quickly, mommy’s stomach hurts badly; if we’re late getting home, the baby might be lost."
Realizing the seriousness of the situation, Desmond sped up, reaching Seraphina’s villa in under three minutes.
Camille saw Desmond carrying Seraphina and knew something was wrong, quickly asking him to bring her into the makeshift operating room he had prepared these past few days.
Desmond was isolated outside, with only Camille and her assistant busy inside.
Standing outside, Desmond was extremely worried, as was Jude.
Father and son paced back and forth in the corridor, anxious like ants on a hot pan.
Soon the door inside opened, and they immediately crowded around, only to hear the assistant impatiently say, "Can you two not keep pacing here, you’re disturbing Dr. White."
After being scolded, Desmond and Jude didn’t even have time to ask how Seraphina was before the door closed heavily again.
Not wanting to disturb Camille, Jude and Desmond could only stand still, afraid to move.
After what felt like a long time, Desmond finally spoke up, "Why didn’t your mom tell me about the pregnancy?"
"Why should she tell you?" Jude asked, puzzled.
"I’m the child’s father." Desmond was left speechless.
Jude replied blankly, "How do you know you’re the baby’s father?"
The question silenced Desmond.
Jude was very upset with Desmond’s cheating behavior, so he spoke more directly about the sensitive issue: "Do you know how many people like mommy? If you don’t want her, there are many who want to marry her, how can you be sure it’s your child?"
Only Desmond could feel how deeply the words struck.
Because Jude was right, many people liked Seraphina; Keith Hughes was one of them.
But Desmond never considered others a threat; to him, no one was a match for him. Yet facing Keith Hughes, Desmond was indeed uncertain.
He found it hard to be sure if Seraphina would fall for Keith; every time he saw them together, they always smiled brightly. Thinking back to Seraphina’s sunny smile towards Keith made him mad with jealousy.
In front of him, she was always either gently like a daughter or strong like a powerful woman, seemingly never showing him such carefree smiles.
But now wasn’t the time to dwell on these thoughts; Desmond was particularly sensitive to Jude’s comment about the child not being his.
He grabbed Jude’s arm forcefully, his gaze cold, "Who is that man?"
"Who is who?" Jude had already forgotten what he had said, took a moment to understand Desmond’s meaning, then arrogantly raised his chin and told him, "Who it is doesn’t concern you; now you’re just a stranger to mom and me."
He then muttered quietly, "Mom said not to talk to strangers, so don’t talk to me."
Indeed, he is my son, Desmond thought as much.
Thinking carefully, from the time they separated till now, it’s been about three months, if pregnant, the child should be around four or five months old already.
Just earlier, holding Seraphina, he clearly felt her stomach slightly protruding under the loose dress.
Thinking about it, Desmond’s mouth curled into a smile.
He refused to believe the child wasn’t his.
Jude didn’t know what Desmond was thinking; he only cared about Seraphina’s safety.
After what seemed like eternity, Camille came out of the room, glanced coldly at Desmond without speaking.
Desmond couldn’t care less, asking gravely, "How is she?" Read complete version only at novel⟡fire.net
"You brought her just in time; she’s okay, and the child is safe," Camille apparently didn’t want to talk to Desmond, instructing her assistant to push Seraphina out, personally carrying her back to the room.
Jude hurriedly followed, seeing Seraphina still unconscious, worrying, "Third brother, is mommy really okay?"
"When I say she’s fine, do you not believe it?" Camille had confidence in her medical skills.
"I trust third brother, but when will mommy wake up?" Jude watched Seraphina lying on the bed without a trace of blood color, his little heart aching.
For some reason, he remembered Seraphina’s previous coma once again; now seeing her eyes closed filled him with dread.
Camille glanced at Seraphina, whispered, "The anesthesia hasn’t worn off; she’ll wake in about half an hour."
"How long has she been pregnant?" Desmond walked into the room of his own accord, his large hand stroking Seraphina’s cold face, his gaze crossing over her slightly protruding abdomen, his eyes softening.
"It’s your child." Camille knew what Desmond wanted to ask, and knowing his keen observation, it was impossible for him not to recognize Seraphina’s pregnancy period, so she directly spoke the truth.
