Chapter 190: Chapter 190

"Please wrap it up for me." Seraphina Sinclair handed the tie to the clerk and swiped her card, ready to leave.

Just then, an extremely annoying customer entered the store, and the sharp and harsh voice made Seraphina’s head ache.

"Oh, isn’t this our Miss Sinclair? It’s only been a few days, and you’ve switched to another man? What’s this, buying a tie for a man?" Shirley Lynch sneered at Seraphina with disdain, "Did Desmond Fairchild dump you? Well, with someone like you, it’s no wonder he did. You deserve to be dumped, considering you’re like a worn-out shoe."

"Shirley Lynch?" Seraphina glanced at her coldly, quickly retorting, "I thought it was some stray hen clucking in front of me, turns out it’s the Lynches’ eldest miss. Oh, wait, I almost forgot, with your family about to go bankrupt, I don’t even know if you’d feel embarrassed being called Eldest Miss Lynch."

After Shirley Lynch kidnapped her last time, Desmond Fairchild secretly pressured the Lynch family. Originally, the Lynch Group could have risen again with Anna’s help, but it ultimately failed, not only unable to get through the tough times, but now struggling even more in Bayside City.

"Seraphina Sinclair, don’t be so smug. You’re just second-hand goods; what makes you so arrogant? Are you relying on Desmond Fairchild? Now that he doesn’t want you anymore, you’re nothing. The Lynches’ foundation in Bayside City isn’t something someone like you can compare to. Once my dad secures the investment and we rise again, you’ll be the first one I trouble." Shirley Lynch didn’t expect Seraphina’s sharp tongue was still so poisonous and was infuriated on the spot.

Although Seraphina didn’t know how Shirley Lynch had the confidence to believe her family’s business could revive, she was too lazy to argue with such a fool, directly countering was more practical.

"Desmond Fairchild would rather be with someone like me, who’s been married twice, than you. Don’t you understand? After all, I do get it; if one had a wife with your intelligence, even Cloudsea Group wouldn’t be enough for you to squander. Who would want you, right?"

Seraphina chuckled lightly as she spoke, not waiting for Shirley Lynch to counter, and quickly added, "How’s your dear father at home? If I were him, I’d be dead from anger. It’s pitiful that President Lynch is reasonable, yet he ends up being foiled by his own daughter. Truly pathetic and lamentable."

Even Marcus Vance couldn’t help but applaud, not a swear word uttered yet directly hitting Shirley Lynch’s sore spot, making her face turn green with anger.

Of course, Shirley Lynch couldn’t just stand there and take it, thinking that since Seraphina Sinclair no longer had Desmond Fairchild’s protection, her courage swelled.

Seeing Marcus Vance seemed uninterested in helping, she clenched her fists and charged forward.

"You bitch, I’ll beat you to death for speaking nonsense!" Shirley Lynch recklessly rushed up, trying to scratch Seraphina Sinclair’s face.

At this moment, Marcus Vance took a step forward, quickly grabbing her wrist, his handsome face wearing a polite yet stern expression: "Violence is not a lady’s conduct."

"Why do you care if I hit her? You trying to stand up for her?" Shirley Lynch looked at Marcus Vance’s handsome face, nearly driven mad with jealousy.

Why do such excellent men surround Seraphina Sinclair, a twice-divorced woman? First, Desmond Fairchild, and now this handsome guy. What luck does she have to gain their favor?

The more she thought, the angrier she got, Shirley Lynch pulled back her hand, pointing at Seraphina Sinclair, she said to Marcus Vance: "Handsome, don’t say I didn’t warn you. Seraphina Sinclair is known as second-hand goods in Bayside City. As long as a man has money, she won’t refuse, be careful not to be fooled by her."

"I know better than you who she is." Marcus Vance replied with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.

"I kindly warn you, and you don’t appreciate it." Shirley Lynch was stunned, "That kind of woman isn’t worthy of you, don’t you get it?"

Marcus Vance looked calm: "I’m not good enough for her."

This statement left Shirley Lynch speechless.

She stared at Marcus Vance, disbelief written all over her face, wondering how someone so young had such a messed-up mind.

Since Marcus Vance wasn’t listening, she couldn’t be bothered to argue, turning her aim back at Seraphina Sinclair.

"Seraphina Sinclair, I’m telling you, this won’t end here, just you wait." Shirley Lynch glared at Seraphina with venom.

Knowing Marcus Vance was with Seraphina, she wouldn’t gain anything. A gentleman’s revenge could wait for ten years, she certainly wouldn’t spare Seraphina.

Seraphina coldly watched her leaving figure, knowing she wouldn’t be polite if there were a next time.

After settling the bill, Seraphina apologized to Marcus with a smile: "Sorry about earlier, I hope it wasn’t too embarrassing." Official source is novel fire.net

"Towards someone like that, I think you were quite polite actually." Marcus Vance’s thin lips curled up, impressed by Seraphina’s ability to counter, but in the end, she was a woman, too gentle in her approach.

If today happened with him, Shirley Lynch wouldn’t have had an easy time.

Unbeknownst to Marcus, Seraphina simply didn’t want to waste time on Shirley Lynch since she had him by her side; otherwise, there’s no way she’d easily let Shirley go.

After all, her main purpose today was buying a gift for Desmond Fairchild, not troubling others.

But after browsing for a while, she only bought one tie, nothing else caught her eye. Time was tight, she feared she wouldn’t make it, almost tempted to ask Desmond outright.

Meanwhile, at Cloudsea Group.

Desmond Fairchild sat on the sofa with a grim face, radiating an aura of intimidation that scared Ace from approaching.

Quentin Jennings just finished his tasks and returned, seeing Ace stuck at the door, neither in nor out, he curiously asked: "What are you doing? Why not go in?"

"Seeing President Fairchild’s face darker than a pot bottom, I wouldn’t dare bring bad luck." Ace hesitated for a few seconds before shoving the documents into Quentin’s hands, clasping his hands in a prayer gesture, "Director Jennings, I’m begging you!"

Quentin shrugged helplessly, flashing him a charming smile: "Fine, you go ahead, leave this to me."

"Thanks a lot!" Ace almost rushed to give Quentin a hug of gratitude.

At least he and Desmond have been close brothers for over ten years, Quentin dared claim he understood Desmond better than anyone.

Taking the documents, he walked into the office, shutting the door behind him, Quentin gave him a once-over, quickly grasping the situation: "What’s up? Fighting with your wife? Relationship issues?"

Endless silence was Desmond’s answer.

Desmond held his phone, saying nothing, his cold gaze fixed on the screen which displayed a photo of Seraphina Sinclair dining with Marcus Vance in a restaurant.

In the picture, Seraphina was lowering her head, smiling shyly, looking just like a girl in love.

The two were sitting together, chatting and laughing, the atmosphere seemed pleasant.

Desmond stared hard at the smile on Seraphina’s lips, finding it glaringly offensive. She seemed never to have smiled genuinely at him, never displaying such a shy demeanor in his presence.
