Chapter 188: Chapter 188
Rosalie looked at her speechlessly: "Miss Sinclair, do you know how many calls I’ve made? I thought you were at work and didn’t see them, but looking at you now, you haven’t gone to work at all. Why didn’t you answer my calls?"
"It’s a rare day off, why should I have to answer your call? Can’t I just enjoy it quietly?" Seraphina replied, sounding quite justified.
Rosalie was left speechless by her retort, and after a long silence, she spoke again, "By the way, I wanted to ask you something."
"Hmm?" Seraphina sat up straight, curious. "What is it? Having a spat with Simon again?"
Rosalie was fine in every way, but her temper as a rich girl was indeed a bit severe. Hence, Seraphina instinctively thought it was some issue between the young couple.
"What nonsense, we’re doing just fine." Rosalie snorted, bringing the topic back, "Isn’t the day after tomorrow Christmas? Simon and I have always been apart more than together, and it’s hard to spend holidays together. He finally has time to spend the holiday with me. What do you think I should gift him?"
When it came to Christmas, Seraphina immediately perked up, "You wouldn’t have reminded me; I’m so busy I’ve forgotten, Christmas is almost here, and I haven’t prepared a gift for Jude yet."
"Forget Jude for a moment. It’s your first Christmas with Mr. Fairchild, are you not going to show something?" Rosalie asked curiously.
"Right, it’s a holiday, but he said he wants to take me to a party that day. Whether we celebrate it or not is still up in the air." Seraphina replied wistfully.
Rosalie didn’t agree with her: "Whether you celebrate or not doesn’t matter, but you cannot skip the gift. Christmas is like Valentine’s Day; it’s the best time to warm up your relationship. He’s been attentive towards you, you should at least show some gesture."
"Weren’t we discussing what gift you should give Simon? Why did it shift to me?" Seraphina steered the topic back.
"You haven’t settled your own affairs and you’re worrying about mine? Forget it, you don’t seem like someone with any romantic experience. I’ll ask someone else." Rosalie looked at Seraphina with some disdain, and before she could reply, Rosalie ended the video call.
Seraphina helplessly rubbed her temples, wondering why this girl was always in such a whirlwind mode.
Looking back, from the time she met Desmond to how their relationship evolved, it seemed like Desmond has always been the one doing more. As his nominal and actual fiancée, she seemed to have never actually done something for him proactively.
What kind of gift would be suitable for him? This man lacks nothing, which indeed poses a challenge. However, perhaps men would understand men better.
Seraphina instinctively thought of calling Quentin but changed her mind. Quentin is someone with no decorum, expecting any constructive advice from this playboy is practically a daydream.
After contemplating among Desmond’s friends, she finally settled on Marcus.
Marcus was a bit surprised to receive a call from Seraphina.
There hadn’t been much contact since the last meeting, with just occasional encounters twice, but no private interactions. This sudden call from Seraphina piqued his curiosity.
After the call connected, he adjusted his glasses and raised his lips with interest, "Long time no see, sister-in-law. How come you suddenly have time to call me?"
"Young Master Vance, I have a small favor to ask. I’m not sure if now is convenient for you."
"Of course, if there’s anything I can help with, I’ll naturally oblige." Marcus was quite interested in Seraphina, but since she was Desmond’s fiancée, he didn’t dare to reach out actively.
Now that she contacted him first, he definitely wouldn’t miss this opportunity.
Marcus might look like a high-class noble on the surface, seeming courteous in speech, but he’s extremely sarcastic inside.
Therefore, during his first encounter with Seraphina, he directly hit her sore spot. Fortunately, after Desmond and Quentin mediated, those issues settled, and Seraphina didn’t pursue them further.
Yet now hearing Marcus’s probing tone, Seraphina somewhat doubted whether she found the right person.
"The day after tomorrow is Christmas, and I’d like to gift Desmond something. As a man and his good friend, you should have a better understanding of him, so I wanted to ask what you think he might like."
Marcus originally thought it would be something more significant or perhaps some trouble she wanted him to help with, but never expected Seraphina simply came to ask about such an insignificant matter.
He found this woman indeed interesting and was even more curious.
He has always wanted to know how exactly Seraphina managed to capture Desmond’s heart. Given Desmond’s personality, even if he had a fleeting romance with Seraphina and happened to have a child, it wouldn’t necessarily tie him down.
After all, Desmond was never a good person.
What kind of woman could make such an enigmatic man bow and treat her tenderly?
"Oh, I see. If it’s , I think it’s hard to elaborate over the phone. Are you free today, sister-in-law? We could go out together, it would be more fitting to browse and choose."
Marcus checked the time, squinting his eyes as he smiled, "If you’re free, I’ll come pick you up."
"No need, I’ll drive there myself. Let’s agree on a location." Seraphina replied.
"Alright, I’ll text you the address."
It was her first private meeting with Marcus. Seraphina casually dressed up and headed out.
When she met Marcus, he was leaning against a lamppost at the street corner. His tall stature complemented his handsome features, drawing admiring glances from many young women. Some bold ones approached to ask for his contact info, which he declined politely.
If it were Quentin, he would probably wish he could plaster his WeChat QR code on his forehead and add a few lines: Silky beauty, add me. Fresh chapters posted on novel★fire.net
Quentin never imagined himself to appear so sleazy in Seraphina’s mind.
