Chapter 40: Chapter 40

It was a bright, beautiful and memorable morning. The breeze seemed somehow different from other days maybe because it was a special day.

She walked to the altar slowly and gingerly with a smile of pleasure and complacency fitting her face that was covered with thick veil, she was looking so tall in her high heels that he never expected her to be that tall.

She gave her dad a small smile, he'd eventually agreed to shift Gran's burial party which was hurriedly done a month ago when he had decided to become a good father at least this once, even though he knew he was far from being a good father, but he seemed to have summon courage that he has to be nothing to her but a good parent, not when she would eventually have her own family.

A grin had been plastered on Jimi's face ever since she stepped into the church and as she approached him, the grin increased but then he had this feeling of suspicion, a feeling he couldn't fathom.

Soon she was handed over to him and as he took her hand in his, he felt something strange. When did her hand become this big? Then they walked to the altar and the wedding started fully.

"Before we continue, if there's anyone that objects to this union let him talk now or keep it forever," the Bishop who was officiating the wedding announced.

Everywhere was in dead silence as the guests all turned to look at one another.

"There's no one, now I pronounce you-"

"Stop!" A voice which Jimi instantly recognised shouted from the end of the hall, the voice reverberating with echoes that enveloped the church despite the acoustical system of the church building.

Everyone turned back and there she was. Dressed also in the wedding gown but not without a veil and that showed who she really was as she walked up to the altar. Uproar filled the air.

Jimi quirked his brows before turning to the lady beside him, then he unveiled her. Nikki, with her face flushed with embarrassment and her whole body, her pitiable being at that her inauspicious moment effusing anger.

Nikki angrily dumped, better put, smashed the flower she had clung to earlier like her life depended on it to the floor in annoyance and in a twinkle of an eye, she dashed out of the church in mortification cussing under her breaths.

Lisha grabbed her hand immediately she passed by her.

"Let go of me!" Nikki gritted and before she could blink, a huge slap that sent her scurrying to the floor landed on her face. Noise erupted from everywhere.

Jimi quickly got down from the altar and ran up to Lisha. Nikki glared at her sister before standing up, she had no time to exchange words, the embarrassment was too much, she told herself she needed to disappear, so, she immediately adjusted the wedding gown and ran out of the church while almost all the OBT (outside broadcasting television stations cameras were fixed on her streaming live reporting of the scenes, while the paparazzi dumped the church to run after her.

Her plan had all gone wrong but how did it happen? She'd made sure she locked Lisha up in her room after she was sure Lisha was ready to go to the church, then how did all this bunkum happen? How did she get out of the room? Did she break the door or perhaps has an extra key in her room? Abi, her power don reach to pull the door down nii?

Her worst fear, how did it all happen? Several how and why raced furiously in her head before she got spotted and quickly got in the waiting car, presumably the car Lisha had brought when she raced into the church because the key still remain in the ignition. She sped off like the maniac she was, and many of the paparazzi in their usual manner scrambled into a Toyota Hiace XL bus and sped after her.

Nikki had been an impostor, she'd disguised as the bride when she truly wasn't. After seeing the wedding gown Lisha had bought, a very big and trailing gown with full length and thick veil, she decided to hatch her stupid plan. She got the same gown and fantasy high heels just like her sister and on the big day, after everyone had left for church with Lisha and a few of other hired hands, the make up artist, the jewellery, hair stylist and a personal assistant (her staff in the office) who had volunteered for the day being in the living room waiting for her, Nikki, tiptoed from her hiding where she had quickly decked herself in the same wedding gown and proceeded to silently lock Lisha in her room. She'd stolen the key while the make-up artist was doing Lisha's make-up.

Then she hurried out and exiting the living room, and those waiting for Lisha quickly followed Nikki, who in the wedding gown had a victorious smile plastered on her face, and as she heard the bang from Lisha's room, she smirked before waltzing down the stairs and then into the limousine that Mr. Adeboye had sent to pick Lisha up, the chauffeur who didn't know her drove her straight to the church.

With no one recognising her, she walked to the altar graciously being the happiest and luckiest in the whole world, little did she know that the happiness was only for a moment, the joy in her turned sour when she got caught and disgraced just when she wanted to be joined with her self professed love of her life. Just within a second, or even microsecond of being joined in holy matrimony with Jimi and proclaim husband and wife, which she had dreadfully but anxiously envisaging her plan tumbled in her feet when it failed woefully all because of that schmuck that regarded herself as her sister.

Not long after that the tumultuous upheaval and unimaginable disruption was quickly brought under control, the wedding ceremony proceeded as planned and it was successfully brought to a close in the absence of the impostor, the only devil in their way, without any further skirmishes.

Jimi held her hand as they walked round the beach. The cool breeze hitting their exposed body.

"Tell me why is your shirt unbuttoned?" Lisha questioned with a smirk.

He turned to look at her, she was in a white flannel gown that looked like she'd been thrown into a sack, the one he'd told her not to wear but she was headstrong.

"Is it affecting you?"

She shook her head, "I know you're planning to seduce the girls here."

"When you refuse to wear the normal beach wear, look at the way others are looking at you, who wears a nightgown to the beach?"

Lisha rolled her eyes, "What's their business with me jor?"

"Because you look weird," he replied and she pursed her lips before noticing the seductive smiles and wanton looks the Parisian girls were dashing her husband.

"You know what .." she said darting them malignant eyes.

"What?" He asked as he bit his lower lip in an attempt to stop his laughter from bursting out, he'd noticed the glare Lisha had been dashing those girls.

"Let's go back to our suite."

"Why?"

"I'm changing out of this flannel gown, I need to let them know I have a nice body too."

He erupted into laughter, "I thought you were more than comfortable in the grandma gown you're wearing."

She gave him a jab in the ribs, "Ow," he groaned and she glared at him before walking hastily to their room.

He smiled to himself before catching up with her, draping his hand round her shoulder, she eyed him and dropped his hand and then ran away.

He called after her but she increased her pace leaving him no choice than to run after her till they got to their suite.

"So, how do I look?" Lisha twirled immediately she stepped out of the room.

Jimi looked up at her and swallowed his saliva as he stared deeply at her, she was in red underwear, not until he felt her cold hand on his laps did he snap out of his salivating thoughts.

"I'm asking you how do I look? Do I look so breathtaking to the extent that you practically zoned out."

"Okay, when I urged you to change your clothes, I didn't say pants and bra," he told her while his eyes still scanned her exposed body.

"Well, you did say that, you told me to get into a nice beach wear."

He stood up, "Wear a mini skirt and halter neck top not underwear."

A smile broke Lisha's face, "So, you don't want me wearing the underwear?" She trailed her hand on his chest seductively.

"Wear something better," he admonished.

"I can't start looking for that," she replied before walking away to sit on the King sized bed in their hotel living room.

"I know where you kept them," he said before disappearing into the closet while Lisha chuckled, he got back minutes later with the clothes and she changed into it.

They held their hands as they walked back to the beach.

"You know this is no longer honeymoon but vacation," Jimi started.

Lisha shrugged, "Spending a month in Paris is still honeymoon."

He nodded, "It's like you don't want to go back home."

"I'm still enjoying myself here oo," she smiled before they sat down.

"So, has Nikki been found?" He queried and Lisha shook her head as her expression turned to a sour one.

"I spoke with her mom last night and she told me Nikki is still missing," she replied bitterly.

Ever since, she ran out of their wedding that day, Nikki had been no where to be found, no one knew her whereabout.
