Chapter 11: Chapter 11
"What's that?" Nikki questioned immediately Lisha stepped into the house.
Lisha turned to the drawing that she hugged to her chest, she opened it and smiled, "It's a drawing." She walked into the living room before Nikki could think of responding.
After Jimi and Lisha got back to the living room earlier in the day, they went on chattering, Nikki's gaze didn't waver from them while others joined in the discussion, she'd been the only one left out which showed she hadn't been invited to the occasion, while she'd even tried to join in the discussion, Soil had hindered her and at the end she had to leave in annoyance.
Lisha dropped the drawing on a couch before opening her arms wide for Miracle, that gave Nikki the opportunity to pick up the drawing.
"This is a drawing of you?" It came out more like a question than a statement.
"Yeah," Lisha replied while stroking the giggling Miracle's hair.
"It's lovely, who made it?" She trailed her hand on the painting as she felt a flicker of admiration. She needed a drawing like that too, a real painting of her that could be hung up her wall.
"Gym."
Immediately Nikki swung her gaze up from the painting.
"You mean Jimi actually drew this?" She asked for confirmation and Lisha nodded.
"It's like my birthday gift," she dropped Miracle who walked to Gran who was just descending the stairs with gin in hand.
"But your birthday was more than a month ago," she protested and Lisha nodded before sitting by her.
"Yeah, it's a belated birthday gift," she proceeded to pick up the drawing from Nikki's laps but Nikki's hands still held on to it.
"I'm going up," Lisha told her.
She nodded in return and took another glance at the drawing before returning it to its owner.
"What's that?" Gran interjected before sitting on the two seater with Miracle by her side.
Lisha opened her mouth to respond but Nikki did in stead of her, "It's a drawing, Jimi made it."
Gran dropped the bottle of her gin on the center table before talking, "Wow, that's so nice of him, I've always known that guy had a thing for you, he was only using Lisha to get to you."
Nikki laughed loudly and Lisha rolled her eyes, won de oo, they've started again, she picked up the drawing and turned it over to Gran's side.
Gran's brows creased as she stared at the painting, "This is Lisha."
"Yeah, it's me, he made it for me and not Nikki," she clarified and Gran opened her mouth in surprise.
Nikki eyed her sister contemptuously as Gran smiled faintly, "Oh! I didn't know."
"You can't," Lisha pursed her lips before rising, she walked up to her room with the painting hugged to her chest.
Immediately she got into her room, she hung it on the wall and stared at it with a wide smile, the sound from her phone tore her gaze from it.
It was none other than Jimi, her smile increased, lately, her face tend to break into a wide smile whenever he called her, she jumped on her bed before picking the call.
After exchanging pleasantries, Soil spoke to her thanking her for showing up before returning the phone to Jimi, they talked for some minutes before Nikki as always interrupted.
"Gran said to come prepare dinner."
Lisha looked up at her before talking, "Gym, I've got to go now, I haven't had a shower and I need to prepare dinner."
Nikki blinked her eyes twice as she took in Lisha's words, lately, she realized they've been having phone calls for minutes and sometimes several hours yet Lisha claimed there was nothing between them and she hoped they were not getting involved and if at all they were planning to, she'll surely get between them and ruin it, she wouldn't allow Lisha come in between her love for Jimi, she wanted him all alone.
"Hey," Lisha snapped her out of her thoughts as she dropped her phone on the bed and got down.
"Oh, umm, so, you were speaking to Jimi."
"Yeah, anyway, I need to have a shower now, I'll come down to prepare dinner," Lisha said as she inched her way towards the bathroom.
"Okay then," Nikki turned back to leave the room but stopped halfway, she opened her mouth to talk but the bang from the bathroom shut her up. Walking out of the room, her brain got clouded with numerous thoughts.
*************
A smile shadowed his lips as her thoughts found its way into his head, lately, he'd always caught himself thinking of her which in turn made him smile like a psycho. The day before had been fun filled as he remembered the way she kept on dancing around the garden though she didn't really have a knack for dancing but he found it amusing and when she chased him around the room; he couldn't be more pleasured until her sister cut short the entertainment.
She was a beautiful mystery and he wanted to explore her, she was entirely different from all other girls he'd met, she didn't sham anything or hide her true self unlike those leeches who were only after his money.
A loud clanging noise emanated from somewhere close by, getting past his own racing thoughts, he realised the noise was actually closer than he thought, it was crystal clear that it came from his office, his gaze fell down and came in contact with silver ankle strap heels in a shiny caramel skin, then it went up to a wine mini turtle neck fleece gown that presented an hourglass figure.
Immediately he swung his gaze up only to be met by Nikki's enchanting smile; one that didn't enchant him though, even though he'd noticed the kind of charming smiles she'd been dashing him while not been ignorant of the wanton looks.
"How did you get in?" That was the first thing that came out of his mouth as he wondered why his secretary hadn't informed him.
"I guess your secretary went down for lunch," Nikki replied as she crossed her legs and bent down to take a good look at him.
Turns out the thought of Lisha had made him forget it was time for lunch.
"Oh, anyway, what are you doing here?"
She lifted her chin and drummed her index finger on the table while talking, "I want you to draw me." She punctuated it with an entrancing smile that clearly had no effect on Jimi.
He furrowed his brows as he watched her pull out a chair in front of him.
"That's odd, anyway, I'm not an adept artist so I just draw for fun," he said convincingly and she shook her head.
"You're a skilled one, I saw your drawing of Lisha and I must say, you're an expert."
"Thanks for the compliment."
"So, I want a painting of me too," she fluttered her eyelids seductively and he pursed his lips.
"I'm sorry but I have a lot on my plate," he didn't want to sound rude so, he just gave her the only flimsy excuse he could come up with it.
"But you drew Lisha even though you're busy, do you perhaps like her and you're trying to impress her?"
Jimi scoffed a laugh, "I don't think that's any of your concern and again, I only draw people who are special to me."
That ignited the fire burning in her, she knew it, he was already falling for that ugly Lisha, why would he?
"And I'm not special to you?" She lifted her eyebrows.
"Not in anyway, you're just a model in my fashion subsidiary."
That shattered her and she got up angrily, "And Lisha is not just a designer in your fashion company? What makes her special?" She queried at the peak of her voice and that got Jimi wondering what could be wrong, why did she suddenly get angry?
"Um, she's a very close friend of mine and you're also close to Kemi, so…" his voice trailed off not knowing what to say again.
"Just a close friend uh?" She said sarcastically while opening her palm.
"Yeah, anyway I have to go for lunch, Smallie would have probably gotten angry waiting for me," he rose and Nikki glowered at him, yeah, they do have lunch together but why does he have to rub it on her face.
"Um, you…"
He cut in, "Shut the door."
