Chapter 10: Chapter 10
"What's the occasion?" Nikki queried as she walked into Lisha's room, she'd just gotten back from Silverbird Galleria with Miracle and Gran, they'd left earlier in the day only to be back in the evening.
"It's Mama's birthday," Lisha turned away from the mirror and smiled at her.
"Jimi's Mom?" Nikki scrunched her eyebrows and Lisha nodded in return before standing up.
"Wow, I didn't know about that, it's meant to be an elaborate party right?" She revealed her teeth in a grin.
"No, just for family, infact Mark and I are the only outsiders invited but Mama claims we're family," The reply felt like a slap on Nikki's face but she decided to sham a plastic smile.
"Oh, well, you look good today, I can't believe you didn't wear any odd cloth."
Lisha threw her head back as her long weavon wig flowed behind her while laughing before taking in her look in the mirror, she was in a short black evening gown that fitted her perfectly.
"No makeup?"
"Yup," she picked her ladylike bag before she heard the beep from her phone, looking at the caller, it was none other than Jimi, well, Mama had insisted he picked her up even though she was aware of her having her own car.
"I've got to go," she announced as she proceeded to leave the room while Nikki walked behind her with different thoughts racing through her mind.
As she cascaded down the stairs, Jimi looked up from Miracle who was already in a seemingly serious talk with him. As he stared deeply at Lisha who smiled at him. Nikki who was closely behind her only fixed her gaze on Jimi, she loved the way Miracle was on his laps and had several thoughts pouring into her mind.
"Hey," Lisha smiled at him immediately she got down the stairs.
He swallowed his saliva before replying, "Hi," then he dropped Miracle on the floor who then walked back to Gran who was seated on their favourite seat; the chaise lounge.
He opened his mouth to talk but Nikki stopped him, "Hi, I heard it's your Mom's birthday." She gave him one of her smiles that always attracted guys to her.
"Yeah," he replied succinctly before turning back to Lisha, Nikki wanted to talk but he impeded her by telling Lisha it was time to leave.
After bading Gran and Miracle bye, they left the house.
"Did I tell you I sprained my hand?" Lisha teased as she walked into the car. Jimi chuckled before slamming the door as he walked back to the driver's seat.
"You almost blocked my eardrums with that bang," Lisha hissed immediately he got into the car.
Jimi only chortled before he started the car as he drove out of the compound. It was silent at first before he tuned in the radio. 'Shekere' by Yemi Alade ft. Angelique Kidjo filled the air and in a second, Lisha raised her voice to its peak.
"God, Smallie, lower your voice, we're on the road."
She turned to him and smiled before continuing her shouts.
"You're just saying rubbish, you don't even know the lyrics."
"Whatever," she waved her hand before continuing the noise.
"God, your voice is terrible."
That made Lisha stop the noise as she turned to him, "It's nothing new, I love music but I just don't have the voice."
Jimi opened his mouth to talk but Lisha resumed her noise, this time other people kept staring at them but she cared less. Jimi shook his head as he tried calming her but when she didn't heed, he turned off the radio.
"What nau!" Lisha shouted as she turned to him with an angry look.
"The noise was too much, my eardrums almost got blocked," he swerved into the Island and Lisha eyed him before looking out of the car.
************
"What are you shaking? This flat bum," Nikki shouted but Lisha ignored her as she kept on dancing, though, she didn't actually know how to dance 'cause she was just moving from one place to another, jumping around the garden and shaking like the crazy being she was but the Adeboye's family were enjoying her madness.
It wasn't long after Lisha and Jimi got into their mansion that the party started but Nikki appeared from nowhere claiming she had to give Kemi something and had somewhere else to go later but Lisha suspected it was all a lie. Nikki didn't look like someone leaving anytime soon after spending more than two hours at the get-together.
"Li baby, it's okay, you need to rest," Soil said and Lisha turned to her with a smile before obeying as she sat by Jimi.
After gulping down the bottle of 'Ice Tea' in front of her, she turned to Jimi, "I need to use the restroom."
"Why won't you?" He stood up and dragged her hand before walking her into the house while Nikki's eyes trailed them, she wanted to follow them but Mark who had seen the disgusting look she gave them blocked her way by engaging her in a discussion, she tried to walk away but Kemi joined in the conversation.
"Do you want to spend hundred years in the toilet?" Jimi shouted from behind the door, he'd actually taken her to the guest toilet opposite the living room and she wasn't out yet.
"If need be," Lisha replied as she opened the door and walked out. She walked into the living room and Jimi followed behind.
"Mom. . hey, I have something to show you," Jimi said to Lisha as she turned back with a smile.
"What's it?" She asked in ecstasy.
"It's a surprise."
She pouted her lips, "I hope it's not something stupid sha?" She gave him a warning look.
"No, just come with me," he took hold of her hand as they headed towards the stairs.
"I hope you're not trying to murder me? I'll just kill you off instantly," she whispered to him and he chuckled.
Minutes later, they got to Jimi's room as Lisha scanned the room, it was a very big room almost twice the size of her room with everything painted in white.
She sat on his king-size bed as Jimi walked into what Lisha guessed was his walk-in wardrobe but there was a walk-in closet opposite it, so, she didn't know what the place was, she made a mental note to ask him later.
Seconds later, he got out with a drawing, "Here, have it."
Lisha tore her gaze away from his TV which was opposite the king sized bed she was sitting on before collecting the drawing, her eyes opened widely as she gaped at the drawing in front of her, it was a drawing of her the previous time she came to his house dressed in a pinafore.
"Wow, this is wow," she commented excitedly while tracing her hand through the drawing as Jimi sat by her.
"It looks so much like me, how did you get this?" She turned to him and he smiled.
"I did have the intention to draw you and Soil helped me by taking your picture that day, I didn't even know she took your picture, I just saw her checking it later that night," he explained and Lisha readjusted her sitting position.
"Did you actually draw this yourself?" She queried again as she was finding it hard to believe.
"Yeah, drawing is my hobby," he confirmed.
Lisha's face broke into a grin, "Wow, you're really talented," she turned back to the drawing while admiring it.
"Do you like it?"
She raised her head from the drawing before replying, "I love it."
"Consider it as a belated birthday gift."
"Thanks so much, it's the best birthday gift so far, I'm really grateful, I feel so loved," she grinned at him and he returned it with a smile.
"So, you can say something meaningful and be normal?" Jimi teased.
Lisha turned to him before dropping the drawing on the bed, then, she bent down to unbuckle her white wedge, after unbuckling it, she dropped the wedge on the floor, raised her head with a crooked smile and swung the other pair in the air while locking eyes with Jimi.
He got the signal of what she was planning to do, so, he got up hastily and Lisha did the same, in no time, she started chasing him around the room. Seconds later, she caught him by the collar of his shirt and…
The door opened abruptly and Nikki barged in alongside Kemi.
"What are you doing?" Nikki questioned on top of her voice.
Jimi and Lisha glanced at each other before she released his shirt.
"Soil said to look for you guys after we realized you left the garden for some time, we didn't even know you guys were here," Kemi explained.
"Oh, sorry, I had to show Smallie something," Jimi told her and she nodded. All the while, Nikki was busy glaring at Lisha with obviously different thoughts plaguing her mind.
"That's true," Lisha added as she walked back to the bed side so as to pick the other pair of her wedge.
"All right then, meet us in the living room when you're done," Kemi said as she proceeded to leave, after noticing Nikki didn't have any plan to leave, she took hold of her hand and dragged her out of the room.
